You would think a chef at a chop house would know how to cook a steak. Ordered it medium rare and it came out well done. Sent it back. They attempted to cook the second steak correctly but failed again; very rare. Complained to the waiter. Manager did not have the courage to put on his big boy pants and discuss the issue with me. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Don’t miss the brunch! Amazing, amazing brunch. I had the chicken and biscuits. Being from the south, I was a little snooty when I ordered it, thinking it could never measure up to my standards. I was proven wrong. Fried chicken, gravy and biscuits were all amazing and it was even a gigantic Southern sized serving.

Probably the best steak I’ve ever had. Service is impeccable. I would frequent the place more often, but my bank account can’t handle it.

Everything we had was amazing! The filet was perfect! Tip: avoid sitting in the bar area to eat. Noisy and a little drafty because of the doors.

We have visited here twice and it has lovely atmosphere. The steaks are the star of the show hands down. I do have to say I was less than impressed with the whipped potatoes. I didn’t think they had much flavor. Wait staff was nice and polite and didn’t hang over us to much. It was a rather good spot for a date! If you have a salad I highly suggest the house, it had fresh strawberries and was very light and yummy.

Great food friendly staff. Excellent selection in cocktails and wine. All apps are amazing so make sure you order at least one. Can’t go wrong with the delicious salads and soup. Make sure you are NOT in a rush food service is usually slow but well worth the wait.

Food is top notch for a town the size of Eville. Goat cheese brulee is one of the best appetizers around. Prices are high and the ambience varies based on where you sit. Cold by the door and on our last seating we were next to the windows to the kitchen, resulting in a flourescent glare more reminiscent of a waffle house than a steak house where we were dropping hundreds of dollars on a meal. But, the food and good wine won us over on the experience.

Does anyone else get extremely excited when they hear they’re going to a steak house(this girl loves her meat)? Anyone? I’m sure you’re all raising your hands(well minus vegetarians & vegans… And if you are one, why are you on a steak house’s Unilocal page to begin with?)… Any who, if you ever get s chance to come to THIS steak house, let your excitement shine through because damn it’s good! I seriously don’t think I myself had any issues with ANYTHING! The rest of my party seemed to really enjoy their meals as well, although I noticed the mashed potato side dishes didn’t really get touched… I was initially going to give this restaurant four stars because I’m a harsh grader but honestly, I had to change that because even when coffee with baileys was ordered after dinner, and the coffee came out lukewarm… The server took it back for HOTREFILLSAND more BAILEYS! Boom! At the end of the meal, I peaked over at the bill and man was I shocked! We ordered a TONOFFOOD(& drink) and it all rang up to under $ 200! Maybe I’m just used to Los Angeles prices, but whatever– this whole meal(for 7 people mind you) was quite possibly less than an expensive bottle of champagne in LOSANGELES! Ha! Long story short, this place impressed me to no end… The salmon, oh the salmon… And I would go back every single day until I leave ILLINOIS if I had the means of transportation, ha ha! Well done! Bravo! Cheers!

After we moved here from out of state, our family of 5 had dinner here after we closed on our new house. It was delicious. We all had steaks. Our server was so nice and friendly and told us about all sorts of great places and things to do in Edwardsville and the St. Louis area. Great food and great overall experience.

We had a wonderful late lunch here last Saturday while visiting the Art Fair. The lobster BLT with a cooked egg on top was absolutely delicious. So was the chicken sandwich that my companion selected. We selected fresh fruits as a side and were very pleased. They have a good wine selection.

This review would have been 3 stars at a lower price. But at this price, I expect better. My wife and I went for a Friday evening meal. I really did like the fresh bread that came out with our meal and the very garlicky herb butter that came with it. And I had a good Caesar salad as well. The croutons appeared to be fresh-made. We had excellent service throughout the whole meal. We both ordered a NY Strip, cooked medium. While hers came out perfectly cooked, mine came out medium-well with the grey greatly outweighing the pink(some parts were grey throughout). I gave it a few bites, but it was as dry as it appeared to be. My wife’s, though perfectly cooked, was tougher than it should be. The lighting was dim, so when I was asked about how my steak was, I asked for some help verifying that it was overcooked. I was offered a new steak. Not even 5 minutes later, a new steak appeared on the table. This new steak was squishy and rare one one end, and medium-rare on the other end. I really don’t know how it varied so much, because it wasn’t much different in thickness. I strongly dislike the taste and texture of rare, and I can enjoy the taste but not the texture of medium-rare. I really just gave up at that point. I’m not going to send back a steak twice. It’s far too frustrating, and there would be too little reward to all that effort. And I would never try to get money off the bill, because I hate seeming like I’m scamming for a free meal. The flavor was OK(maybe a bit on the bland side). I simply ate the medium-rare half and saved the rest for the next day for the microwave to finish from the inside out. The baked potato should have been an easy win to make up for the steak. The skin was tough as shoe leather and the inside was very solid. I’d say the inside was undercooked, but it was a bit too firm inside for that. A baked potato should be fluffy, not hard, on the inside. My wife ordered garlic mashed potatoes, and those were excellent. Cooking a steak to the right doneness should not be a mystery for a place that specializes in steaks.

