Very good service. The yellow lentil soup was wonderful. The Greek salad with fresh warm pita also was fabulous. Looking forward to going back

I always have a hard time deciding which restaurant to visit when I come over to this area, and it’s because they’re all very good. The last couple of times I’ve been here it hasn’t been quite as crowded, but maybe it was an off time or something. I’ve always been happy with my meals here. The menu is pretty standard, but that means you can try the same dishes at multiple places and compare. However, they do have a few unusual items, so maybe try those if you want something different than the norm. You can always get the enormous combo platters and try everything, which is highly recommended. This place obviously is more Syrian-style cuisine than what their neighbors offer, so if you like that version of middle eastern food, then this is worth a stop for sure. No matter which variant you prefer, you’ll enjoy eating here.

I’m from Glendale, Ca, where we have our fair share of Armenian, Lebanese, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean cuisine and I thought the lamb and beef shawarma was quite tasty!

this place has hit rock bottom. used to be good with some homemade pita. No one in the restaurant at lunchtime and now I know why. One guy working there made our terrible food(couldn’t finish) and served the table. it was painful to get our check so we could pay and leave! wont be back.

Monday December 28, 2015 at about 11:30 a.m. I have been going to Damascus for at least 30 years. It is one of the few restaurants in Denver that I will consider a 40 mile round trip drive for. However, after the service and food we received today, I may have to reconsider. When we arrived we were seated at a dirty table, and it took almost 10 minutes for the waiter to come over and wipe the table. At the time there were only 2 other people in the restaurant at one table. After the table was wiped, it took another 10 minutes for us to get menus, and another 10 minutes to get water and silver. At this point, we should have left, but because we had already driven 20 miles, we decided to stick it out. After another 10 minutes we got our hummus, which is usually flawless, but today tasted of just tahini and spices, missing garlic, lemon, etc. It was not the hummus we had come to expect at Damascus. We also had to hunt the waiter down for more water for everyone at the table, howeverbhe brought only 1 glass. When we told him we wanted water for everyone, he took our old glasses, but took 10 minutes to bring us more water(there are still only 2 tables, a 2 top and a 4 top(ours) in the restaurant. When our entrees arrived(50 – 60 minutes from when we walked in) the kids gyro and chicken kabob sandwiches were cold, and my husband and I waited another 10 minutes for our entrees to be delivered. My chicken kabob was way over cooked and my husband’s vegetarian plate was not up to what we expected, hummus was off, as was the babaganush. We had to hunt the waiter down to get our check(there were only 2 two tops and our 4 top in the restaurant). I don’t know if or when we will be back, it was that big of a disappointment.

I had the worst experience ever in this restaurant. Me and my friends came over to have lunch. First thing is that the food was really late. By really late, I am talking about at least 40 minutes. Many would say this might mean they are making the food fresh. No, when the food came it was extremely cold as if they pulled it straight out of the refrigerator. It was the same for all my friends. It was only the bread that was heated. My friends ordered chai, and then when looking at their cup I decided to order chai as well. I think their chai was ok, they didn’t complain about it. However, my chai was extremely late, and when it came over it was nothing close to a chai or the one served to my friends. I did mention this to the server. when it was time for the check, it took forever as well. This is by far the worst experience i had with a restaurant. Never will I be back for sure.

The baba famous and hummus were great appetizers. The baba Ganoush was smoky. The flat bread was light and lovely. Main course of the mix grill made me quite a happy customer. The service was good and the restaurant was nice.

I was tricked by Unilocal. The prices on the menu available through Unilocal are totally incorrect. The food is pretty good here for sure, but they don’t give the portions that some other restaurants do. It would also be nice if they would give you some dipping sauces for your meats. The people who work there are very friendly though.

I love Middle Eastern and Mediterranean so I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur. This is the best that I’ve had yet and would have given it a 6 star rating if I could have! The baba ghanoush and hummus were amazing and the pita is homemade. The lamb roast won me over though! Well seasoned and so tender! They also have this amazing garlic paste that looks like Greek yogurt but it’s so much better! The service was so great and friendly too. Just do it!

Wonderful little family owned restaurant! The falafel is delicious and just the right crunch, the hummus is smooth and the desserts are amazing. Did I mention they have won some awards at the Taste of Denver? Prices are very reasonable and the service is just great! I really enjoy speaking to Mahmoud Kassir and his wife about life in Syria and life in the United States. They are so genuine and inspiring. You are definitely in for a treat!

Hummus was good. The salad was a little different– just the seasoning used on it was not what I expected. I had the lamb kebabs and they were a tad overcooked. I like my lamb medium rare and I guess I should have said so. It made them a bit too dry. I didn’t think the sauce served on the side was very flavorful. I like some heat and a bit more seasoning(salt). The rice was very good. The pitas are flat and pretty large and pretty good. All in all, it would not be my first choice to return.

