Went to the deli this week and have been a customer for years. There was a sign on the door that the deli would open at 10, rather than 9 as usual. I waited until 10:15 and the door remained locked. Called the deli phone number and 2 people working inside would not answer the phone or come to the door. I could see them and they could see me. Not sure what the problem was but I was prepared to place a large order. I will not go back. I drove across town to buy meat and our family has many good memories of this restaurant. Too bad they will not be around for long without major changes.

As some of the recent reviewers said, this place has gone down hill. When I went there, the show case was very scarce, a lot less selections than they used to have years ago. I ordered a cuban sandwich which came with a pickle for $ 9.99. Nothing interesting or special. I could find far better cuban sandwich with less price. So disappointed. My jaw almost dropped after my bill came out to be over $ 22. All I had was a bag of pretzel(6 piece for $ 10.99), a can of soda for $ 2.45 and a not-so special cuban sandwich for $ 9.99. I don’t think I will ever return to this place anymore. I give 2 stars because the service was not bad. Too bad this place has changed so much.

I have been going to Continental Deli since it was started by Ted Jaeggi decades ago. He sold it to Continental and we have been regular customers pretty much most of my life(and I’m old!) However, since new owners have taken over, it has been more than disappointing! They don’t have half of the merchandise they used to have and as for the meats, cheeses and sausages — the deli case was dismal. Everything that I asked for was out and they blamed it on 1) not getting everything they ordered in their shipment and 2) it was coming tomorrow. I have been there before and heard these same excuses and it is getting old. That never happened with the previous owners. Not to mention that costs have increased substantially. A bag with a dozen Kaiser rolls costs $ 8! For bread! The homemade pastries are a thing of the past — instead I was directed to pastries obviously purchased wholesale somewhere else and taken out of the freezer. They were still in boxes, wrapped in plastic bags. Yuck. There is no more German«vibe» there — it is just another deli and a bad one at that. I miss being able to order what I wanted in German and the staff was wonderful. I miss Ingeborg giving out her samples! Between this and Andre’s closing, there is no longer a place to get our German fix. What are we going to do?

Great spot if you’re in the cherry creek area. Had the Cuban sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it! Costs about 10 bucks which I think is fair. Under new ownership and they seem to be doing well. Grab a European snack on your way out, some Swedish cookies make a great dessert!

Bought food to take home. Wieners etc. Noticed when I got home that cole slaw is $ 7 a pound. What!!! No one charges that much for cabbage. The kicker was its awful cole slaw. King Sooper and Safeway have better for about $ 2 a pound. Rip off.

The Reuben was known as the best in town… now it’s made in a little microwave behind the counter. Soggy and unappetizing. Different ownership = different quality.

I am pretty disappointed by the unfriendly and impersonal way that Continental Deli is now being run. The remaining employees no longer smile and the new owners are very brusque and don’t know their product. It is unfortunate, because I used to love coming here with my children, getting a cold wiener from the case, and stocking up on our German delicacies.

The deli was sold recently and all of the old staff but one is gone. The new owner is not German but owns other Italian delis. The store has been half empty, most of the products are not available. The cold meat section is limited and the staff doesn’t know the products they’re selling, the thickness of German cold meat, and apparently they’re unable to tell how much x ounces is. It sucks but I guess I know have to drive to the burbs to Karl’s delicatessen and get my other German products from world market(where there are many and they’re cheaper than at the deli anyway). The brand still sells at whole foods where the product is cheaper, too. Sad to see this authentic German place go.

I loved Continental Deli for 30+ years. I am so bummed they sold the location in Cherry Creek. The new place is plain, it’s gotten super expensive, no signs on anything, and the whole place is lacking personality. You can’t buy bread anymore, you have to pre-order it now REALLY. The associates in there are unfriendly and the place was emptier than I have ever seen it. They just lost a faithful customer and I think I won’t be the only one.

