Okay, so after a few years, and after more tries, this place is actually pretty good. Some of the items are not so great, their marinara sauce is a bit too spicy/hot, but on the whole, they’re pretty good. I mean, the steak is usually very good, their desserts are delicious, and OMG, do they know how to properly brew iced tea or what? Srsly, I have never had such good iced tea from anywhere else, I kid you not. Order the large, because you get twice as much for less than twice the price. And when I order, the staff is friendly, and the delivery drivers are nice guys, too. So my old complaint was written when I was practically starving and was having a really bad day. And hey, if they get slammed and only have one to three drivers, i get the slower delivery times, especially in inclement weather. Carl’s really has become one of my favorite restaurants over the years. I think I’m going to actually have to pay them a visit in person, instead of just ordering delivery. :)

The little immigrant is amazing as always. The pizza is very good and quality made. I know it’s your typical hole in the wall but hire some competent waitresses. The last few times we’ve been, these girls are almost comical and I’m sure the boss lets them know that. Lol

Went here years ago with my sister who loved this place. Hot pizza was great, service was good. Great to see an «old» stand by still going strong. (Went up to Tennyson and it was so packed… this place was perfect for us)

Just had my first pizza from here. The pizza sucks… crust is gross, sauce is weird, toppings are meh not to mention it took them an hour to deliver one pizza on a Tuesday night. I would actually rather order from big daddies and that says a lot…

I’ve been going to Carl’s Pizza since I was probably about 7 years old and I’m 28 now. I don’t live in the area, but I always recommend this place. I don’t care what anyone says, this is my favorite pizza I’ve ever eaten and I’ve had pizza all over. The crust is plain, but I like it because it’s simple and crunchy. The sauce must be good because in most places I tell them light on the sauce, but no need for that here. The toppings are delicious and fresh especially the Italian sausage. I like to order the super(pepperoni, mushroom, sausage, but exclude the onions). It’s not the most expensive, but not the cheapest and when I’m craving outstanding pizza, I drive to Carl’s.

Worst customer service ever! Little young girls that work the cash register need to learn to have respect for the customers! I grew up with Carl’s and the service isn’t anything like it was or should be. That includes the quality of the pizzas!

Carl’s a must for those that grew up in the NORTHSIDE(not highlands)! It is the little hole in the wall restaurant that always has great sevice and food. The Italian sausage they use is incredible. It’s one of those places that never changes and you can count on for good food always. We have never been disappointed!

I absolutely love this restaurant. Probably my favorite in NW Denver and I have been to them all. The staff is very attentive, just overall a great restaurant

Ate here for the first time after driving past for 20 years. Pizza was traditional and pretty good. Nothing special or outstanding but, cooked perfectly and all ingredients were good quality. The place was a perfect reminder of pizza joints oh my youth. But this one was perfectly clean and everything was in good shape — somebody is looking around here which is not the case in most places and mean a lot to me. The staff was great — friendly and smiley– and around just enough to let you know she was paying attention. Kitchen staff(open kitchen to the front room) was clean and well behaved. I didn’t have to listen to a bunch of useless yelling and stupid jokes coming out of the kitchen. Prices are not bad. I’d say try it if you like old school pizza that is done just right. Fifth star would have been for a truly fantastic crust and fresh mozzarella on the pizza.

Great place to eat! They have an amazing chicken Parmesan and the most important part of the meal is the wine Sunday! To die for! Seems like the company treats their staff good because every time we go in they seem to love their job!

I’ve been going to Carl’s since I was a child. After almost 40 years, it’s still a favorite. I’ve never had a bad meal. Among my favorites: the pizza(get the super), the sausage sandwich, the beef cutlet and chicken Parm, the hamburger steak, and the chicken Alfredo. Be advised, this isn’t high end Italian. This is good, simple Italian American. If you get a dinner and the soup of the day is navy bean, get the soup. Seriously, even if it’s the middle of the summer.

