Yes, it was good. We had the octopus with Chickpea Purée, Sauce Chermoula, Piquillo Pepper & Pickled Red Onion. Octopus was cooked perfectly, pickle onions added a tangy note to the curry. Joined by the Pork Belly Creamy Corn Grits, Charred Gem Lettuce, Buttermilk Tarragon & Cherries — this was a surprise — the charred greens were delicious — perfect bitter balance of sweetness of pork and cherries. The curry did not overpower the octopus and the dishes were perfect shareable between two people for a starter. Both dishes were balanced and unique. I had the Local Halibut Saffron Beurre Blanc, Snap Peas, Cucumber, Bacon Lardons & Pistachio Herb Salsa. It was a large serve of fish and plentiful vegetables — all of it very fresh. The other half had the special of the night — lamb meatballs — he said it was good, but either might have already been full from starters or it there might not have been much opinion to elaborate.

This place is awesome. It has a lot of both indoor and outdoor seating. Service is excellent and the ambience is relaxed yet trendy. We sat at a table inside because the outside was full. My dish was the rabbit Cavatelli. The rabbit meat was good, but slightly stringy. However the pasta portion was amazing. I definitely recommend this dish. I also got a chance to try my friend’s dishes. The trout was very well done. It was fried but lightly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The chicken and beet salad is good but nothing too unique. I’d try some of their cooler dishes on their menu.

I’ve been wanting to eat here forever, and finally my fiancé and I came for our date night and sat at the bar. The inside of the restaurant was really cool. The service was a little bit Meh. The head bartender was really good, funny and attentive, but the other two were either a little stuck up or inattentive completely. One guy I asked for a drink recommendation and he couldn’t give me one, like he was too cool to talk to me? Weird. The drinks were delicious, all hand crafted, no «mixes». You have to get a Kentucky Spring. For dinner we had a cutting board and wings, both fine, nothing to write home about, but we are going to have to go again and try the rest of the menu. The bacon wrapped paté on the board was really good. For dessert we had the brownie with Carmel, pecans and vanilla Gelato. It was really good. You cannot go wrong.

We had just taken our dog to the Del Mar dog beach, so we needed to find a place that had outdoor, dog friendly patio seating. When we first went up(thinking it was BeeSalt– the restaurant above), they told us there would be a 20 – 25 minute wait. We were starving so we walked down the street looking for other restaurants. Seeing very few restaurants the next 2 blocks down we became discouraged, we PrepKitchen’s number and asked how long their patio waiting would be, they told us 5 minutes. When followed the directions back up, we discovered it to be the same restaurant we had just talked to. Turned out it was a minimal wait, and they sat us right then. Anyways, we went here for brunch on a Sunday. We started off with sangria and a mimosa. Both were tasty. I would definitely recommend there pineapple jalapeño mimosa. It was a nice mix of sweet and savory. Our waiter recommended the chilaquiles– Both of us wanted to order it! When going out to eat, its our unwritten rule that we have to order different things so we can try each others. So I won(:P) and order the chilaquiles, and he ordered the cinnamon sugar french toast. Both were delicious. The chilaquiles were a little spicy, but a good amount. His french toast was really tasty as well. Similar to my beverage, being able to sample both of our meals, it was a good mix sweet and savory. The patio did fill up quickly and continually had a wait, so I’d recommend getting there early!

We were looking for good quality food and good service that wasn’t overpriced; we found it! Nice indoor or patio seating. Server Rich was spot on with recommendations. We split the beet salad which was served tossed with spinach, almonds, orange, and goat cheese. Entrees were the bolognese pasta, and the roasted pork chop with potatoes, olives, and asparagus– YUM! For dessert, we split the strawberry sundae which wasn’t just an ordinary sundae. It had fresh strawberries, strawberry ice cream covered with a hard chocolate dome, chocolate chip meringues, and more– delicious! Reservations recommended