I took my mom to this place, since she likes to stock up on German coldcuts and other stuff. But when we went there the meats in the deli case were very sparse and some stuff that she wanted was sold out. We were originally being helped by an older lady, but then for no reason she left and then a younger guy showed up. He said that the reason for the shortage was that they missed a shipment that was supposed to have arrived the previous day, but there was an aire about his story that just didnt seem truthful. I think its time to find a different deli.

I can’t begin to say how disappointing my latest visit to Continental Deli was. Now, this review is based from the perspective of a former customer who loved this place, having recently moved to Denver and being delighted to find an authentic German deli serving authentic tasting foods and selling a well thought out selection of German dry goods, so you may find that it merits more stars for you. But for an existing customer, my most recent visit after the sale of the business was a terrible disappointment. Literally, the ineffable, happy, busy Germanic energy of the place has totally disappeared. Instead, glum staff mope around an empty business, many of the ethnic foods you could purchase including the home made pastries are gone, and the delightful breads which are the core of any deli are gone, replaced with generic options that didn’t taste interesting at all. In fact, I used to buy my bread there. I won’t be back. I lay the blame for this disaster squarely on the old owners, Continental Sausage, who pulled out without a continuity plan or support for the new owner, after promising us, their customers, that the businesses would continue to be run as before. The decision to sell and how it was executed was really a betrayal of Denver’s German cultural heritage, which tells me they aren’t interested in supporting their community. Together with the loss of Andre’s, this is just more evidence that Denver is rapidly becoming another generic city.

UNBELIEVABLEDREADFULANDTERRIBLYRUDECUSTOMERSERVICE. Christmas eve and I stopped by on a first time visit to the dump I now consider Continental Deli in the Cherry hills shopping district of Denver. If I were the owner of the establishment I would fire on the spot the female that was working there today. I say that from the perspective of a chef, fine diner, retired military officers and restaurant manager. If she is the owner or manager she should find a job where working with people is not a requirement. I do not care how good an establishment’s food is, employee’s can easily make it trash. Based on my first impression, I recommend avoiding this restaurant and purchasing any of there products at a retail sales establishment.

Continental Deli is a deli/market that also has a counter where you can order sandwiches and brats to eat in(they have about half a dozen tables inside and a few outside) or get it to go. Me and The Hubs stopped in for the first time today for a quick lunch, and I was impressed with the food. I had the ‘Brat of the Day’ special($ 7) which happened to be Thueringer today. The brat came with sauerkraut, potato salad, a Kaiser roll, and mustard. It was a super deal and everything was delicious(I especially liked their potato salad). The Hubs ordered their #3 specialty sandwich which is liverwurst and egg salad(to each his own…). He seemed to enjoy it. I’m not sure why I hadn’t been in here before today, but I will be back(after the holidays). One thing to note if you go now around the holidays is that the market section is jammed with shoppers buying sausages and whatnot and it takes a while to pay for your stuff since they only have one register. The problem is if you’re only there to eat, you have to wait in line with all the shoppers to pay for what you’ve ordered at the counter. Our food was ready before we got to the front of the line to pay. We managed, but it was a bit awkward.

Great little hole in the wall. Friendly people and delicious food. Also, interesting selection of German chocolate and other items for sale. I will come back for sure!

What a gem! We went here for lunch and had our socks knocked off. We each had a Reuben sandwich with a side of potato salad and they aren’t kidding around. It was incredible. We also loved the European style market they have. It took about 10 – 15 minutes to check out, but I could see why. It was lunch time on a Saturday and they have incredible offerings! We are hooked!

I was pretty disappointed by this place as I was expecting some great sandies and they were just meh I have better. I guess the real issue was the size… I make bigger sandwiches at home. They were super thin. I think if that had a little more weight to them they would have been better.

I’m not a very eloquent person but I just want to say, wow! This place is great for an informal lunch. The atmosphere feels legitimately European; the food is extra tasty; service was good; price was reasonable. A lot of the import items were a bit spendy but that’s expected.

Food and service was awesome. I love the fact that they also had a full deli counter and small market. I grew up in a german household so the fact that I could get some condiments and meats was just fantastic. I will be back!

