CLOSED as of 1÷18÷15. I’m depressed. This place was such a part of Denver’s history, and it holds very personal meaning to me, as my wife and I had our first date there. I’m sure there are a lot of other people who have the same sentiments. We’ll miss you…

Nothing special. Cute decoration and paintings, but that’s about it. Awful table service, super slow, and way over-priced for the portions. Waste of a prime location if you ask me, but they had decent food and wi-fi. It wasn’t all bah, hum-bug!

This place has a really cool vibe to it. The sandwiches are priced moderately and the staff is attentive enough. Remember it is a café and not a restaurant. Do not expect your every need to be catered and expect to be sitting some time waiting on your server. That’s okay with me. I’ve been here before but never wrote a review. This time I had the French onion dip and the roast beef sandwich that it came with. Nothing special, but the sandwich was hot and toasty, while the onion dip wasn’t too salty or sweet. It is actually some of the best onion dip I have had in awhile. Also, a few nights a week, they have an open mic night at the bar adjacent to the café. Really cool bar staff with a great warm cider.

I make sure I have breakfast here at least once every time I’m in Denver. I’m obsessed with their jalapeño spread? smear? I don’t know the difference between the two, but I think it’s one of those. Honestly, if someone at the restaurant reads this and wants to message me about how y’all make it, that’d be awesome. I promise that I’m not a competitive business, I live in Atlanta, and you know I’m telling the truth because I said y’all. I’ll probably screw up the recipe anyways, so you’ve got nothing to worry about.

Came here for a few drinks before heading to a concert at the nearby Pepsi Center. Intimate place that is dark(if you want to read the menu bring a flashlight), quiet and has nice mellow music in the background. They had one Tv in the bar area so if you’re a sports fanatic this isn’t the place for you. Didn’t try the food, but they had a wide range of beverages from coffee, wine, hard liquor and beer. I chose a draft beer that was so cold there was a bit of ice forming at the top. On a final note this place showcases local artists and their creations for sale, which coming from a family with an artist is much appreciated.

Very disappointed. I had a sandwich and salad and the proportions were way too small for the price. Also I could have made this sandwich at home it wasn’t very good. However, my friend’s eggs Benedict looked very good. I won’t be back here unless it’s for coffee and studying.

If those walls could talk… I’m one of those former punks who used to hang at Paris on the Platte in the smoky book store, listen to loud music and drink Cambrig til the wee hours of the morning. It used to be a meeting place for all kinds — a real gem for people watching and making new friends. My hair is more or less normal these days and I quit smoking long ago. I guess you could say I sold out, but Paris did, too and that makes me sad. I’ll pop in there every once in a while for nostalgia, but it’s really preppy now and not my scene at all. At least one thing’s for sure, the Cambrig is still top notch!

I like this iconic Denver coffee shop a whole lot and have been coming here on and off for a number of years. Long past is the smoky bookstore and one man bands. What is left is a fun warm coffee shop with a history. Get a pitcher of latte or a my favorite Earl Grey malted milk shake! There is a wine bar as well that boasts a quite a nice list and menu as well.

This is a long overdue review but I hosted a friend’s bridal shower here in June of this year(2014) and it was fantastic. I worked with Faye before hand and she helped me with all of the details and was very easy to work with. On the day of they were very attentive the food was great and we always had full drinks. The private area space is also so cute and perfect for a bridal shower as they have a couch and recliner for the bride to sit and open gifts and it opens out into an outdoor area in the back. We really enjoyed Paris on the Platte and would definitely recommend it!

Not sure why this place only has 3 stars??? Baffling. Why it deserves 5 stars: –It’s the only coffee shop that it is open past 6pm on any day of the week… in the entire city. This ties well with the next reason it deserves 5 stars: –It has a really cool, European/South American/big city vibe thanks to well-thought out décor. Combined with the first point, this is a «big city» coffee shop. That is, a coffee shop with actual character, versus ANOTHER hipster shop(dazbog, Crema, Pablos, Metro). Nothing against all these trendy/urban shops, but they are just the status quo and don’t offer anything interesting anymore. I’ve been coming here on the regular since realizing it’s hours of opp fit my lifestyle. I see people enjoying desserts on dates, reading books, on their computer doing work, or literally just sitting and chatting over an espresso. Paris has a real position in the work of coffee offering a variety of unique drinks/eats that helps you feel like you’re taking a step out of the hipster mecca of Denver coffees hops and into a Buenos Aires or Parisian neighborhood hangout. 5 stars.

My husband and I are from out of state, so he found this place on FourSquare. It was nice! I had Greek salad which had two lettuce types and plenty of feta, variety of olives, etc. $ 10 a little steep though(portion was small/medium, but maybe east coast portions– from where we are– are out of control). Husband had delicious espresso shake! It really was made with espresso. He also ate cup of hearty turkey veg soup with half sandwich, also a little steep for about $ 10, I thought. Large space inside, about 3 different rooms, plus some outside seating in front and then in back! Artsy, renovated warehouse. Uncomfortable chairs, but there are cushioned booths and a sofa in back room. Service and clean up a little slow on a Wednesday late morning/lunch time, but maybe they were understaffed or I have efficient east coast expectations. This place is a worth a try. There are so many tempting variety of drinks on menu– a real café!