so this is one of my go-to gaunts for a while now. i’d like to tell you about my birhtday breakfast. hayden served us, knew it was my birthday, and brought out delish ricotta donut holes. thank you thank you! you guys read my little note about it being my birthday, and that was much appreciated. i usually will choose PK for my birthday brunch with friends and family. food was great. i had the kale salad with chicken, they forgot the dressing. one kiddo got chilaquiles, and the other got a side of 2 eggs and bacon. that’s where the problem lies. the server did not suggest the egg breakfast to order instead, and instead decided to order a egg side($ 6.50 for TWO!!!), and a side of bacon($ 6.00 for a side of 4 pieces.) needless to say, a rip off, and i even brought it up that how can one get 2 small sunny side eggs for $ 6.50? he didn’t seem bothered as i was, and hence i chalked up the free ricotta balls as my gift to get over it. a little upset. not sure how i feel about this!

Came for happy hour(scheduled 3−6pm) around 5:30pm. They no longer had the tapas menu but did have select wine and beers for $ 5.55. Ordered the burrata served with pesto, prosciutto, asparagus, and ciabatta bread. Simple yet delicious! For entrees, we split the fusilli bolognese and seared yellowtail. The pasta was cooked perfectly a la dente and a solid take on a classic dish. The yellowtail was amazing, a great combination of favors– creamy cauliflower purée, salty roasted cauliflower, and tangy pomegranate. Definitely my favorite dish of the night! Not the best happy hour but great food with food service! Parking in the area can be difficult. Restaurant does not have their own lot.

My friend and I came here for brunch since I was visiting from out of town. We were seated immediately upon arrival for a party of two. I did hear that they had reservations for the patio seating so we were seated inside instead(which was fine by me). The menu was pretty extensive and had a lot of items for both brunch and lunch. I ordered the Applewood smoked Bacon Scramble while my friend ordered the Local Fish Tacos. I also got the Cranberry and Winter Spice Mimosa because it sounded interesting(haha). The food came out at a reasonable time. Both dishes were of a decent size. My scramble also included toast and house potatoes while my friend’s tacos included a side salad. The scramble, in my opinion, was just decent. It wasn’t too special. But the house potatoes were literally the best potatoes I’ve ever had for a brunch. It was probably deep fried and the skin was so crispy. The potatoes were seasoned really well. I just wish there were more potatoes. So, my friend and I kind of shared our dishes so I got the chance to try the tacos. It was pretty good and cooked very well. The fish was still juicy and flavorful. I wish there weren’t too much sauce on it though because it kind of overpowered the fish a little bit. Overall, I had a good meal and I would come back again if I have the chance. It’s a decent place for brunch and it’s not too crowded.

I’ve been here before but never like the time on Monday night. I came here for my friends birthday dinner and when we sat, we were greeted with water with a hint of lime and over all awesome staff with smiles. We placed our order for appetizers and they were placed staggered through the table. The bacon wrapped dates are delicious! A must get if you are in a big group or just a table for two. *Hint, Hint* I ordered the Whole Chicken Fried Trout! This is the best fish I’ve ever had! The coleslaw on top was perfect and didn’t over power the flavor of the fish! And the best thing was that the trout had NOBONES! It was PREFECT!!! I’m always blown away by the service here and can’t wait to come back again.

