This place is a find! Pass it everyday on my way to work and never stopped. Decided to stop in on a Wednesday and they had their weekly sushi bar. I am a regular now and one of my favorites is the essex sandwich. Great place, highly recommended

The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars is because I have only had their delicious food 2 times so far. Today we had the Bourbon Maple glazed salmon special with yellow rice and roasted vegetables.(Only $ 8.95) In my opinion everything was done perfectly and was very good! The glaze was not over sweet by any means. The restaurant is clean and bright. The foods are perfectly displayed in the cases. The staff is very friendly. Based on my restaurant experience quantity, quality and a fair price is exactly what a good restaurant needs to keep repeat customers. David Alan’s has set the bar in this respect. This explains why they have been in business for long.

Great place to grab a quick lunch. Their salads and sandwiches(Morris and Verrazano are my usuals) are very good. Today I had a Empire State sandwich. Slightly skimpy on the meat today but it is delicious. The sandwich costs $ 9.58 after tax.

Food is always fresh & delicious… we’ve been ordering for years and had the best service. Awesome thin crust pizza and my favorite sandwich; the Midtown. Great salads, they’ll even chop them for you!

If you want a rubbery and expensive chicken sandwich this is the place for you! I could gag thinking about it.

I was reading through these reviews and I find it hard to believe that anyone can say anything negative about the fresh food, and excellent service. It’s conveniently located off of route 10 and has a variety of options including health conscious minded people. Everyday the salads are made fresh, or to order. Their thin crust pizzas are to die for; try the West Orange, it is amazing. If you are looking for a sandwich, the Essex and Empire State are unbelievable. They even have outdoor seating, when the weather permits. Don’t miss this place, this review is spot on.

Love this place. I get the Morris sandwich without the tomatoes. The soups are good as well. Hope more soup for $ 4 will change.

Nice, a place to grab a quick lunch — premade salad/sandwiches for those on the go, and soup specials. they have a number of hot dishes every day, too. The sandwiches are good — coworkers love them, from the Staten Island to the New Jersey, the names are fun, too. The salad is big and hefty, and soup is in good portion. I had a pasta special — the egg noodles with vegetable and Swedish meatballs. The meatballs were pretty good, a touch salty. The lack of any sauce for the noodles left those bland, and the green beans were so crispy that they were almost rock-hard and tasteless, no salt or anything. Ah well. Will have to try a sandwich next time. Their bigger business is catering. Oh, and while you wait, two pinball machines to play.

I used to really love this place, I’ve only had one bad experience in the years I’ve been coming here. Lately, every time I’m in here they never have the ingredients for what I want and I must admit driving over on my lunch hour only to find they don’t have what I want time and time again gets old quick. I don’t foresee myself patronizing here as often as I used to.

Excellent place for lunch! Each day the prepare a gourmet hot selection of food and soups. If your not in the mood for hot lunch they can make you any type of sandwich that you would like. The have fresh made salads each day that are pre-made in a case. I personally like to get my salads chopped which they will do for you. The manager, Mike, is very pleasant and always goes above and beyond to make sure you are happy with your selection.

This place is horrible! Second time i place an order on the phone only to get there and to tell me they do not have what i wanted. They could have told me over the phone, instead of me taking the ride there for nothing! The service is horrible, the food is a hit or miss… DON’T WASTEYOURMONEYONOVERPRICEDFOOD!

So I always forget about this place because it is tucked away on a side street. Abd being that I used to go down this road before I can’t due to construction on a bridge near by but Living Social was having a deal and I let my last one expire so I knew I had to use this one. $ 10 for $ 20 worth of food, more than enough and it gave me the opportunity to indulge in things I may not have tried. I got two sandwiches(Essex and the Eggplant Parm). Not sure it was was but I wasn’t in love with the Eggplant but it was still good. Essex was delicious! I know there salads are delicious so I passed on those today. My only problem is having to give the girl at the counter my order 3x’s and no it was not crowded. No worries though she just needs to listen better because if it had been busy it could have been a disaster, lol. All in all this place is really good and prices are perfect. Till next time!!!

Amazing hidden gem of a lunch spot close to my work. I go at least 2 – 3 times per month, as the salads are HUGE for the price(~$ 7 – 9). My work friends and I come here because the quality and quantity of food is much higher than our work cafeteria. Sandwiches, soups, and entrees look fresh and service is excellent.

Got 3 sandwiches(~$ 7 – 8 each) to go and applied my livingsocial deal of $ 10 for $ 20 and paid $ 4.50 for taxes/difference. Roast Turkey $ 6.50 — Roast turkey, havarti, mesclun, honey mustard YUM! lots of creamy havarti cheese. I dded avocado slices to my wrap. It was so good~ just enough amount of honey mustard to balance out the saltiness of the turkey cold cut. Daily sandwich special: Meatball parmagian $ 6.95 — 4 large(~1.25 inches in circumference) meatballs with stringy cheese. This took a little longer than the cold sandwiches. The bread was toasted and the inside soaked up some of the tomato sauce so it was a bit mushy but it’s a tolerable mushiness due to the crunchy outside. Brooklyn $ 6.95 — Grilled chicken, jack cheese, tomato, Romaine and pesto mayo on French bread. Again added my own avocado and heated it up via toaster. Reassembled the sandwich and it was amazing. i was the envy of the office. :) without the groupon, slightly pricey but with the groupon, awesome deal!

A decent deli in a tough location. We stopped in for a quick bite after surprising my mom at work and were pleasantly surprised. It’s definitely nestled away in an industrial area off of Route 10 making it hard to get to or know about. However, its a solid deli. Their selection is decent and their sandwich menu has something for everyone. A little on the pricey side but worth it for a bite.

I really enjoy David Alan’s. There are so many options to choose from: sandwiches, wraps, salads, and a bunch of premade food options such as pasta salad or chicken parm. The inside has a cool vibe and there are a bunch of seats in the back. I love the turkey wrap with havarti and honey mustard. The food is a bit pricey but always tastes fresh. It is one of the best deli’s arround.

A large variety of food, but to me, the quality doesn’t justify the cost. I work across the street from David Alan’s and rarely go there. I stopped there today to pick up lunch after running some errands and am again left the feeling that I paid too much to not really enjoy my meal. Should have just gone to my work cafeteria like I usually do!

I used to love this place. Now, not so much. I used to go here for lunch because it is so close to my work. The salads are the best. The bad thing is that eventhough lunch starts at 11, they won’t have the specialty salads out until about 11:45. I waited yesterday for like a good 20 minutes. It sucked. Also, the staff behind the counters are unfriendly and not helpful. However, the two girls that are cashiers are very nice and helpful. I think I’m gonna ban this place. It is expensive and they always charge you«extra» for everything.