This is probably one of the best steak houses in the St. Louis St. Louis area(and hey… if you live in Edwardsville you only have to drive a few miles). My guests had the beef filets(one with hunter sauce and the other with the blue cheese sauce). The steaks were cooked to perfection and very flavorful. The potato of the day is always something to look forward to. I am a vegetarian and the chef is always willing to make something special. Last night I had the tomato salad(with watermelon) brussel sprouts(without the pancetta) and gnocci. It was probably the best meal I have had all year. This place is a gem.

The food is still pretty good, and it’s hands down the best place in town to get a steak, but I’m not so in love with this restaurant anymore. My favorites are still the same(8 oz filet, shrimp bisque, rolls, potato of the day), but the excitement isn’t there. If you don’t specifically ask for rolls, you will not get them. The peanut butter tower dessert that I loved so much was taken off the menu. Yet the remainder of the menu stands mainly untweaked and intact after two years. When the only significant change that sticks in my mind is the removal of a great dessert, there’s obviously a flaw in the menu planning. Service has gone from an A+ to a B– and the bar has devolved into a no-fly zone after sunset: 1818 is to raucous baby boomers what Big Daddy’s is to frat boy«bros» and make-up laden girls in tube dresses. Food: delicious, but a 357th rerun of a favorite episode Atmosphere: more than meets the eye. Beware.

Something akin to a Chicago steakhouse. Had the delmonico and sprouts. Who would have thought blond raisins and bacon go so well with sprouts. D-Lish! The service was super accommodating. I had the feeing they would tweak anything onthe menu to your liking. Their bar menu is less than half price from their regular menu items. Looking forward to trying the bar menu.

Had a wonderful brunch here on Sunday! I got the spinach and goat cheese omelet and — crispy hashbrowns were perfect. Bloody Mary’s had crispy bacon strips-YUM! My husband got the BLT and E and was in heaven. Great service, amazing food.

This was my first visit to this restaurant. Salmon and steak were cooked perfectly. Huge pieces of lobster in the risotto. Not impressed with the chocolate french toast dessert on the specials menu. My father tried to order a strawberry daiquiri and was told they weren’t able to make one. Glad we were able to order off the regular menu for New Years Eve. Service was good as well. Busy parking lot shared with a strip mall. Enjoyed being able to see the entire kitchen from our table.

I have been here twice now. The first time we walked in and with in about 10 min they offered us a seat by the door after telling us it would be 30 min. I thought wow. They have great service. After we were seated we promptly looked at the drink menu and decided what we wanted to have for drinks. After about 15 min and no one has come over I start looking around and see the wait staff standing around and watching the guest. I watched a few other couples come in and be seated and get water and there drink orders promptly. I waited about about another 15 min and finally stud up and walked over to the boast and asked if we had a waiter. They apologized and had some one come over right away. From that point on we had a great waiter and the food was good but not great. The owner or who we think is came over and apologized again and told us the drinks we had were on the house. We thanked him and paid our bill and tipped the waiter very well(40%) plus the drink cost since he was a great waiter. Then we come to the second visit. The other night we went in after leaving Andria’s due to them being booked up for the evening. I will say they sat us quick but the waitress seamed to have a I don’t care or want to be here attitude. She had one of those fake smiles that you can see a mile away when she did smile. The food was awful. We both ordered the prime rib rare and when we got it the outside was black and had a chard taste to it. Like it was burnt in the oven. It also was a tuff as skirt steak. We have both decided that two for two we will find a new back up for andria’s

My family and I love 1818 Chophouse! The menu can be a bit pricey, but they usually offer really great specials and some less expensive options. I’ve been here 3 times and have had excellent service each time. We have sat only in the bar, but the server is always friendly, quick, and helpful. They have a good selection of beer and mixed drinks. Most recently, we came during brunch and tried their Bacon Bloody Mary, which was excellent! There is a patio for outdoor seating when the weather is nice. I highly recommend their steak and other delicious entrees!

A good chophouse has a certain aura of machismo surrounding it. Men come to terms on a contract over a Tanqueray and tonic. They let out their Louis Vuitton belts a notch, and enjoy a steak grilled rare, without the slightest shame about butchery and buttered baked potatoes. Bartenders and servers conduct themselves in a meticulously efficient manner, understanding the important role they play in facilitating their patrons’ business dealings. While Craft Chophouse can support this kind of experience, it certainly has wider appeal. The furnishings are suitably masculine for an all-male power lunch, but elegant enough for any group seeking an upscale dining experience. One may order items as filling as a steak and lobster, or go light with soup and/or salad. Our visit took place at lunch. She had the 7-oz. Beef Medallions with Bearnaise Sauce, a Salad(the Parmesan Fries are not gluten-free, no dedicated fryer), and a Crispin Cider. I had the Craft Burger, Parmesan Fries, and a Boulevard IPA. While everything was very good, the burger occupied my attention. It was ground sirloin grilled medium, with chophouse-like subtleties: presented on two halves of a toasted brioche, first half containing a thick juicy burger, slathered with creamy boursin cheese, and topped by crossed slices of applewood bacon, second half topped with a large leaf of lettuce extending well beyond the edge of the bread, two ripe tomato slices, several rings of red onion, and a large pickle wedge. It seemed to me the refined version of the burger dads grill for sons at the annual skeet shoot and steak fry. Eventually I used every corner of the large cloth napkin to clean up after each dripping bite.