Drumroll please… this is my 1000th review!!! Hurray! And I am pleased to tell you that it is for Prepkitchen, and not some one star unhappy experience. Or maybe I just put off a few reviews just so my 1000th review would be this one. Does it matter? No it doesn’t! All that matters is you get to bathe in my 1000th review glow. Get to the point please, you say? No problem. As a surprise dinner for Valentine’s Day(day was actually Tuesday before but it’s our V day dinner), my hubby brought me here after scouring Unilocal like a crazy person. It’s true, how do you treat your wife who happens to be Elite and has now written 1000 reviews? Poor guy. His brain must be hurting. But he pulled through! I’ve been dying to come here but never mentioned because truly we never go to places like this unless it’s an anniversary or something. I love this place because it’s exactly the opposite of high end. This is supposed to be your home. Very casual, small seating outside, even smaller inside. We chose to sit inside because I saw some folks sitting with their dogs and wanted to leave those outside tables for any more people with dogs. Inside feels like your cozy library with books and knickknacks all over. Service was impeccable without being ostentatious. Like I said. You’re at home. Your friend just came over to serve you dinner for fun. Since everything is fresh here, the menu is very limited. We don’t eat pork, so we weren’t left with much choices. But our meal couldn’t have been better. We started with the charred octopus. Yes octopus. Yes it was amazing. It was not chewy at all like most octopus usually are when cooked. Then came out some butter and sourdough. Yum had to ask for another plate. Oh we had wine too. I had a French Rosé because I’m a wine snob that likes French wine. And my hubby had a Riesling which was still excellent but mine was better. Actually it was quite funny, everything we ordered was exactly perfect for us. What my hubby got was just as he likes. I ordered the local mussels and fries. Hubby ordered the yellowtail. The broth those mussels were in was so good, hubby suggested I dump the rest of my fries in there and soak up all that goodness. Two other tables saw me having my food orgasm because of it, they ordered the mussels too! We were told that the mussels are so fresh, they get them at 5AM everyday. From Baja. During the summer months they get bigger and fatter because of all the plankton. I’ll be sure to come back again to have the fat mussels. For dessert we had the coconut cake with a glass of dessert wine which sadly I don’t remember the name of Sateurnes, I think. Also French. It was very light and delicate. I asked for more whipped cream because that was divine. And real. Real whipped cream. All in all, a pleasant evening. Even the bathroom is super cool, the trough sink is outside for anyone to use. I hope to come back again, especially if there is an Elite event which always happens here. Even if there is no event, I’ll come back!

I’ve been wanting to go to Prepkitchen for a little while now! Well I got to go on my birthday. It was yummy. For an appetizer we got the bacon wrapped dates. They had blue cheese in them. My mom got the roasted beet ravioli and my dad got the Mary’s chicken but he didn’t share his chicken! I shared a bite of my pork chop with him. I shared my toffee pudding with him. I shared my hikkado cake with him and it was delicious. We also got the toffee pudding. It was really hard deciding which dessert to get. Then Scott our waiter said you don’t have to choose, one of the desserts is on me. I can’t wait to try other restaurants in this restaurant group. I’d love to try Catania.

My friend knew Manny the chef here and he was stellar. Came out to talk to us, really made us feel at home, very nice, personable, funny — the kind of guy you would want to hang out with. We were starving and tried the majority of the menu — here are the reviews 1) octopus — I love love love octopus and this was so very tasty and well cooked. Highly recommend. 2) trout — so well marinated and cooked, really melted in your mouth and had pomegranate seeds on it which was a beautiful(and delicious) touch! 3) beef bolognese — don’t eat beef but my two friends that do said it was very creamy, hearty, and flavorful. They cleaned the plate. 4) mussels/fries — very good sauce for the mussels and super tasty. The fries were decadent too — thin, crispy, and a LOT of them 5) chicken fried fish — never heard of this before but very happy I got it. Comes with a lot of stuff on top of it(veggies) and definitely a lot of food. The fish was lightly battered and fried, really helped make the taste come together. 6) charcuterie board: would definitely recommend as an app — cheese/fruit/crackers/meat/jam/spicy red sauce or hummus. Great to eat while waiting for food 7) dessert– brownie with espresso ice cream on top — loved it!!! I want some now. Ambience — the outdoor patio has lots of space and was bumping. The indoor seating is smaller but very cozy. Nice restaurant where everyone treats you very well. Drinks — we got a pitcher of sangria, wasn’t memorable, maybe we should’ve gotten wine in retrospect. Overall AMAZING, highly recommend!!!

