My mom, brother and I stayed in Denton for a few days while we spent Christmas with relatives on her side of the family. We stopped here for dinner one night, since it was nearby and it was open. Many places had closed early for the holidays, and my mom is a HUGE fan of the Applebee’s in Conroe, so I thought we’d give it a shot. I haven’t been to the Conroe location, but this one is kinda lousy. The food here was just okay, nothing to write home about. My brother is autistic and doesn’t communicate much verbally, but everyone in our family knows he is ALL about his food. In fact, my brother is our litmus test when it comes to food – if he won’t eat it, it HAS to be AWFUL! And my brother didn’t even eat his food! *side eye* I ordered the ribs with the smoky chipotle sauce, and my mom had the baby back ribs, same sauce. I don’t know what they put on my ribs, but it wasn’t any chipotle sauce I’ve ever had. It was sweet and kind of gross. I’m all about the savory, tangy bbq sauces, and this was definitely NOT it. My brother had the grilled lime chicken, and it seemed dry. Our appetizers were decent, but we kept it simple and shared the spinach and artichoke dip and some boneless buffalo wings. We all had the blackberry tea, and as much as I love it, the tea tasted weak and watery here, like a bunch of ice had melted in it or something. At least our server was nice, which bumps them up to three stars instead of two. This place reminded me why I haven’t been to an Applebee’s in years. Next time, I’ll stick with Chili’s.

Christmas night at Applebee’s. These people are busting their humps. Fast service with a limited menu for the holiday(smart) Curteous servers and host staff. The place was kind of dirty but I have to give them a break with so many people in here. Food was hot and good.

My Aunt sent my mother and I $ 115 dollars worth of gift cards, so we decided to that we must give Applebee’s of Denton a try while returning from our monthly doctor’s visits. I got the address for this restaurant from Unilocal prior to going there so that I might know where it was and was shocked to see that it had only a 3.5 star rating and not that many reviews in total. We went anyways because of the gift cards. We were not disappointed. The the service was excellent. Our host was great, jovial and smiling. Our server Haylie W was attentive, smiling and in a constant good state of mind. My mother ordered the cesar salad and I had the house salad with bleu cheese with bleu cheese crumbles, we also had a side order of spiced house-made pickles. To our amazement the salads were amazing and delicious, thought we were going to bring some of it home as they were so big but LOL, no that didn’t happen, we practically licked those plates clean!!! For the main course, I went with the ribeye steak, mashed potatoes and steamed mixed vegetables. The steak was cooked to perfection and salted just right, it did not need steak sauce at all. I did try it with a dab of both Heinz 57 and A1 to verify the quality of the steak flavors and both of the sauces easily overpowered the delicately delicious steak. Mother had the lemon grilled chicken over a bed of rice that had pecan slivers and cranberries in it. While she did manage to take some of that home, I again did not. For beverages we had their coffee and I can’t say enough good things about that either. For a «sports bar», this Applebee’s is a far better regular restaurant than what one would easily assume. Above all make sure you communicate with your waitstaff about how you like your food prepared. Mother forgot to mention she didn’t like lemon on her grilled chicken and did not remember that until the food arrived and she tasted it. Rather than complain as another patron did about how her steak was prepared, despite that being the recipe, mother did not and enjoyed the lemon chicken anyways. We communicated through our waitress about the spiced house-made pickles to the chef, whom, I don’t doubt would’ve talked with us directly had we requested it. The pickles are made from fresh sliced cucumbers and various seasonings and put into a special brine and then refrigerated for 24 hours before serving. We make our own bread ‘n butter pickles much the same way, but Wow, we really liked the spice mixture of their brine on their pickles!

Our orders went to the wrong table twice and the Mac and cheese was the greasiest thing I have ever seen on a plate. The cheese sticks were pretty good, but I don’t think we’ll be back.

I’m taking away a star from Applebee’s in Denton. And I’m going to tell you why whether you want me to or not. It’s not the worst place you can eat in Denton or anything. Certainly not worth a 1 star review, but also not deserving of the 3 stars I previously awarded them. I’m not angry about our last visit so much as I’m gobsmacked that I just never know what I’m going to get when I walk through their vestibule and ask to be seated. I’m usually a fan of Applebee’s. I like their food, I like their atmosphere, I like that I can generally get seated in a reasonable amount of time even if I go in at 7 pm on a Friday because they can accommodate quite a few guests. The one near my home in Fort Worth has been great since the 90’s with consistent quality since it was built. But the one in Denton fluctuates. One visit you may get amazing service and the next, who knows? Maybe you’ll get silverware or maybe you won’t. Maybe they’ll remember to bring your drinks or maybe they won’t. It’s mind boggling. On our latest visit to the Denton location we were seated quickly but were given no silverware. A nice young man came and took our drink order and our appetizer order. We got the apps before our drinks had come with no saucers to share the app and since we had no silverware there wasn’t even a napkin. Thankfully the young man from before noticed and brought some napkins at least. Then we order and I’ve really enjoyed their new«Handhelds» they put on the menu earlier this year so I got one of those. The Kickin’ Turkey Stacker. Which is delicious when I order it at my Fort Worth location. But in Denton they bring me a soggy mess. This sandwich comes with coleslaw on grilled potato bread and a sriracha and lime sauce and it works very well together. Unless you let it sit too long and then the mayonnaise from the slaw gets the bread all mushy and that’s what they served me. The bottom piece of bread was about to disintegrate. All this having been said, I like Applebee’s enough to not hate this place or even swear off of this particular location. We’ll most likely stick to the Fort Worth location for a while though. Because as I’ve said, you just never know what to expect when coming here. Adjust your expectations if you are in Denton and in the mood for Applebee’s! :)

Not the best Applebee’s around. The service was pretty slow and the waiter kept getting my order wrong.

