My mom’s special tea is always available. Not the best selection of fruits and vegetables but if you’re too lazy to drive down to Rosemead or West Covina then this is your place for oriental stuff. Bought some almond cookies, couldn’t wait to try them. I was so let down when I got home and found out they were stale. Had to toss the whole bag that cost almost $ 3. Have no choice but to come back next time for my mom’s special tea, if not for that alone. Definitely almond cookies is on the list of what not to buy from here.

My go to market for buying meat and Salvadorian chorizo. The meat is really fresh and they keep that area really clean unlike other markets.

Everyone is super friendly here! You won’t be disappointed with the employees’ treatment. The prices are always affordable and there are new specials every Wednesday. Also, there’s new space open to rent out to different businesses. It’s been under new management for about two years now, a Asian Mexican fusion market. My thuan supermarket in Santa Ana is co-owned and having gone to both I can say they’re both great, but I go to el valle for my Convenience

Ghettooooo ass market! Worse market I have been to in El Monte. It feels so makeshift inside. The seafood and meat section have pretty good deals. I usually only come if I want to buy meat or seafood for cheap. Remember it is CASHONLY!

Checked out this market from Cindy Z.‘s review. In the process of remodeling, this Mexican market will soon be taken over by a Chinese/Vietnamese one also known as My Thuan — similar to the ones they have in Little Saigon, Westminster OC and in the City of Rosemead. It’ll be nice to have an Asian Market here especially since El Monte is also Vietnamese dominant too. There’s A LOT of phở places here on Garvey Ave., lol! Situated on the corner of Garvey Ave and Mountain View — ample parking space. Upon entering the store, it’s pretty clean and spacious. Though the place does carry a weird smell — maybe cuz of the meat department. They also got a small seafood section and deli area. There’s no bakery section here. They shut down a Mexican food to go section — hopefully, they’ll have a bakery and Asian eateries to go places once this place is completely redone. The veggies were a bit expensive and not much of a selection. No Asian veggies here yet(like Gai-lan, bok choy, bittermelon, etc). Though we did get some carrots that were 2 lbs for $ 1.00. They do carry a nice selection of Chinese /Vietnamese products here such as sauces, green teas, noodles, vermicelli wraps for banh cuon, nem nuong rolls, assorted Asian gelatin mixtures and seasoning powders for certain Asian cuisines and desserts, etc. I haven’t seen any exotic Asian fruits yet(like jack fruit, star fruit, dragonfruit, lychee, etc). Service was quick and friendly. They provide plastic baggies here, yay! Even though it says El Valle in the store, but the plastic bags say My Thuan. The restroom here is nasty. Some stalls didn’t have toilet paper or seat covers, ewww! Granted, you’re remodeling, but you still gotta provide a decent place for people to pee. Overall, we’ll come back when it’s fully remodeled. It was a nice place to check out, especially since we rarely venture out to El Monte. Hopeful I’ll be able to upgrade the stars when it’s redone again.

A pretty unique supermarket. This place was originally a Mexican supermarket, but now it is under new management and incorporates a lot of Asian/Chinese foods as well. I was surprised to see so many familiar Asian foods that I see at the Asian supermarkets my family frequently visits. A few of the products include pinatas, cacti in the grocery section, Asian cookies, Asian cooking sauces, and more! I would say about half of their products are Asian and half Mexican, although the music and decorations are still the original ones. The prices of a lot of things seemed good/reasonably priced. It will be nice when the remodeling of the other part of the building is done. It was surprisingly cold when you first walk inside, but maybe that will change when the rest of the building is open. There are several small stores inside the building, near the entrance and exits of El Valle Supermarket. My family will likely come back again!