We came here for dinner during restaurant week and it was amazing. Thank goodness we made reservations because walk-ins were given a 2hr wait. The service was great and the food even better. For starters we had the artisan cheese board and the yellowtail. Entrees included the bolognese and the chicken fried trout. Dessert was the sticky toffee pudding. All was worth it. I would definitely come back and eat here again.

Gem! &&&& there’s a parking garage behind the restaurant so you don’t have to worry about stressing to find street parking ! Great little patio out front(make reservations even for lunch during the week if you want to sit outside) This place has no alcohol — only wine & beer which is kinda a bummer. Starters– get the mussels ! Great broth with fries so that’s always a winner Meal– WNL burger. Caramelized onions with a fried egg– yummmm! Fish tacos– amazing slaw paired with a salad. Awesome spot, love that there’s a couple locations throughout sd but the del mar spot is great!

It’s been a while since I have been to the Little Italy location but I finally got a chance to try this location. The ambiance is cozy and candle light romantic. Granted the winters in San Diego aren’t exactly harsh by any means there were a lot of heaters on the patio to the point where it was very comfortable. Good thing too, since there is hardly any space inside. The service was polite and attentive. Fair warning though, they will add a 20% gratuity for restaurant week automatically for any sized group… I don’t agree with that, but it service was nice enough to warrant that amount I suppose. I tried the bacon wrapped dates, the braised beef and the budino. Now that I think of it, a pretty standard meal out nowadays, cuz when it comes down to it… bacon, beef and potatoes, chocolate cake right? Of the three the dates stood out, the bacon was my preferred balance between crispy and not burnt. dates and the cheese inside paired well as well. Tried and true combo executed well. The braised beef was decent but not fantastic. Mashed potatoes were creamy and not starchy but the beef was a little inconsistent. Some pieces were juicy, while others were a little stringy. Not that a big deal but it was noticeable. Finally, the Budino finished it all on a just sweet enough note. Espresso ice cream, cream with chocolate dippin dot specs over a chocolate lava cake all served in a adorable mason jar. Nice Finish.

Fantastic!!! Love the atmosphere of this restaurant. We arrived well before our reservation, but we’re awaiting the arrival of a 4th who would be late. We thought we’d «kick it» at the bar until. Um, there’s no bar! Ouch. Luckily the friendly staff solved our«problem» by prepping a table early for us… our bar. Aside from the beer & wine, we then tapped into the apps. We ordered their version of a charcuterie platter & a shrimp dish. Both were lovely. The meat & cheese plate had quite the array, easily shared amongst a table of 4. It had the perfect combination of meats, pâté, cheese, nuts & raisins. I highly recommend this. We then dipped into the entrees and 1 had the steak, the others had the Pan Seared Yellowtail. Cooked perfectly, nice and tender, light, yet filling. We all left pleasantly satisfied. I don’t think I mentioned the staff who are are very friendly and attentive. We will spread the word & return.

A group of friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday, and it exceeded expectations. Even though we showed up early for our reservation, they already had our table ready and we didn’t have to wait. We were seated outside(and who doesn’t love people-watching in Del Mar?) but with the heat lamps it was no issue. The waitress was very friendly and very knowledgable about the menu. We ordered a number of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Feeling a little under the weather, I stuck to the French onion soup. Classic and simple, but incredibly flavorful. Finding parking in Del Mar isn’t always the easiest thing, but that was completely overridden by the great service and delicious food. Plus, they weren’t in a hurry to kick us out even though we out-stayed all the other customers. The menu is definitely unique and anyone who considers his/herself a foodie should feel morally obligated to give Prepkitchen a try. Come hungry, because the portions are not for the faint of heart/compulsive dieters.

