Great food selection. Very fresh vegetables and fruits. Great cheeses. Deli good. Service is fantastic. Very easy to get in and out of. Parking is easy. Wouldn’t go late night.

I am new to the neighborhood and have to say that my first visit to Mike’s exceeded my expectations. The store was clean and well-lit, the staff was courteous and helpful, and the produce was fresh and well-stocked. While the smaller-size of the store may not make it possible for me to buy all of my foods there, I can certainly get most of my staples and some specialty items(e.g I was looking for Panko bread crumbs and fresh cilantro and found both).

Not your typical full service suburban market, but surprisingly clean and well stocked for a city market. Now tell me… how come so few places in Detroit sell Detroit beers? Add that to your shelves and I’ll notch you up a star or two.

I wasnt expecting to be impressed. I rarely am. I found the store to be clean, and well lit and well stocked. I liked the fact that I could find everything I needed and that the local brands were well represented, like Dearborn Sausage, Better Made and Faygo to mention a few. Being that I have a serious, non curable addiction to Better Made chips(and who in this city doesnt?). I found the BM line well represented. The only downside is going on a Sunday. Bus service still sucks on Sundays, but hey, we can’t have it all, can we? I would have liked to see a few more price displays, but all in all the staff was nice and courteous, and I didn’t have to wait 10 years in line to checkout. If you go looking for buttermilk, try Kroger. For everything else, Mikes will do. I like Mikes, and will return. Thanks for putting a store in the D and for keeping the money in the city.

As much as I loved Farmer Jack and still miss it dearly, I must say that this store reminds me of it so much that I felt like I was in the Farmer Jack that once occupied this storefront. Unlike many local grocers, this store is still relatively the same size as the old Farmer Jack, and it offers quite an array of merchandise. Everything was pretty fresh, and unlike many other independent grocers in Detroit, they had quite a deli and produce selection. I was also impressed by the meat selection, as well. Their checkout was speedy and courteous, which is almost asking for too much at some other stores.

When the long time Michigan chain Farmer Jack closed it’s door it not only left empty buildings but it left tons of Detroit neighborhoods without grocery stores. To my surprise Mike’s opened in the space that was once Farmer Jack and has maintained a lot of the qualities possessed by the late chain. The produce is fresh and so are the baked goods. They carry a small line of organic products including milk. My check out was speedy and I didn’t have to go searching for a cart. This store is crowded on Saturday’s. If you can help it go on Wednesday or Thursday. I like Mike’s!
