Here’s a disappointing story: I hadn’t been to Tree Haus for lunch in a while so I decided it was time. I even looked at the menu online before I left the office and picked out a yummy sounding salad I hadn’t yet had the opportunity to try. When I got there, I was greeted by a sign on the door stating that Tree Haus is now open for catering and private parties only. They thank their loyal customers for their great success but have«decided to continue to offer the best service and wonderful food for private reservations, party rentals and catered events only.» I’ve upped my star rating from my previous review anyway because the issues I mentioned were remedied. The menu was expanded from when they first opened and included several great sandwich and salad choices. I got something different every time. They even started accepting plastic for any amount. All of the sandwiches, salads and soups I tried were fresh and unique and the portions were just right. The employees were helpful and friendly. Plus they had a really nice grassy outside eating area. So I mourn the loss of a healthy sandwich and salad lunch spot in Uptown. I wish the Tree Haus team the best of luck with the catering business.

Sandwiches were good, but as another Unilocaled pointed out, without a side they seemed quite overpriced for what you were getting. Décor took me back to life in the ol’ housing co-op in Ann Arbor. Had an interesting experience checking out so it seems like they may have some kinks to work out. I wish them the best, but I don’t think I’ll be back soon.

Thanks, Unilocalers! You brought me to this wonderful, quaint restaurant for lunch with my son. It was up to me to find a healthy restaurant for us to meet, and based on the reviews here, it sounded perfect. It was. Luckily, we had a warm day in November and enjoyed sitting outside. The ladies that work/run this place are so sweet. They took wonderful care of us and prepared great food. My son and I both enjoyed sandwiches and I had a wonderful bottle of beer. I will be back for another lunch when I’m in Denver. Such a gem.

Super cool place to come have a wine and sit inside of this cozy little place or outside under a beautiful tree with a downtown backdrop. The lady that owns it is very nice and the food is delish as well. Great little Happy Hour also.

After some light shopping I decided to finally stop here. I always wondered what I was walking by and now I know. A delectable and cute little Bistro. The atmosphere is quaint and a comfortable environment for chatting and relaxing. Little chairs and tables, local artwork on the walls, and even an upstairs I’ve read about. I decided to opt for an espresso beverage and based on the description from the woman behind the counter I tried the GF chocolate chip cookie — she sold me on it. They warmed up the cookie for me in the oven(no microwave) and served on a nice plate. My coffee was hot and steamy and had the flavor I was looking for. The GF cookie was my first try of anything GF and I have to say I was very impressed. I may eat GF more often if it tastes like that. They offer an eclectic menu often baking whatever their heart desires. The baked goods from here are very good and I would venture back for a mid-evening dessert. They also offer HH and I believe they have wine and beer for the asking. If you’re ever in the neighborhood I highly recommend a visit here for a snack.

I am not entirely sure how to rate this place. Food was great and I love their dedication to organic and well sourced ingredients. Honestly, not an awesome value for the price, though. I had the Joshua Tree wrap– organic chicken salad wrapped in a Norri roll. 8 bucks with no side to speak of so for a whole meal you need to add a salad or soup. This makes lunch $ 12 –16. They should offer a half sandwich with soup or salad combo for under $ 9 is my opinion to be a decent deal. My friend asked if she could have their lox and caper sandwich on a bed of greens. It was tasty and we appreciated their accommodating her but so small! It was more like greens with a bite of lox than a real meal. She left hungry. At the end of the meal I tried to order a matcha latte, which was on their menu. The woman behind the counter made me a mate latte instead. I pointed out the difference and she searched through the tea bags and told me they had no green tea left. Match is green tea but is not usually in bags. I said fine, I’ll just drink the mate. I was a little incredulous that she then charged me for the drink. Really? I should have said no thanks and gone to the café next door for what I really wanted. With tip, the lunch ended up being nearly $ 30 and one of us had to get a snack right afterwards due to small portions. I would love to see this business thrive as the food is tasty and the décor is fantastic. However, they need to start giving a better value for their prices and really some small adjustments would do it. Also, that drink thing was ridiculous.

I have a sister that is vegan and gluten intolerant, so as you can imagine finding a restaurant that caters to her dietary needs while visiting can be challenging. Tree Haus Bistro delivered with delicious options, and they were so very patient and accommodating. My sister was able to piece together a delicious filling entrée for herself, while my brother in law and I feasted on «normal» food. Everything was delicious, and eating outdoors under the trees was incredibly relaxing. A fantastic place!

Great little place. You’d never suspect the gluten free cookies are such. I was craving a cookie and doubtful that they would satisfy me, but I stand corrected. The inside is super cute, the outside does it’s best to remind you of an English garden. The coffee is made with love and the serve bottled beer too. My new coffee place in City Park!

Really cute visually. Nice folks although I feel like if you are going to market yourself as a gluten free and vegan friendly place your wait staff should be well-versed on all of your items! The portions were small and a tiny bit bland but overall yummy. It looked to be more like a neighborhood coffee place. And don’t go here if you are in a hurry!

