Fossies is one of my favorites– stopped by here as a kid with my dad on most Saturday’s. BBQ pork sandwich– king, hot, with slaw is the way to go. I think they have slipped a notch over the years as Mr. Fossie has left us. Meat could handle a bit more smoke but the sauce is still awesome. Still have to stop by when I get back to Dickson. Worth the stop– just order it right: pork, king, hot, with slaw.

pork shoulder is very good… well worth the price… sides are also very good. fried peach pies were old… and appeared to be left over from a previous closing…

Fossies is one of my all time favorite joints. If I happen to be in Dickson on a pleasant day at lunch it’s almost a guarantee that I’ll make a visit. Fossie’s daughter runs the place, a humble storage shed converted to kitchen and advice window. She cooks the whole shoulders over coals for 24 hours. When I asked her what temperate she likes to cook at, she held Heermance hand over the fire for a few seconds and said«about that hot». This is authentic barbecue made by a master. No auto temp cookers here. Just good old fashion experience and craft. I envy Fossie’s business model. She makes as much que as she wants to sell today and when it’s gone she flips to sign to closed and goes home. So get there early cuz when it’s gone, you’re out of luck. Make your way out to Dickson some time and experience some old fashioned roadside BBQ.