My review is a bit different than others because I came here at night for a drink and I sat at the bar. It might be different sitting at a table(actually, know it usually is) so being at the bar the service was good. I didn’t eat anything so I cannot comment on that but I’d be interested to check it out. The place was pretty empty but we opted to get a drink anyway. I thought it was a cool little spot to hang out but not sure I would come here for a drink unless I was looking for a quite one-on-one conversation.

Paris has fallen from grace from what it used to be, say 7 – 10 years ago. It has always been an alternative/artsy place to go, but gone are the glory days you spent here in your 20’s sipping chai and immersing yourself in the progressive counter-culture. Friendly service and the inviting atmosphere it used to have has largely been replaced by bitchy, snappy staff members and a cooler-than-thou attitude that seems to overwhelm the place now. The quality of food and drink has dwindled considerably. It’s obvious they have taken shortcuts/cut corners over the years. Plan on flagging someone down for service should you need any, and a pissy, rush-you-along attitude once you do. Maybe all the tortured artists and hipsters who work here are so consumed with being cooler than everyone else that the place has suffered as a result. If you’re looking for a café/bar hangout that’ll provide a colorful alternative vibe, you’re much better off going to Leelas or something downtown.

Atmosphere was kind of cool. Went on open mic night. A pretty cool little place. The food was great. We sat at the bar but the waitres/bar tender was not very friendly. Seemed to want to rush us the entire time. Overall not a bad place could be better in the service dept.

Both times my wife and I have gone to Paris on the Platte the service has been horrendous. In fact, we felt like we were inconveniencing them with our business! Needless to say we are disappointed because we recently moved into the neighborhood and hoped it would be different. Fortunately there are plenty of other businesses eager to serve their customers on Platte Street!

The smoke and flies are more than enough to make me never go back. DOSOMETHING about your ventilation. The smoke(from burnt food/bad ventilatio — something in your kitchen) burns my eyes and I can’t breathe. I actually get stuffy from sitting in the café. Flies are so bad that I spend half my time swatting at them to keep them off of me and my coffee. People that work there are nice enough and the food menu is good, but I can’t function sitting in their space. I’ve really tried to stick it out(been there ~ 6 times) b/c it’s a great location for me, but I can’t do it any longer. I honestly don’t know how the staff handles it. I have a headache from the smoke after leaving this place after only 30 minutes.

A wonderful place that is really close to the Platte River and Confluence Park. I love this little café! I had a Café Marquis which included a New Orleans style coffee with some coca and cinnamon. I just remembered it was heavenly. My friend had a Café Royal which looked amazing and I look forward to getting that next time! There were times when the place got busy but it never deterred our waitress from coming to check back with us. A couple tables had people with their Macs just pounding away at their work while many people dropped by to converse. This is a quaint café with a dimly lit and laid back atmosphere. I’m excited to come back over and over. A great place to wind down for the night or stop by to catch up with an old friend. Even when it started to rain outside no one budged from their seats until it started pouring!

It could be a memory of my youth, but I love the vibe of this place. My very straight-laced husband is out of his element here, but it doesn’t matter how many times I have been here, it feels like it did when I was in my 20’s. That being said, walking around the corner and not seeing the old bookstore, but a bar, was a bit of a shock. I got over it quickly. The bearded bartender that talked to us about the history of Absinthe was delightful. Shimmying up to the bar, watching some SportsCenter and enjoying some flavored Gin and Tonic while my husband clicked off his bucket list with his Absinthe was the best way to start our date night. If we’d of had time, I would have lounged in a chair with a Crowbar and some chocolate cake, but the night was young and there was still a ton to do! Go, check it out, look at the local art on the walls for sale. It’s amazing, go in with an open mind. It was around a lot longer before they started building up around there.

Fun place for live music, interesting art and they have a solid whiskey collection. They are also the only ones in the area who sell cigarettes(I’ve heard), though they are $ 8 a pack(I’ve heard). I’ve only eaten there once for good reason. Back when I ate gluten, I had the grilled cheese sandwich(cheese melt, actually — not grilled, bleh). It was soggy and inedible. The staff is great, the ambiance is mellow yet fun, and I will be back. With a full stomach.

Maybe they deserve a 4, but in had to give them a three. If you go for brunch and you don’t like eggs, you’re going to have a bad time. Every item has eggs. Potatoes are soggy with oil. Guacamole is fresh and good but it tastes like smooth, slightly sour garlic. Main menu didn’t have much in the way of vegetarian items that enticed me. Felt a little let down. Coffee was great though. I asked for a special iced espresso with almond milk latte. They have vegan smoothies and some fun drinks like the iced mocha crowbar and iced espresso over ice cream. Nice patio space outside, but all the tables are flimsy and wobbly.