I have been here a few times when I go to Cherry Creek. They have a great sausage and cheese collection. I was looking for Australian Coon/Bega tasty cheese here which they didn’t have. The two sandwiches I have ordered here for lunch were pretty good. I had Ham and Cheese on the panini press. It was kind of pricey, around $ 9 for a glorified grilled cheese but very tasty. I can get my vegeta spices here which is good. They also have a selection of Kinder chocolate. It’s definitely a german owned store since there’s a lot of German grocery items and german paper flags for sale. I lowered one star because of the small selection of grocery items and high price of the sandwich. I would feel better if the sandwich was around $ 4 to $ 5.

I have been here twice and frankly my first trip I thought it was just OK. My second trip was much better. I order the ham and brie sandwich and it really hit the spot. I also order sandwiched for the rest of the family and they all loved their sandwiches. It really is a mom and pop deli with a wonderful German atmosphere. I do think that they are a little pricy for a deli, thus the 4 stars instead of 5.

Me growing up in Switzerland i really miss some good food from home! Especially cheeses and meats! I do love seeing all the different candy’s and foods that I grew up with! I come here a lot for the meat! It reminds me of home. This is where I come for Raclette cheese and I love to serve Raclette to my American friends. It’s great entertaining food! Overall it’s very authentic and all of the dried goods are imported! The owners are Swiss/German. Everything is delicious! I’d recommend ALMDUDLER it’s a herbal drink from Austria!

They are known on the streets for having a killer Reuben and incredible sandwiches. My bread was barely toasted and soggy by the time I took my first bite. With a side of a Brockley concoction and a bottled soda, I was out of there for about an $ 11 lunch. 5 stars? Not yet my friends. But if you’re looking for a reliable sandwhich on the go, it’s a huge leap then what you’ll get from a chain.

This is a place I never expected to find or enjoy but after one bite into their Reuben I am more than impressed. The flavor, quality and care put into this sandwich and pastrami was astounding. The atmosphere is a little weird but enjoyable and I have had a couple of other sandwiches that didn’t hold up but the Reuben is within the top 3 best in denver.

This place is awesome! I can’t believe it took me so long to finally go here. The grocery had so many items that I loved buying while on a trip to Austria and Germany, that I didn’t think you could find in the US. Especially vienna wafers and curry ketchup. The sausages in the deli are delicious and the employees were all so nice and helpful.

This is a favorite lunch spot for us during the week. It is rarely crowded, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. My favorite? Goulash Thursdays! Everything is fresh and prepared in-house. After lunch take a look in the meat case for house sausages and other frozen delights. Their soups are great and often that have a good selection in the freezer to take home.

Great ruben, prob one of my favourites yet. My wife had the tune salad and that was also amazing. They also sell cheese and meats deli style. We ended up taking some food home for lunches.

Stumbled upon this place when we were in search of a quick lunch and I actually felt like having a sandwich in particular. Turned out to be a great find. They have a large deli filled with liverwurst, brats that they make in-house, sauerkraut. I ordered a club sandwich and bf got a Rueben. The sandwiches weren’t the best we’ve ever had but they were good. What I was more impressed with is the whole European market they have going on in there. There’s a bunch of cookies, condiments, even baking powder from Germany. Probably some things in there from other countries as well, but I was really impressed. They also have a fridge stocked with all of their housemade sausages– most of them are German, and a few of them Polish. I didn’t get to sample any but they sound amazing. Chicken & apple sausage, boar with apricot and cranberries, oh my. The only reason I didn’t pick any up on the spot was because we were off to run errands… I will definitely return and pick some of those up to try!

I’m not going to lie, possibly the best Reuben I’ve ever had. Today was my first time in the deli and as many other reviewers have said, its more of a sausage/cheese shop than a deli, but they make fantastic sandwiches. I look forward to going back for lunch as well as to buy food anytime we feel the need to cook sausage or brats at home. Glad I stopped in!
