Happy hour at Americana Restsurant in Del Mar is great! You have to order the fish tacos and caprese salad!

Had breakfast here twice during our latest trip to San Diego. The eggs are awesome and the location is great. Parking can be a challenge on the weekends but you can normally find a spot close enough to walk. A must if you are in the area!

Awesome place in prime Del Mar. Great casual vibe in the snooty world. Enjoyed a beach walk and grabbed a burger and beer during happy hour. Excellent value and wonderful service. Good stuff found here!

Excellent service from start to finish. No complaints. Matt was our friendly server. He made my day! My 6 yr old stated they have the best bacon he has ever tasted.

Another great breakfast courtesy of Randy and his team. My favorite spot to relax, read the news, and enjoy the people in Del Mar. Spec your own omelette and indulge!

Nice relaxing atmosphere with the breeze from the ocean. Stopped by to have lunch but ended up putting happy hour dishes together. No regrets. Very well seasoned and prepared calamari, and the best quesadilla so far in San Diego north County. Talk about the cheese melts in your mouth not in your hands. Awesome place. Highly recommended.

Very cute, went there for happy hour, the caprese salad was really good although a bit overdressed. Good happy hour prices, I’d suggest staying with the red wine though, since the martini we got was too salty. Staff was very friendly, always a plus!

First time here. Around 1pm on 1÷23÷16. Hubby got a burger, kids got French toast and pasta. I got soup and salad. All the food was delicious. Problems… I was delivered the wrong soup after quite a long wait. Then it took almost 10 more minutes to get the right soup, very quickly followed by all the other food. My salad was also wrong. A COMPLETELY different salad. Not just a missing or added ingredient. After the correct one was delivered everyone else was pretty much done eating. The waitress tried to take my food telling me she’d get me a box. I told her no, I’d be sitting and eating my lunch. She also offered to top off my Arnold Palmer with iced tea. I said no… 5 mins later she did it anyway. Watered down iced tea no lemonade as a result. No comped anything. No apology of any kind for any of it. Extra sad when the food is so good.

French Toast, Bacon, Eggs, REAL Maple Syrup, Avocado, Fresh-Squeezed Grapefruit Juice… And BOOM! haha, this was a breakfast I literally visualized and then it was delivered by Americana Restaurant. I had been craving some mid-day French Toast and this place delivered big time. Really great vibe, excellent breakfast food. Get the shot of real maple syrup, it’s worth it and delicious.

So, the menu is amazing, the food was good, but they charged us two dollars just to put a few chocolate chips in my kids pancakes… seriously! The big issue was the service, there was a nice older gentleman who showed us to our table where we waited nearly 10 minutes for our drinks that we never got refills on. Our food took over a half hour to get to the table. From what I could gather, the service is good if they think your a local(we are) but we are younger and had kids, so maybe they assumed we were tourists. The people around us from the same server were treated well, promptly served and had refills on their drinks. Moral: I would skip, you can get better food, and be treated well somewhere else.

My husband and I decided to venture out to Del Mar for brunch last weekend. We came across Americana and when I saw the cute outdoor seating and indoor décor, we decided to check it out. Thankfully there wasn’t really a wait, and we were seated right away with a highchair for our toddler. The dining area inside is a little cramped, but because of the restaurant style that is to be expected. The building is also very old and dates back to the 19010’s which is pretty cool. The service was relatively fast, and our waiter was prompt and friendly. I ordered the eggs Benedict which was good, but I had higher expectations. The salad that accompanies the eggs took up over half the plate, and the bread for the eggs was too hard to cut. The bacon, eggs, and the sauce were all good, but nothing too exceptional. And I do wish that the salad dressing hadn’t so easily mixed with the hollandaise sauce. Other than that, I would probably go again because the venue was so cute and it’s centrally located to everything on that street. It’s also a short walk over to Powerhouse Park.

I’ve been here more times than I can remember over the course of the last few years, and it’s typically a pretty great experience. Definitely a god spot to come to on the weekends after walking Torrey Pines State Reserve. Americana is nestled off the main street in downtown Del Mar, and is pretty accessible with lots of street parking around. The wait staff is generally very attentive and personable, moreso than most restaurants I’ve been to. They seem genuinely happy to see you and provide great service with consistency. The food is pretty good, though I’ve only had a few things. The Gorgonzola Bacon Burger is a good sized burger with some good flavor from grilled onions pairing with the gorgonzola cheese. The fries are usually cooked to the perfect crunch without being overdone, and if you want a side salad instead, those are usually pretty light and tasty. I’ve heard Americana has a pretty great breakfast, though I’ve never ordered it since usually I’m drawn to the burger or something on the lunch menu. Would definitely recommend it if you’re in the area. Great outdoor seating with views of the water if you’re on the side of the restaurant. Otherwise, it’s great people watching in the front of the restaurant since the tables are on the other side of the public sidewalk. Very cool place.