This place has phenomenal service and food! I went after reading their review in 5280 and was surprised at how much their food exceeded my expectations. Make sure you get the hummus, preferably your body weight because you’re going to want to eat it for days.

Our food was delicious! We were served the smoothest humus I’ve ever had. It was delightful! The Lentil Soup was perfect. I also had the Lamb Pie – my vocabulary fails to come up with the proper words. It was a lovely spice blend in a soft and fresh dough with a creamy base. Heavenly! My daughter had the Falafel Sandwich and Fries. They too were scrumptious! The waiter was attentive and kind. I look forward to going back and trying one of their desserts!

If I could, I would exist solely on hummus, baba ganoush, and falafel. I am forever on the hunt for authentic, tasty Middle Eastern food — and Damascus showed up in a Unilocal search one day — so we decided to try it. I typically lean towards Lebanese(it’s what I know!) but Damascus is Syrian(obviously), and very close to that. Firstly, the service was incredibly friendly. The young man who seated and served us was upbeat and seemed to really enjoy his job — which honestly took the experience over the top for me. The restaurant is definitely no-frills, but his awesome approach to customers and the food will have us coming back. The food was excellent — I ordered the vegetarian platter and my boyfriend ordered hummus with lamb — both were good sized portions for a reasonable price. The hummus and baba were both phenomenal — creamy and full of flavour. Their bread is made there and it, too, was excellent. The falafel had a perfectly crispy(not overcooked) exterior and a soft centre, and the salad was dressed with just enough dressing and sumac. Everything seemed very fresh — which is imperative with Middle Eastern food. Overall, I was impressed with this little ‘hole in the wall’ type place — I will definitely return. Thanks, Damascus!

Everything was so perfect here! A friend and I came in for a late lunch and shared the vegetarian platter. It was quite big, both of us were satisfied. Everything tasted unbelievable! Fresh, hot, and comforting. The service was good and we had a nice conversation with our waiter. I plan on coming back often

My husband and I had dinner here. We had ordered hummus for the appetizer and the waitress informed us that our entrees would come with a side of hummus already. I’m a huge fan of hummus and thought, well if there are left overs we can have them for lunch so we ordered the hummus anyway. I’m so glad that we did because it was delicious. We had one big plate of hummus, and two small plates. We ended up having all of it! Next we were served a side salad. There was really nothing special about the salad. For our entrees… I had the Mousaka and my husband had the baked lamb. Both entrees were served with rice. To be honest, although a veterinarian meal, the Mousaka was far more tastier then the lamb. My husband agreed. He had the lamb shank there several times and was disappointed that they did not have that anymore. We also had the baklava and some hot tea. Stand stuff here. 3 stars I will give my Mousaka 5 stars for the flavor and portion size. I had enough for lunch the next day and it heated up perfectly. 3 Star to the baked lamb. 3 stars for the salad. 4 stars for the hummus. Finally, 3.5 stars for the service. We did have to wait a while for our drinks, boxes, and the check. We may be back for the Mousaka. ;-)

Damascus Restaurant is outstanding! My mom and I came here yesterday, it is a tricky place to find, it doesn’t have as much signage as nearby restaurants. Your best bet is to put it in your GPS if you aren’t familiar with the area. It is pretty small on the inside, just a few patrons were there around dinner time. Upon entering, I was greeted by a friendly waitress and ordered Mujahara to start. I have never had it before but it sounded like a good vegan option for a part time vegan like myself. It was sooo good! When mom finally found the place and joined me we decided to split the lamb kabob. A few minutes after ordering our server brought the hummus and salad which come with the entrée. The dressing on the salad was like nothing I have ever tasted before. The hummus was topped with beautiful oil and spices. A few minutes later, two large kabobs arrived. The lamb meat was out of this world, so good! The peppers and onions on the skewers complimented the flavors just right. It was seasoned to perfection. If you want some outstanding authentic Middle Eastern food, come here.

Very tasty and pretty-looking food. We ordered a Arabic sausage sandwich and chicken shawarma for a quick lunch. The sandwiches are only $ 6 – 7 and they were prepared very fast. The server was very fast and patient. He even wrote down the name of the album he was playing for me when I inquired about it. I would definitely come back and explore other dishes on the menu.

Had a meat plate and my girlfriend had the vegetarian plate. Both were really good and I found myself sneaking bites from her. I wish it wasn’t so far from downtown as I would love to come here more often. Definitely a place to go again if I find myself going out that way. Service was prompt and the food came quickly.

On a trip with some girlfriends and stumbled upon this gem hidden away in suburban denver. The staff was incredibly welcoming, the décor cute with its hint at Syrian(and other middle Eastern/African) heritage. After a day of hiking up the hills we were starving and the abundance of grilled kabobs hit all the right spots. Between the 8 of us we ordered almost everything on the menu, chicken, lamb, salmon, beef and it was all delicious! Because of every single thing we ate was amazing, I’d say just go ahead and order what you’d like no point in breaking it down here.