We met some family members here for a brunch one Sunday and fell in love with the little enclave this restaurant is located in. However, upon arrival, we received a text saying the other half would be late about 15 minutes. We checked in anyway, afraid that the restaurant would be displeased that a table for 12 would be taken up for longer than it should. We were relieved that they were very accommodating and basically told us no problemo. Our table was on their patio which was lovely except for the areas that got direct sunlight. And when the breeze would kick up, tiny debris from the trees above showered us, getting into our drinks and food. So… take that into consideration. Our server was very attentive even when it appeared that he was handling a few other tables in addition to our table of 12. The food turned out to be pretty delicious! Hubby and I each ordered a dish(1 sweet, 1 savory) and a side of bacon. The sweet dish was the lemon lavender french toast — not typically a fan of lavender but this was yummy with just a hint of lavender. Best part was it wasn’t cloyingly sweet like a lot of sweet breakfast served elsewhere. For the savory, we(I) ordered the chilaquiles with chipotle braised chicken. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the chicken on my chilaquiles but it also turned out fantastic.(I think hubby lost out a little when we split this dish up haha.) Our humble side of bacon was perfectly cooked and everyone ended up loving it(who doesn’t love bacon?!). A couple of the kids got the burgers(which were pretty pricey, imho) but when I had a couple bites, I thought they were pretty decent. Patty was ever-so-slightly overseasoned and the texture was too much like a meatloaf but overall, the burger was impressive. I did indulge in one brunch beverage, cucumber honey mimosa. It was… alright? It got warm pretty fast in the sunlight and ended up with some of the aforementioned tree debris in it. Oh well! Nice restaurant, great neighborhood joint… great that dogs are allowed on the patio.

Had a fantastic lunch here with my Rep. I actually even ordered a burger which consisted of killer, soft and buttered bread, relish, lettuce, bacon which I removed, cheese and a large round of beef topped with a perfectly cooked sunny side egg. YUM. It was so flavorful and amazing. I did only eat a quarter at a time because I just ate their best beet salad before that. I only had room for a few bites which was perfect because with all that butter, it was a bit rich. My friend had the Bolognese which she loved and I tasted. That was rich and and very creamy. A heavy lunch choice to say the least. Our server was on top of us and so sweet. She helped us figure out our wine and cocktail choices and was there if we needed anything. There was only a couple people dining because we ate a an off time. But never the less, she was great. She brought out the pumpkin bread pudding I think it was. Topped with a spiced ice cream that perfectly balanced the sweet of the pudding. A bite was perfect. Such a fresh menu and a great patio, location and place to visit.

I also tried both the cucumber honey and pineapple jalapeño mimosas — highly recommend the latter, I had two of those bad boys! Also had a bite of the buttermilk chicken sandwich and the fries with mussels. All. So. Good. Can’t wait to come back!

This restaurant is located on the corner of a busy street(Camino Del Mar and 12th). They don’t have their own parking lot, so you’ll need to look for street parking around the area or get lucky finding a spot in the small parking garage around the corner. They have indoor and patio seating. Ambience was very chill. The entire staff was extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful. This is a bit of a late post, but we came here to try out their SDRW lunch menu. For the two of us, we were able to choose one appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert for $ 20 per person. The servings were very generous and ended up being too much for the two of us. APPETIZER — We started off with the Bacon Wrapped Dates which were OK. We each had four, so there was plenty. The dates were sweet, the filling was very rich, and the saltiness of the bacon helped to bring it all together. We actually would have been good with two each as we kind of got tired of the taste due to the strong blue cheese flavor. But, if you love blue cheese, you’ll love these! ENTREES — The Tuna Melt was also just OK. A simple tuna melt can be great. This one had too much mixed in which made it not taste like a tuna melt. The bread was a bit too crunchy for our liking. The Banh Mi was our favorite of the entrees. The bread was soft and made it easy to eat. Both entrees came with a side of chips, which were good, although some were still covered in oil and were a bit soggy. DESSERT — We shared three scoops of gelato(vanilla, chocolate, and salted caramel). Salted Caramel was our favorite. At this point, we were already very full, so we couldn’t bring ourselves to try any of the other dessert options. The gelato was very good, creamy, and refreshing. A great way to end the meal. Overall, our ratings of the staff, service, and presentation/portions of food were a 5. The actual food that we ordered was a 3. For the items we tried, we felt like they tried too hard to make them unique. But, we say, go ahead and give them a try!

