I live in PB, and after reading reviews of here, I had to take a trip. I ended up going Friday, Saturday and then again on Monday, each time walking away with quality beers you just don’t see anywhere else. My wallet is a lot lighter now, but it was definitely worth it. Margaret (I hope I’m getting her name correct because I’m horrible with names) was awesome to me and told me I need to come by and meet her son when he’s there. I’m sure that’s going to happen sooner than later. Thank you for some great beers and even better service!

BEER BEER BEER! I have never seen a selection of beer like this before. This store is family owned and managed. They take care of you like your own. It is truly amazing walking into a store and the clerk knows you by name. Amazing people would recommend this place to anyone!!!

Wow what a selection! I came in looking for a chocolate stout beer. And I found more than I bargained for. They do have some pretty high priced items, but I’m going to assume they are worth it. Now I’m no beer drinker. But if you are this place is a must stop if you’re looking for something special.
The family who ownthe store are very nice and helpful. Not easily found nowadays.
They do have a wide variety of unique alcoholic treats.
The parking lot is a zoo at times, so be careful.

I’ve never encountered a better liquor store! Their selection of craft beer is amazing and their service is even better! I’ve recently ventured into the world of craft beer and have been trying different types of beer, shopping at Helix is like being a kid in a candy store! The guy behind the counter is very personable, he is more than happy to assist you and answer all of your questions. I highly recommend them!

Helix Liquor is a diamond in the rough that is El Cajon’s craft beer scene.
Any time I’ve been in, John has been there to point out the newest brews he has in stock (and I should emphasize that there are new brews EVERY TIME). If you aren’t sure what to grab, just ask him for a recommendation and rest assured he won’t let you down.
I’ve stopped by looking for something in particular before, and on the off chance it was out or wasn’t carried, he made an effort to bring the bottle in for me. It is that extra effort that you don’t see from a place like BevMo or even other stores in the East County.
But what should definitely be applauded is that on a recent trip in there, while I was perusing the awesome selection of bombers in the cooler, it seemed that everyone that walked in was called by their name. How John remembers every name and face, I do not know. But how he does it doesn’t really matter, it’s the fact that he does it, that is so awesome and appreciated.
Helix Liquor is family owned, and when you walk in the door, you feel like you are a part of it. Cheers to them.

This is a Gold Mine for the newest and rarest craft beers. The owners have a great wealth of product knowledge and I am always happy with the recommendations they give me. I am not sure how they get ahold of some of these beers, but I ain’t complaining. Its been my one stop party shop for over 10 years and they make me feel like family.

This place is the best. If you ever know of any up and coming local craft breweries, let them know because they will literally get you what you want. They have an astounding selection of beer, not to mention wine and liquor. The family who owns this store are all so sweet and if you want to be remembered by your name or face, come here and you’ll get open arms.

Helix Is the best place to go to whether your there for beer or candy or what ever you need they have it! I love coming in here the owners are the nicest people you will ever meet. It always brightens my day to come in here. Prices are a bit high on some things but i would rather pay a little more and get treated good like i do here :)

We’ve been back many times since I wrote this review (we end up here at least once a week) and I just love this place more and more each time. They still come through with the best selections of limited release craft beers (PLINY!) and they know their beers and will happily give recommendations. The owners always remember us when we stop in and even go so far as to ask how we enjoyed the specific beers they remember us purchasing our last time in.
The selection of new beers every time we go in makes it a fun adventure and sort of like Christmas year-​round.
02/​18/​2013 UPDATE: Helix Liquor is expanding its craft beer even further by adding another aisle of craft beer selections. Hooray!

So I walked in here one day cuz the big banner out front that said variety of craft beer sold here. I wasn’t expecting much, but this place by far has the BIGGEST selection of craft and import beer I’ve seen in el cajon.
Had specialty stone reunation 10 yr anniv, Yule smith anniv, Belgian brew thru the roof, lots of imports, and all of the domestics. I was shocked, it was like a lil beer heaven. If you want a great drinking experience along with friendly service come here you will not be dissapointed !