Met my friend here for dinner last week. I’ve seen this place a million times but thought they were only open for breakfast and lunch. It was his suggestion to give dinner a try so figured I’d go with the flow. We made reservations since it was restaurant week. I don’t think they participated but it’s always a good idea because you can really get screwed during RW if you don’t plan ahead. I arrived early and giggled because there were only a handful of people dining here. The place was empty on a Thursday night so didn’t appear to be a popular dinner spot. Inside, I hoped it wasn’t a bad sign. It was another warm, humid night in San Diego so we chose to sit outside. The empty restaurant allowed for us to pick whatever seat our hearts desired. For our starter, we got the ahi appetizer which was thinly sliced and had a nice cucumber salad and ginger, soy dipping sauce to go with. I thought it had good flavor and the fish was fresh. Felt it was a great selection. For dinner, I got their cioppino which our waitress said was very good. My buddy got a vegetable stack dish which had a ton of roasted veggies that he seemed to enjoy. My dish on the other hand was a bit of a disappointment. The dish was a one noter and bland. I never add salt to my meals but salt, pepper and crushed red pepper flakes was the only way I could even eat. Even then, it was blah. For $ 20, quite the disappointment. I left a lot of seafood on the plate!;( We ended up ordering dessert and shared the banana split. The ahi appetizer and the banana split were the true winners of the night. I’d give this joint a chance for breakfast or brunch… but sadly, I can’t say their dinners are all that notable. At least the company was great and we gave it a try…

Decent outdoor seating, dog friendly, solid food and an excellent location. Wait staff is only okay, food is pretty standard(not bad, not great) and it is a little spendy for what you get. There are better options nearby but it is a nice enough option in the area and we return maybe once a quarter.

Really cute restaurant with nice heated seating outside. I give three stars due to mediocre service. My friends and I sat outside looking towards the ocean. Very nice setting. I ordered a mimosa and the eggs Benedict with bacon and tomatoes. Very good. My friends liked their breakfasts as well. The service is another story. The young hostess did not greet us or smile. She clearly did not want to be there. We sat at our table for a solid 15 minutes before our server came along asking us what we wanted to drink. Food came another 30ish minutes. Not once did our waitress ask if everything was okay, and then she brought the bill randomly. Overall I have mixed feelings.

I love everything about American Restaurant: the décor, the view, the food, the prices, the service, and the location. They need to open one in Santa Barbara: it’s like a lower-priced cross between Tupelo Junction(which has dinner and happy hour) and Jeannine’s, which is overpriced and overrated except for the downtown location. Jeannine’s has added some menu items in the last year or so, but I haven’t been a regular for years. Most of my Montecito friends gave up on the Coast Village location years ago. For breakfast there are two dozen options including the special waffles and pancakes. Usually I’m not a fan of egg-whites but the mushroom and goat cheese egg-white quesadilla is heavenly. I judge breakfast places by their potatoes and these are exquisite roasted potatoes with just the right amount of rosemary. Brown and crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, they’re what roasted potatoes should always be. We saw several pancake and waffle variations at the next table and all looked great. The happy hour prices – 5 for most appetizers – are as impressive as the variety(duck and corn quesadilla sounds divine!). The artisanal cocktails are a bargain at 9 and my Bloody Mary was great. I love Del Mar and this old standby is a must-try when in the area. I liked L’Auberge but the breakfast/brunch menu is more expensive and the food no better. You’re paying for the view and it’s perfectly pleasant, but I’d choose Americana over L’Auberge and go regularly if local.

We came in to give this place a second chance. Sat down inside in the corner with great view of people & outside. I ordered a unlimited cup of coffee, dad ordered a mimosa. Buttermilk pancakes w\ chicken sausage & apple. They didnt have turkey bacon, but the sausage was sweet and spicy. Mom ordered a denver omelet. There is a bar inside to the left as youcwalk in. Its kind of hidden if your not paying attention. Also they have happy hour menu with wine, draft specials, and even well drinks. I may have to come back to try it out. Looks like select days and times Tues-sat 4 – 630 The buttermilk pancake turned out alright. The first time I had it it was soft and sweet like cake. I think they cooked it too long this time. But I did enjoy the coffee, had about 3 cups. Bob even came over and chatted up my dad. He seems like a kind guy and may hit up this place again if I’m in the area

Perfect dog friendly breakfast spot in Del Mar. Excellent eggs benedict, cinnamon toast and cheese grits. Service was ok, they were super busy! We loved the location and ambiance! Fun, relaxing place.