Every Prepkitchen I’ve been to has never disappointed us. We usually head to the Little Italy location for brunch, however we decided to try out the dinner menu in Del Mar and it was equally as fantastic. It was a ladies dinner so we love trying everything. First off, our server Clarrissa was phenomenal and was so accommodating. Especially since I was/am 9 months pregnant with 2 weeks to go, she was super nice about refilling our bread since I was scarfing it down like it was going out of style. That didn’t stop us from ordering a ton of dishes. We did our own tapas style with the 4 ladies and PK were super accommodating. First we started with the Harissa Shrimp. I’m pretty there was crack in it because we couldn’t stop eating, especially the sauce(soaking the sauce with bread until the plate was clean). Then we did the warm white bean salad, definitely one of the better versions I’ve had in a while. Next were the bacon wrapped dates stuffed with blue cheese. I love blue cheese and of course bacon and this did not disappoint. They were generous with this portion too. Next was the pork belly, also very delicious but compared to the other dishes I would have taken seconds. We could have stopped there but I wanted more(my excuse, I’m eating for two). Lastly, we ordered the fusilli bolognese, it was delish, at this point we were stuffed and pleasantly happy. All of the dishes we ordered were perfect to share if you want to try a little bit of everything. Clarissa being super amazing along with the chef staff treated us with something sweet in celebration of my expecting. They made the evening super phenomenal without us even asking. Definitely one of those places that I always want to go back to. Notes: they have a nice hh with $ 5 wines and beers from 3pm-6pm but make sure to check out their website — the bathroom doors slide and there are two of them. It took us a while to figure them out so hopefully this will be an insider trick for ya.

Easily my favorite place to go in Del Mar. We visited again with my son and his wife, and I can’t say enough about the food and service. The ricotta donut holes are so so good and ask for a side of the dulche de leche to go with them! Ahhhhhh… now I am drooling sitting here thinking about them. Must have ricotta donut holes. I had the huevos rancheros(Wait…didn’t I have that last time? Yes!!) and it was as good as I remembered. Mmmmmm My son asked for the bolognese and they were nice enough to make it for him since they usually only offer it later in the day. Now, that’s customer service! Speaking of service, I have to say that the server’s here are super cool, attentive and just all around nice. It is a pleasure to go somewhere when the server is truly trying their best to make your experience a good one. I can’t wait to go back!!!

I discovered this gem after the opening day at the Del Mar Races and commend the prompt service from the staff and the outside patio seating. I found it cool they had a variety of menus depending on what time of day it was — ones for specials, happy hour specials, lunch, brunch etc I was not too excited about the lunch menu with the limited amount of choices but to my surprise was blown away with how good the cheese board and charred peaches tasted. The cheese board offers a really good selection of cheeses and additional pairing my server explained would create unique flavors. The charred peaches I found were pretty tough to cut and hard for my liking(I thought they would be softer) but overall still tasty.

I feel as though the only problem here is that with the price tag they choose, the food struggles to measure up. It essentially creates expectations that cannot be met. At face value, my tuna melt sandwich was delicious. Warm, flavorful, made with crispy toasted bread and a side of fresh house made potato chips. If this had cost $ 8, even $ 10, instead of $ 13, this would’ve been a 5 star meal. It just seems excessive to charge that much for a glorified tuna sandwich. A Caesar salad will cost you about $ 12.75(and $ 16.75 if you want chicken… I mean, how many chicken Caesar salads out there are worth $ 17?), and a burger is $ 14.25. There are too many other amazing, cheaper sandwich, salad, and burger places to spend so much here. That being said, the outdoor seating area is lovely and the service was great. Our waiter was attentive and personable, and seemed really genuine.(We also overheard him dealing with a dissatisfied customer, and I was impressed with his manner of interacting with them). It was a great experience, and I would recommend if you’re looking for a nicer, light sit-down lunch.

