Affordable($ 9 and change if you go at lunch when there is no crab legs and shrimp). Earlier reviews report much higher prices. Now, it is competitively priced. The space is very large and clean and I enjoyed the food(notable: pork-filled egg rolls, chinese buns, salmon, sushi, and shrimp). There is sushi and a made-to-order Mongolian Grill for those that are leary of eating old food. I went mid-afternoon on MLK Day and found the food to be very fresh and tasty. Finally, ice cream is availabe for desert, which is a nice touch.

At first I loved the place & the food. As soon as I tried the ice cream I started to cough and now a day later I feel sick. I would not go there until they fix the whole ice cream scenario. They have the scoopers in a un sanitized bucket. This bucket was gross and I didn’t think anything off it until I stared to cough. Now I feel like the ice cream was the only thing that made me feel I’ll. also my throat started to hurt and incontrollable coughing occurred. 3 stars for the restaurant. 1 star for maintains cleanliness.

Short version: DON’T GOHERE. I would give it NEGATIVE5 stars, but Unilocal doesn’t do that. **** If you need to know why I say this, then read on, but be warned, its a little longer than my usual reviews.**** –(When we still lived in El Paso) My husband and I had dinner here and brought friends visiting from home(Los Angeles) here quite a few times. Mainly because it was the closest restaurant to our apartment on lee trevino, and secondly because it was Chinese food(that wasn’t a fast food chain like panda express) and lastly because Most of our friends, including my husband love Chinese food. Other than those two reasons, I wasn’t really coming here by choice, but more of by ease of location. Anyway, lets start at the beginning shall we? —When you first get there, you pay before you are seated since it’s an all you can eat buffet. Yet the approx 7 times that we have been there, no one at the front desk greets you in a friendly manner, or smiles or anything. Ive had nothing but rudeness from the I guess you could say«host» at the front desk.(And this place Isn’t cheap either its around 16 or 17 $ a person). Normally I wouldn’t mind paying that much for a buffet, but I’ll explain more why I feel that’s too expensive in a little while —-After that, SOMETIMES you are seated by your«server»(if anyone is paying attention) or you seat yourself. *There has been an incident where we were seated by our server, but I had asked if we could move 1 or 2 tables behind us considering the light was shinning threw the blinds and RIGHT into our eyes(it was around sun-set time and by the way, the place was empty) and then she started yelling at us in another language. After me apologizing repeatedly to her, she rolled her eyes at me and just pointed to another booth a few behind us and did the«shoo-ing» motion you usually see on T. V when moms want their kids out of the kitchen. So we picked up our stuff and moved. Then she proceeded to not re-fill our drinks for most of the evening, but standing close enough to us so my sister and I could over-hear her talking about the two«Stupid and annoying blonde girls» INENGLISH!(thats when i knew that she MEANT for us to hear her complain about us on and off for the rest of our dinner that night. But that was just one time, so I will even let that pass. and not let that(Pretty annoying and RUDEASHELL) incident be the reason for the low score. Getting back to what I was saying; —-Then you get your plates and proceed to the buffet,(your lucky if you have placed your drinks by this time) and SOMETIMES there are labels over the food, sometimes there aren’t, and I am allergic to any kind of sea-food, so I have to be very careful with what I eat. ESPECIALLY at a Chinese or Asian restaurant. So if I get anything with meat in it I usually stick to what i know is chicken or beef, and even then, I have to have my husband taste it before I can eat it(Bless his heart for the little favors that are pretty big deals to me, that I require of him) But you get your food and sit back down. — The«servers»(I don’t know what else to call them considering all they do is fill up your glass, and even then, they only do that when they aren’t talking or yelling at each other in different languages) but anyway, the«servers» aren’t nice, they don’t even PRETEND to care about how they treat you or about customer service. I guess we’ve just gotten used to that there, so we shall move on. —-The food is pretty disgusting. Its extremely LOWQUALITY product, even for a buffet.(I get sick every time we go there) The rice has been sitting all day or its still the rice from the day before, including the fried rice which has egg, so it shouldn’t sit all day and night.(trust me, I know a thing or two about rice, my ex-husband is Asian and we were together 7 years). The noodles are usually over cooked so its mushy, I don’t know much about sea-food(since I cant eat it) but from what Ive been told from my friend who eats it, the fish had already gone bad, and it was still on the serving floor!!! I couldn’t taste it, so I can’t say that I know that it had gone bad, But it sure smells pretty nauseating around that area. —- After your first plate, you can tell that they want you to leave because they DONT come to your table to take the plates, they hardly fill your glasses, and they kinda give you that«look». —- Whenever you are done, you just kinda walk out as they«eye» you, and you end up leaving feeling guilty or like you had just been caught with your hand in the cookie jar before dinner. so my advice DONOTGOHERE

