Very cool bar, good prices, we had a plate combo only $ 10 decent prices for beer, you can play darts, pool, I’m recommending this place to everyone.

Just moved two blocks away from here so we had to check it out. It’s meh. What’s great is that there is free pool and my friends and I always have no problem getting a table whenever we go in. Cheap drinks too. So compared to living in the city before… It’s awesome! Crowd is friendly, definitely a good mix of people. I’m giving it three stars because the staff is terrible. The older women working are always so mean and rude all three times I’ve been in. We are younger looking(mid 20s) compared to the demographic… So the moment we walk up to the bar they immediately ask for our IDs in a way that makes it sound like they can’t wait to throw us out for being underage. When they realize we’re not, they then bring on the shitty service of ignoring us and taking forever to make drinks. This has happened Every. Single. Time.

A dumpy dive bar in the middle of no where. There are a few pool tables but the rest of the bar and patrons are just atroious. This is an older drunk plae and the people here are way overserved. The food is pretty bad and look of the bar very old. It could use an upgrade and is better off just being a poot hall.

I’m not gonna lie, Excueses is a ridiculous bar for a couple of reasons. First of all, the people are ridiculous. They are ridiculously amazing. No matter what time of day I show up, I can always count on watching at least three drunk guys play darts while arguing about sports. No matter what time of day I show up, I can count on some great conversation with random people who are just attempting to relax a bit after a hard day of work. Finally, the atmosphere is ridiculous. After an hour or two, you suddenly become best friends with the guy or gal next to you and singing songs is suddenly the norm. You drink, you laugh, you forget about your troubles for awhile. With friends who suddenly seem like family… Excueses could potentially be the next Cheers.

Had an awful experience last night. Prior to last night I may have given 2 stars. It;s your typical tired townie bar that you only go to because your friends all live nearby. Last night, however, cinched it for me. The manager, Jimmy, seems to think as long as you spend enough money, you can smoke by the pool tables regardless of the disturbance of others, not to mention IT’S ILLEGAL! I will not be returning to Excuses as long as Jimmy is allowing such behavior.

So, I like this place. I am slightly ashamed to admit. Yes, there are lots of unsavory characters and sometimes the music is crap but I have always had fun. It is a great dive bar. And the pool is free. Just avoid Karaōke nights on Thursdays. There is a big patio with tables, umbrellas and bags.

Come for the chicken wings. I consistently have dreams about eating piles of them without wiping my hands or face… they are that good. Worth the trip every time! I worked a mile from here for about a year and a half. We made this place a home after our X-mas party last year. After not coming in for 6 months the lovely bartender still remembered me and gave me a hug! The bar manager conveniently claimed to forget the night I stepped down into the pool area and did a face plant after 10 hours of drinking… I still have the broken stilletto to prove it! Pool is free as long as you’re drinking… clientele is decidedly suburban but a good mix of high/low. 21 year old kids, 45 year old construction workers, 70 year old retirees… i Bags in the summer by those who take it seriously. A great outdoor patio. Good jukebox, darts in a weird place, clean bathrooms… good memories for me! I got good at pool and close to people who are now some of my best friends here…

So, this place is gonna be my regular after work. It’s great at getting the belly warm. There’s not much eye candy, BUT, the clincher for this bar, aside from the close location from my work, is that you take a seat on the upper level of the bar(1 step higher than the ‘ground level’ portion) and it feels like you are sitting at a blackjack table. The food got served even at 11pm. The chicken fingers may not be the greatest, but at 4 bucks, it put enough for two people. You come in here, take a seat, drink and hear a story or nine from the patrons near you. The internet jukebox is nice and very up-to-date– playing some choice tracks off Kings of Leon and The Cardinals’ latest offerings. so come out on Mondays and have a beer with me. I’ll try to not be the surly one at the end of the bar.

Not the best place to go in the world for darts, billiards, karaōke, or drinks; but it gets the job done. It’s a decent place, with decent prices and people who don’t cause much trouble. Billiards are free with purchase of a drink. Darts are about fifty cents. They tend to have good deals on bottled beers and karaōke night(Thursday) is an interesting sight. I recommend going on Thursday because you can catch karaōke and get a pool table. I came the next day(Friday) and we had to wait a while.

Nice place, almost reminds me of Nikki’s in Niles, but bigger, and has 4 – 5 pool tables, a few bar electronic game machines, and darts. Has the one big bar with 1 or 2 bartenders with a respectable repertoire of your domestic and then imported beers; staff is friendly and helpful. Washrooms seems to be cleaner than your typical bar. I think they have food, but I didn’t get it last time around. Place has alot of regulars but the mix of the crowd is very diverse — definitely a blue collared bar(not a bad thing, mind you), and has many regulars. Parking is fairly ample, and the place is relatively easy to locate as it is nearby the Post Office, a mobile home park, and Maine West high school. A cool hang out place and I recommend it!

Its an ok bar. Decent drink specials. I go for the free pool on Sunday evenings. 8 or 10 pool tables??? Where?! There are only 4 I can remember. Maybe there is a hidden room downstairs that only localites know of. Patrons are mostly people from the neighborhood. Can’t say I’ve ever seen any cuties in there, other than one of the bartenders. Not saying you won’t find any, just saying I haven’t seen any yet. Weekends, it can get busy, you won’t find parking in the lot. City folk may not find this bar appealing. I have a few friends that moved out of Chicago and live nearby. They never join me here. On one occasion we’d met a few women that were flying pretty high.(Meth? m/b) Its not the only bar around. Find more bars NE of here on Mannheim.

Lots of regulars, but a big mix of people… ages ranging from 20’s — 60’s. There are 8 or 10 pool tables, electronic dart boards, decent bartenders and servers. All I’ve ever had off the menu is the appetizers and they’re okay, not the best wings or cheese sticks, but ok. There’s also a patio, so when the weather is warm you can always eat and drink outside. Location isn’t bad, just west of Lee/Manheim on Oakton, although there isn’t much other night life around it. Then there’s the karaōke… every Thursday night! There’s an older couple that’s been running the karaōke for some time, and they will be leaving in May(retiring to Kentucky) but for the time being they are still there and run a good show. The karaōke, however, will still be there after they leave… I’m not going to advertise the people taking over, though I know them and they are GREAT! But the karaōke will still be there every Thursday night.