After just driving by for years, after a friend told me what a neighborhood mainstay Carl’s was in his youth, I had to try it out. The pizza isn’t bad, but it’s not that great either. The sausage, pepperoni, onions and cheese were all good quality and good quantity. There aren’t any super-high end ingredients, which is fine with me. But black olives are a premium price topping(seriously?) The problem was the sauce and the crust. The sauce is average, a little bland. The crust was, I’m sorry to say, bad. I’ve had worse on frozen pizza, pizza hut, and godfathers. That’s about it. It was such an odd texture, so perfectly, evenly about ¼″ thick all the way across, so perfectly round, and odd tasting that I’m pretty sure they use mass-produced frozen crusts. Which just didn’t make any sense when all the toppings were much better quality. For about the same price you can find better pizza in the area. On the other hand it is still way better than any chain pizza place, so Carl’s isn’t a bad choice.

This place is so old and I love it. It hasn’t changed, and it has that amazing«hole in the wall» kinda feel. Plus, the food is GOOD! A bit pricy, but you do get really excellent portion sizes. Service was great, quick on refills and requests. Will definitely be back for when I’m craving chicken Alfredo!(Try it, it’s amaze)

I brought a group here for dinner, and it’s rare that everyone gives a thumbs up to a place when we go, but this time they did. Surprisingly nobody ordered the pizza, but we all enjoyed our classic Italian dishes. This is one of the last surviving old-school Italian places in northwest Denver, and after finally making it over here, I can see why. You get a complete meal with bread, soup/salad, entrée and even a little spumoni or ice cream sundae, all for less than an entrée costs at most new places. There’s nothing fancy or earth-shattering about the menu, but it’s just good solid food. The minestrone was that day’s soup, and it was very good. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, ranging from calzones and parm to tortellini and lasagna. I can’t vouch for every single dish, but I tried two and enjoyed both. Their sauce is a traditional marinara, a little thin but pretty tasty. Fresh warm baguette bread comes out with your food as well, great for dunking into that extra sauce. I’m not sure why people were so down on this place, because everyone in my group was a fan and would return.

Hands down, I would would rather starve to death/eat a store bought pizza than go back here. Starting off with a pre-made crust and ending with week old ingredients. Not to mention the owner was rude when asked for a refund. Great place to avoid.

I’ve never had anything but pizza here, but it’s one of my fav’s in Denver. This is NOT your trendy, wood-fire oven thin crust type places. It’s local, fresh, delicious. It’s super casual, but I kinda love that. It’s old-school. Get the sausage on the pizza; and the regular crust is the best(thin is fine, but regular is better).

OMG I need to vom right meow. After a night of heavy boozing and philandering, pizza sounded like the bee’s knees. This pizza was the opposite of bee’s knees. I would have been happier with a $ 3 frozen pizza from the grocery store. The most flavorful part was my salty tears and the crust tasted stupid. Overall, horrible decision, waste of money and calories, I wouldn’t order this pizza for my worst enemy. I’m very disappointed in you Carl. For shame!

Loved this little hole the wall Italian joint! They fill your wine glass to the tippy top! A+ in my book! They also do spaghetti to go! How awesome is that?! Service was spectacular! Spumoni was on the house — and it was amazing! We will definitely return!

Sir Nicholas and I have a standing tradition of going to Enzo’s End and then to Elitch Lanes for Valentine’s day. However, this year Valentine’s Day fell on a Tuesday, the one day that Enzo’s End is closed so we had to make alternate arrangements. I have driven by Carl’s Pizza many times and always thought it looked so homey and friendly that we decided to check it out pre-bowling for our pizza dinner. The interior did not disappoint with what I expected the atmosphere to be — it was old school and very classic. I read the reviews that mention pretty much anything is better than the pizza so with that in mind I will have to go back. However, it was Valentine’s Day so nick and I had to order pizza. We ordered a small pizza with one topping, a side salad, and an appetizer of fries. The pizza was just okay. The size was plenty big for Nick and I to share(6 pieces come in the small), but the crust wasn’t my style — not quite thick or thin — and the sauce was a bit too heavy for the way I like my pizza served. The fries, however, were quite delightful. They tasted like they were fresh cut and were the highlight of the meal. Based on that I would definitely be willing to come back and try some other menu items. For pizza though I’d stick to my other favorites.