Moral of the story, for upfront starters, DONOTEATHERE. $ 27.97 total for two adults’ dinner Overpriced, due to the sad quality and quantity of food. As you walk up to the entrance, your first thought may be, WOW it’s GIANT. And that could well be the only giant aspect of the whole deal, that and some of the patrons’ waistlines. You are made to PAY first before being seated, and thus have no idea what the buffet looks like or if the food is worth the money. Well it’s NOT and you don’t find that out until you are grabbing a plate. There’s not many drink options either. There was ALOT of broccoli, not much meat, and could not really find any finger food options suitable for the kids. The food was pale in flavor and lukewarm at best. I saw one of the workers picking out straight from the buffet tray the bad looking green beans and leaving the rest behind. Why not just bring out fresh food and trade it out? No fresh sushi was available and it did not seem they were going to at least pick up the few leftovers that we’re smeared, squished and sadly left behind, much less refill the plates. I went to look 3 different times and the sushi plates looked the same. Nasty and dirty. Mongolian Grill? No one was there cooking or even attending the sad little grill side. Dessert options were ok at best. Fruit looked somewhat fresh. The cream roll was soft but had a left-out stale taste, but I ate it because I was hungry. The cookies reminded me of breaking dog biscuits in half: yup, SUPERHARD. Needless to say, I couldn’t bring myself to eat them or even physically bite through or break them in half. The waitress never offered to refill my drink, and came over to switch out the soy sauce bottle with her hands reeking of Fabuloso. Lavender. Yeah, love that smell but not with my lame, overpriced buffet meal. Another server was sweeping around the tables adjacent to ours while we ate. Yum: bad food and dust in the air. Just Grrrrreat! The table and booth looked clean when we sat down, and the only food items that were palatable were the broccoli and vanilla pudding. Everything else was super sub-par. Worst $ 27.97 spent in El Paso. I wish I had spent that money on a car wash and starved. Look elsewhere. Like anywhere else but here.

The food is much higher quality than every other chinese buffets in town. They actually seem to take pride in the food they make. Great service. The Mongolian grill is one of the best that they have around, the chef will try and recommend things to put on your food.(He doesn’t speak English well though). The sushi is amazing I don’t like sushi personally, but that is the only place I will eat sushi in town. They regularly switch out the food, which you never see at any other Chinese buffet in town. The atmosphere is phenomenal which is very exaggerated for the other buffets in town.

Pretty typical Chinese buffet which I have never been a fan of. I will say this is one of the better ones in town, where they seemed to replace food that had been sitting out a little too long fairly regularly.(which is rare for EP). If you’re one of those people that likes this sort of place, this is one of the better Buffets in town.

Giant China Buffet, or GCB for short(and to sound cool), is one of the newest if not the newest Chinese Buffets in El Paso. The building and inside certainly have that new restaurant smell, and the waiting staff is very polite and friendly. As far as the food and buffet go, the food its pretty standard, not horrible, but not great. I do wish the Mongolian Grill had more options, but it seems to be the same as all other mongo grills in buffets have, so again standard. The rice pudding does stand out from the pack, its the best I’ve had in a while! GCB does bring one critical innovation to the world of mass Chinese food consumption and that is that they have utensils available next to the plates, whereas most places only have spoons. This is a major breakthrough as many a fork have been lost in the fight to consume as much food as humanly possible, and you always have to ask the waiter for a new one, and lets be honest, buffets don’t exactly make you feel like interacting with any strangers…
