What happened — where did you guys go??? I went in for my weekly fix and theplace is now run by «new owners» who make pizza like it came out of the old chef boy ardee box mix — REALLYLAME. This was my go to near the Capitol — sad to see you all are gone. Dave — where are you???

good place to grab a slice & a cold POP for lunch. Pizza is good but not great at the counter. The guys are always friendly. The pies are pretty good if you get a whole one to go.

The pizza here is absolutely incredible! Fred knows how to bake an incredible New York City pie. I was a big fan and would highly recommend it. It is definitely a good spot to pick up your pizza and leave. The ambience is pretty average, but the food is worth a visit.

I’m kinda weird about pizza, but Joey’s is awesome. The crust is fantastic — no pizza bones left! And of course the owner Dave and his brother are always super nice ;-)

Best NY style crust in Denver, hands down. Sliceworks has become my new go-to for an after-the-bar excursion, and Pizza Fusion is a good option if you want a drink with your pizza… but this place? Beats them all, for cheaper. My only complaint is the hours but it’s still worth a lunch-break trip or an order to go on your way home from work.

Wow, not sure what all the rave reviews were about. The guy at the counter was friendly, but the slices were just not that tasty — too thin, too greasy, and too few toppings. The soda was disgusting — the Diet Coke tasted like flat rootbeer, wonder how that happened. Oh, and Fox News is blaring. 2⁄5 since the prices are very fair, and maybe the full pies are better, but if you’ve got the cash — check out Sliceworks up the street instead.

A solid slice for a good price. Nothing really exciting in terms of topping options, but affordable and tasty. I’ll have to try a whole pie one day to get it fresh(if you order slices, they reheat what has already been made). I wish they stayed open a little later, but I’ll keep them in mind for lunch or a snack.

I Loved This Place! My brother, his girlfriend and my girlfriend all took a road trip from Los Angeles… it was our first time to Denver. It was our last day and we had just checked out of our hotel. We were looking for a place to eat. We came across Joey’s Pizza, a small little joint! The pizza was great and the service was really friendly. I think the owner was working the register. I highly suggest this place! Oh and btw the door says they open at 11:00am but they try to open earlier, so check the door! Aha :)

Super-friendly New York-style(in this case, Colfax-style) pizza that doesn’t break the bank. As many have stated, it’s pretty much a hole in the wall; I didn’t even know what their hours were because they weren’t posted online or on Unilocal.I just called in one day and hey, a few minutes later there I was enjoying a sweet thin-crust Pepperoni and Olive pizza. If you’re into healthy, this place not be it. It’s on the extra-greasy side, but will hit the spot if you’re looking for something along those lines. Seating is also very sparse, so best to order take-out if you’ve got a group with you. I just wish they opened a bit later so I can grab a slice on my walk back from music shows happenin’ a couple blocks away. That and perhaps a few more adventurous toppings. Like chorizo. Mmmmm.

Delicious greasy goodness… but not too much! Joey’s Pizza is a great local place to get awesome NY style pizza. Not only that, the Stromboli = awesome and they even have decent salad! This location is tops for the lunch crowd although it can get crowded as seating is limited. However, if the office is in need of a pizza for lunch this is the best place(for either pick up or delivery). The staff really goes above and beyond to assure the customer is happy — a rarity for Cap Hill. When my office ordered pizza and salad they even included a pair of tongs to serve — now that’s attention to detail! High marks for this place!

I’ve cheated on Joey’s a few times but it just made me appreciate their pizza even more. Of course I wish they were open weekends but what can you do? They are open until 6pm during the week and delivery is still super quick. Tried the sausage pizza the last time and it was one of the best I’ve tasted. My cheatin’ days are over. **Joey’s is now open until 8pm M-F.

The service at Joey’s was really great. The guy behind the counter was genuine and considerate at a level that, had I left it unacknowledged, would have been a serious disservice to the social value of friendliness. The restaurant is small but has seating for dine-in. The pizza was fresh but it only tasted ok. The cheese slid off the pizza when bit, the sauce was a little watery/not there, and the crust was crispy but tasteless. The prices weren’t bad, so if you want to get a decent pizza for a good couple bucks, Joey’s could probably slice that up for you.

After much searching, I have finally found it: the perfect NY slice in Denver. This place is exactly the kind of pizza I grew up on in New York — thin-crust but still chewy, easily foldable, lots of cheese, and sauce with some character to it. The place even looks like the dumpy neighborhood places that traditionally serve the best stuff. The walls are adorned with Jets and Mets paraphernalia and every time I’ve been in the guy behind the counter(Joey himself?) has been wearing a Jets shirt. If you’re coming in for a slice there are usually only about three or four options on top of regular cheese. I’ve tried the sausage and pepperoni but my favorite is still the plain slice with generous amounts of garlic and oregano on top. This place is the real deal and one of the few places I find myself spontaneously fantasizing about on a regular basis. Check it out!

When I think of what a Pizza place on Colfax should be like… this place comes to mind. It’s small, it’s a little bit grungy, and it’s very very good. The guy behind the counter is really nice, which is good. The pizza is great, among the best I’ve had in Denver. The prices are average. A large pizza and a couple of drinks is $ 20ish dollars, which isn’t terrible. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the small drink selection and the really limited hours of service. If it’s open, you should definitely give it a try at least once. The TV on the wall is small and outdated as well, though I don’t think many people are coming here to watch a game.

This place has amazing pizza!(It may even be better than Benny Blanco’s, only because it’s not as salty). If it’s so good, then why don’t they get 5 stars? They lose a star for their hours. They aren’t open on weekends and they don’t stay open during the week. Unless I’m near capitol hill for lunch, its pretty much impossible to catch these guys when they are open. My favorite is the meatball pizza. YUM!

This is exactly what I think of when I think of a neighborhood pizza place. You got an awesome owner who can leave you alone if you want or talk your ear off about the Rockies if you want that too. You got a solid pie at a solid price with excellent lunch specials that give you lots of food for little dough. And you got a great location for people watching or for reading the paper at the smattering of tables. No it’s not fancy, but pizza places don’t really need to be.

Pretty decent NY style pizza by the slice, and a good deal for a fast and yummy lunch. They lunch special was an easy chioce — 2 slices and a drink or 1 slice, a salad, and a drink — both just over $ 5 bucks.