So… last trip the waitress could not do the bill right. First she billed us for two kids meals even though they should have been free. Pointed out the error. Then she brought a new bill. She had only deleted one of the kid meals. Huh? She never came back near the table. I gave up waiting cause the kids were out in the car stressing the spouse out. I tried to call later to let the manager know… seriously, how many other bills did she screw up… but after 8 minutes on hold, I gave up there too. At some point I’ll call corporate, as it felt a little scammy.

Waited approximately 15 minutes for our drink orders. Took an additional 10 minutes for us to place three very simple meal orders. Had to get our own silverware and after waiting 10 – 15 minutes for drink refills, the hostess was the one who got our refills. Sad thing is, we weren’t the only small table having the same problems. Food is typical Applebee’s fair. Not bad, not great but decent.

Kudos to Applebee’s for opening the doors early this morning and hosting a fund raiser for our baseball team. The boys learned a little bit about the restaurant business and will now get to play in a couple of extra tournaments because of this. Thanks for supporting the youth of the community! We eat here quite a bit anyway but I will definitely be back to say thanks.

I can’t even comment on the food, because we gave up after an hour of waiting for two kids meals and two appetizers. Told the waiter I wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. The manager, who stood five feet from us to adjust the order, never came to the table. My wife’s first wine glass had been washed, but not dried. There were droplets all over the glass and a teaspoon of water or so sloshing around the bottom. I had to get a dry one from the bar and even that one needed some cleaning before wet could use it. The place either needs a staff reboot or a wrecking ball.

My review is about 1 year late, but the fact that I’m taking time to write it up, and the rating I am giving, should tell you a lot. My family and I stopped there after services one Sunday. We were hungry as all get out, so ready for some food. We were seated right away, and then our drinks were served and order taken. That is the only good part. For the next 30 – 35 minutes we waited for our food. Finally, I pulled the waiter over and told them how long we were waiting for our food. A few minutes later, our food showed up. My mother in law took one bite and said it was stone cold. My kids broccoli was cold as ice and even they complained about it. I contacted the manager, he said, «can you give me 10 minutes to make this right? By the way you bill is on us.» I accepted. Waited 15 minutes, no food. We left without paying. Service is terrible. Food is overpriced for what you get. To this day, when my kids see Applebees, they say, «worst food ever.» That should tell you something.

This is THE place to be if you love really bad service. Literally had to wave my arms to track a waiter down. 75% full on a Friday night you’d think they’d have it down a little tighter. My advice is keep driving.

Decent food. Watch the new confangled jukebox they have on the wall though. They got it put in a few months ago. It is advanced — like Cylon technology advanced. If you see someone approach it to put a tune on — throw something at them. DONOT allow them to start a song. It is so loud it will vibrate your seat! I asked them to turn it down and the technology was so advanced it actually got louder; compensating for human interference. I ordered a steak and watched the sound waves vibrate it from medium rare to well done!

Worst Applebee’s experience I’ve ever had. Place was so incredibly loud, women’s restroom smelled horrible, and those were my first impressions. Watched waitstaff«clean» a table by wiping all the food and ice directly on the floor, then walk by again and kick ONE ice cube under another table, then seat a group while holding the dirty washrag and their silverware with the same hand. We stopped here on our way back home from a trip– I wish we had just kept driving.

Bartender didn’t give a crap about making my drink. I waited 20 minutes while I watched him flirt with girls, shoot the sh*t with his manager, and wipe the same glass over and over. When I complained to the manager on our way out(we left after 20 minutes), it was apparent to me that he didn’t care or have any intention of rectifying the problem. Never going back, not interested in feeling like I’m completely invisible, or being smirked at by the«manager» when I make a legitimate complaint.

I like Applebee’s but I don’t care for this location. When you first enter, you are overwhelmed by the smell of cigarettes. I can not stand the smell of cigarettes and while I try to ignore it, it’s still very strong. Our server took over 20 minutes to take our order and the restaurant wasn’t even busy. When I asked about the hold up, she said she didn’t know we were ready… EXCUSEME!!! Even if you«THOUGHT» we weren’t ready, you are not supposed to wait 20 minutes to check on waiting customers. My order was cold. When I told her about it, she stuck her finger in it and said, «I don’t know how because they just cooked it.» I had her send it back which she was unhappy about. The next order came out but she brought out a totally different order. I let her know that wasn’t what I ordered and her response was, «Give me a break!» I was so frustrated. I decided to just leave. The party that I was with begged me to stay, but I was so over it. The server had the nerve to tell me that I couldn’t leave until I payed for my order. She said that I had to pay for one of those dishes because she wouldn’t take both of them off… Needless to say, I won’t be back to this location again!

The food was good, however the bar was not. Had the 2 for $ 20 deal, the appetizer came out hot and fresh. Obviously cooked when ordered. The entrees were well done as well. The only down side was the hamburger was brought out with no dressings offered or brought. The bar is a fail, at least for the non-beer drinker last night. The«Long Island Iced Tea» was anything but. No color at all, and it tasted more like a Vodka collins than a LI-IT. The 2nd round was returned due to «floaties» in the drink, after the wait staff chased down the manager who was too busy to come check it. It was replaced, and the replacement was still far off the mark. The wait staff was friendly, and did a good job keeping track of us during our visit. The prices were good and the bar-tab was not a killer. Surprising about that. It’s a chain.

The people were friendly and the service was good, but there was a strange, sour, mold-ish odor throughout the building and even the parking lot. We left and went somewhere else because of it.