I enjoy coming to Prep Kitchen Del Mar. By far the best location for all Prep Kitchens. I have nothing but good things to say. Always a great experience from being greeted by the hostess to when we walk out. I’ve been here numerous times and nothing has ever disappointed me. Service is always great. Food: I’ve tried a lot of dishes but these are my latest dishes I’ve had: Burrata with green garlic pesto, prosciutto, asparagus, calabrian chili vine, basil & ciabatta(BESTDISH) Hangar Steak and Fusili Bolognese for our entrées. All the dishes were delicious and very flavorful. Whenever anyone asks me to recommend a restaurant, Prep Kitchen is definitely one I would let everyone know about.

I enjoyed a great weekday dinner at Prepkitchen with a friend who was in town from the east coast. Food was fresh and enjoyable, drinks were made well, and service was fantastic. We started off with mimosas. I normally avoid mimosas these days because high sugar + cheap sparking wine = instant hangover. The ones at Prepkitchen sounded too good to resist though! I tried both the cucumber honey and white peach & lime. They were light, refreshing, and delicate with the sugar. No hangover FTW! For an app, we split the Applewood Smoked Burrata. You can’t go wrong with burrata. Hello yummy pillow in my tummy. The smoked flavor was new to me and lent an interesting layer of complexity on top of the already amazing toasted hazelnut, watercress, and golden raisin reduction. This tasted pretty darn good spread over the toast. We killed the toast quickly and our awesome waiter immediately brought us bread for the remaining burrata. I had the Charred Octopus and my friend had the Warm White Bean & Arugula Salad with Shrimp for our mains. The Octopus was good, but not great — I did like the parsley chickpea purée. I tried the salad and it was pretty good as well. Dessert was a decadent Butterscotch Pudding topped with caramel and popcorn, with oatmeal cookies on the side. The oatmeal cookies were the only disappointing part of the meal. They were dry and needed more salt to bring out the flavor. Other notes: –Kudos to the staff for being super sweet when my friend accidentally knocked over her glass while peeling shrimp tails. They gave her another mimosa on the house. That made up for the snide diner next to us who remarked«That’s what happens when you drink.» Uh, take a chill pill please. –I found ample parking in the small garage behind Prepkitchen on a Wednesday night. All spots, even the ones that say reserved are okay to park in after 5 pm on weekdays. –Happy hour features $ 5 craft cocktails, wine, and beer from 3 – 6 pm. -$ 39 Prix fixe dinner offered before 6:30 pm. You can pick any app + entrée + dessert.

Being the on again. off again DUTCHESSOFPREPKITCHEN… i am due for an updated review. While my local neighborhood is bustling with new and fabulous restaurants coming in(and out) …I always can rely on PK Del Mar to be a reliable and quality place to eat and relax. Anytime i have out of town guests or a lunch date, I don’t hesitate to suggest coming here. In the past year I have had numerous meals and Happy hours here. If you were to ask me what my favorite items are here… that is not an easy answer because you really can’t go wrong… it comes down to «what are you in the mood for?» my current favorite salad is the beet salad. favorite app is the cutting board, the patas bravas and the dates my kids favorite breakfast item are the donuts(I would have to agree with them) favorite dinner item is the braised beef… the chicken… the bolognese. favorite dessert… the BUDINO! favorite lunch…½ sandwich with soup, salad and chips… the best meal ever! This place will be around for our grandkids to see… my kids will be telling their kids about how they have been coming here since they were babies… i seriously believe this. eat here, drink here… but please don’t sit in my favorite table if i’m coming in. *secret menu… they don’t have a printed kids menu. but ask your server… they have a bunch of «kids» items. the grilled cheese is friggin amazing! i always encourage my kids to order that so I can have a few bites(it doesn’t take much convincing… my son who is a burger lover… always orders the grilled cheese here)