I tried something other than the coffee and pastries and stand by my five-star review. I had the quiche of the day and salad, and both were so delicious. And I got to sit outside. Love that.

I was between a 3 – 4 rating for Tree Haus bistro. My friends and I decided to try and get a quick bite here. That was the first mistake. This place is a quaint little establishment, where you could imagine ladies lunching in fancy hats, outside in the garden. It is a beautiful space and we had a wonderful spot under a shade tree. So nothing moves fast here; we had to have the owner/chef come out and tell us about the gluten free and vegan options, which took a gagillion years. When realizing we were going to be late to our next stop, we asked them to wrap our food to go, and they did and they were nice about it. Although this place lists gluten free as a «selling point» of sorts, their g-free menu basically entails, salads, or bun-less sandwiches. This is fine, but I’m just not sure g-free should be one of its labels, here on Unilocal. They do not have a grill, so the menu is somewhat limited, but my veggie burger was really good. Next time I would get it without so much cheese. Moral of the story: don’t go here when you are in a hurry. Go when you are wearing your fancy, Sunday clothes, a hat, and are ready to drink tea, coffee, or sip mimosas for brunch. This is a fancy establishment and should be treated as such.

Went here on a recent Saturday to catch up with old co-workers. Arrived at 11am just as they were transitioning from the breakfast to lunch menu. Really wanted to try the quiche but it wasn’t available just yet. You order at the counter and then they bring you your food. Since it was raining out we wandered upstairs to sit. I wound up ordering the Smoked Salmon Smear sandwich which was delicious and comes with green apple slices. The chai tea was really good as well and I was tempted to order a second. The room upstairs was quiet and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. I’d really like to try their quiche next time.

A surprisingly intimate setting for being in a busy area surrounded by hospitals and offices. Great, fresh ingredients, and the mushroom side dish is wonderful.

Tree Haus is that kind of low-key, lunch spot you take a small group of friends when looking for a cozy conversational atmosphere. Perhaps it’s because the place retains the quality of an actual house, but I think it’s just the general friendly atmosphere that does it for me. Food is good, as is the coffee. I tried their noodle salad and it was aces! Beer on tap is often flat, however, which is the only reason for the minus star — otherwise, it’s deliciousness all around!

WOW! What a great discovery. I received a postcard in my Capital Hill newspaper and went over today to discover the most pleasant and comfortable little café with a difference. If you enjoy the Tattered Cover old timey country like bed & breakfast atmosphere where there is no tension or hurry to enjoy a little peace and quiet, you will love the Tree House Bistro. Very delicious sandwiches, soups, and home made deserts. The atmosphere is done most excellently in very good taste. Art, music, full size hand painted murals. There is a hidden upstairs in this old house restoration that is like three living rooms in one open plan design. There is also a french doored meeting room for small lunch meetings etc. I can’t wait to go back again. Ask for Elizabeth who has an overflowing amount of charm, good taste, and experience in making you feel welcome.

After a workout on Sunday, I was in desperate need of some coffee and I was trying to find a place to grab a quick cuppa. As I was approaching 17th Avenue, I recalled that Grind Haus was nearby, so I pulled up. Then I realized that GrindHaus was no longer there, but a new business opened up, Tree Haus Bistro. The entrance is on a side street and not facing 17th Avenue, as the old Grind Haus was. Tree Haus has a small menu and offered a smoked salmon dish that sounded yummy, but I wasn’t hungry enough for a meal. I was really interested in trying out a $ 2 mimosa, but I demurred this time. I ordered a vanilla latte and I asked about other flavored syrups and learned they only offer vanilla and chocolate syrups; however, the vanilla and chocolate syrups are house made. My coffee was delicious. There weren’t much in the way of pastries, but I stopped in around 1 pm, so I’m sure that accounted for it. If I’m in the neighborhood again, I may pop in for a sandwich, because the menu looked tasty. I did get to try a warm(just from the oven) Meyer lemon tart and it was simply yummy, with the right amount of tart & sweet flavors. The Tree Haus is a converted house, with bar stools off on one side of the«kitchen» area, as well as seating in one room and there is additional seating upstairs as well.

I was directed to the Tree Haus by a coworker of mine today for a bite to eat without having to drive downtown. The small bistro has the cozy feeling of a bed and breakfast, with a nice dining area inside and a small patio outside(for better weather anyway). The staff was friendly and open to questions, so I talked with Sharon about the place. She described it as a healthy and organic restaurant meant to serve the local hospitals and residents with a pleasant alternative to fast food. I tried ‘The Aspen’, a sandwich with pastrami, swiss cheese, Aleutian Island Dressing, ‘Champagne’ sauerkraut, all on toasted rye bread. I was slightly afraid to try a sandwich with such a combination, but was rewarded when I took my first bite into the tasty thing. A good place for a good sandwich, I would recommend it to the casual passerby and locals alike.
