Fusian has consistently impressed me. Everyone is always so friendly and helpful. I appreciate that they create the sushi in front of the customer. They are a local, express sushi place that uses fresh, natural ingredients. And they believe in environmental causes such as recycling. Located beside the University of Dayton and major hospitals, this is a great place to dine-in or carry out. I used to order the brown rice sushi, but I realized that the sushi tastes much more comforting with white rice because it’s stickier and holds all the ingredients together. I decided to get adventurous and create a monster roll stuffed with hearty ingredients. I filled my tuna roll with avocado, cream cheese, carrots, and cucumbers. For the toppings, I added spicy mayo, wasabi mayo, sesame seeds, and tempura flakes. Lastly, I ordered a honey green tea to accompany this meal! Fusian also sells delicious miso soup. The carrot ginger salad, however, tastes salty; the dressing overpowers the lettuce and has a bizarre ginger aftertaste. The loose leaf teas taste flavorful and are higher quality than some coffee places! When it comes to affordability, I think that it’s alright. It’s $ 10 for sushi and a hot tea. The best part is not worrying about waiting for the roll. The parking lot is located in the back, so there’s no need to park by the meter. Would I visit again? YES!

I love Fusian. The guys behind this place are Cincinnati locals who are slowly building what I predict to be a big hit nationwide down the road, if they do it right. To be fair, this is not the kind of sushi one would expect from a seasoned sushi master, so if you’re looking for that, this isn’t the place for you. This is the place to get quick, simple and delicious sushi on the go. As others have said, the concept is basically Chipotle for sushi – you order up front and your sushi is made on the line while you watch and select items to fill your roll, so the creative aspect of your sushi is really up to you. As a result, choices for filling are also limited to sushi basics like tempura shrimp, crab stick, and tuna. Veggie options also include standards like avocado, asparagus, green onion and a few unexpected(and seasonal) options such as sweet potato. Choose your toppings and you’re done. Edamame, miso soup, and seaweed salad are also available, as are a few unique drink choices such as ginger lemonade. Staff is friendly. Additionally, Fusian’s Brown Street location composts a good deal of its waste, offering separate trash receptacles are available for recyclables vs. compostables. Big kudos for this touch. This is a great place for sushi newcomers and families – my kids love it. If you like quick sushi, it’s well worth a try.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I live out of state and I’m an constant sushi eater and this place was great. The staff was very friendly and even gave us a free drink since it was our first time in. Gave us good suggestions on what to put in our rolls based on what we like. The atmosphere was very clean and quiet. The only suggestion I have is if it’s someone’s first time, recommend getting just one roll(they’re huge). You can always go back for more if you’re still hungry.

After 2 trips to the ER, a ruined«vacation» and feeling like poop 3 days later, do I recommend this place? Hmm no. Very kindly I ask you not to visit this or other establishments owned by them. Instead do me a big favor: Google sushi training. Done? Good. So you saw it takes 7 years to be a good sushi chef and as the ER doc said the 1st year is just learning to sharpen knives. So what made me and my husband decide to take our little adventurous selves here when there are young Caucasian kids making the sushi? Not to be racist at all bc I’m half white but it’s absurd to believe these people received the correct training to prepare this delicate and difficult meal. Pure stupidity. And we are paying for it. I’ll spare you all the nasty details but my husband is extremely sick and I’ve got bad stomach cramps and other things going for me. Life lesson learned? «Don’t be stupid because it’s hard to avoid stupid people consequences.»

This place got me and my wife terribly sick! Vomiting, Nausea, etc ill spare you the rest of the details. We had the tuna, salmon, and crab roles and we caution anyone who considers this establishment to be warned! Their sanitation is so poor they use the same gloves to grab the rice, fish, vegetables I mean talk about unsanitary! And the machine they sliced the rolls with looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for days! We became sick with the same exact symptoms right after we ate there. Yesterday! If this becomes more serious than it already is they’ll definitely be hearing from us! PLEASEDOME A FAVORANDLOOKATALLTHE UnilocalREVIEWSMEANDMYWIFEARETHE4THPEOPLETOSTATEWEGOTSICKFROMTHISPLACE!

Fusian is great! It’s like chipotle, but sushi! I was a little confused at first because I wasn’t sure where to start. The employees were very friendly and informative and walked me through the process of building my own sushi roll! I got seaweed with white rice. For protein I went with tuna and crab meat. Veggies– cucumber, avocado and jalapeño. It was so delicious and fresh tasting! They have different sauces for you to put on your sushi so I had some spicy mayo and eel sauce. Overall great food, great people and great atmosphere!

Love, love, love this place! I also love that they have multiple locations so whether I’m at OSU or home I can always get fresh and made to order sushi! For the amount of sushi you get it is very reasonably priced as well.

Following the trend of create-your-own foods, this sushi place is pretty fun. The sushi isn’t as good as you’d get from a traditional sushi place, and the price is a little on the high side($ 8 for a roll, and you’d need two to be filled). It’s nice for a quick, light bite.

I am not a huge sushi fan and I expect if you ARE and know really good sushi, you may not think this place is all that awesome. It is essentially like Chipotle for sushi where you go down a line and create your own roll. I think it’s nice that they have cooked meats in addition to raw so if you’re squeamish about it, no worries. I have been here a few times and it is always packed with students but it moves pretty quickly. The workers are friendly and it was started by some local UD grads which I think is pretty cool.

This is a fusion Japanese restaurant that focuses on sushi. The method is similar to Chipotle: Choose a wrap, protein(tuna, salmon etc), vegetables and topping. The staff was friendly. One person, perhaps a manager heard me say this was my first time and they gave us free drinks. They have different types of cold tea drinks. I sampled 4 or 5 before selecting one and they were all great! the food quality was good and I loved the tea. The environment was modern and the service friendly. The only downside was quantity for price. Since its sushi its not filling and for $ 7-$ 8 for the sushi itself anyone other than light eaters may leave hungry. I am a large eater so we went for a sub after, see the next review ha ha. But the place is great and should be tried. Its located next to the University of Dayton and parking is in the back and plentiful.

I cannot believe that I have never reviewed Fusian, seeing as how I went there once a week while in grad school at UD. Basically the Chipotle of sushi(I am sure they hate this comparison). This is a good thing though, as you hand pick everything that goes into your roll. Also, some girl mentioned it on The Valley once so there’s that.

I just moved to Dayton a few weeks ago and heard nothing but amazing things about this place. So naturally, I had to check it out! Definitely did not disappoint. I love the concept of «create your own sushi.» Simple, fresh ingredients that taste great. This is a good spot for those who are trying sushi for the first time. I loved the agave lemonade and the cucumber salad. And of course, the staff were very nice and attentive. I’ll definitely be stopping by again whenever I’m feeling a sushi craving!

Don’t go here if you’re a sushi snob. As a mere commoner(who appreciates good sushi but also occasionally lowers myself to appreciate a good deal), I’m all about the quality and amount for the price. One roll fills me up. No soft drink machine, just a variety of house-made lemonades and teas. The person comparing this place to Taco Bell must eat at a much better Taco Bell than I do. But regardless, no one goes to Taco Bell expecting authentic Mexican. Or complains on Unilocal about it. At least I hope not.

I LOVE this place! I HATE places like chipotle/qudoba, so when I was dragged here by my boyfriend I was ready for the worst experience ever… But I was saw the light! I have returned here so many times, and will continue to. Fusian actually takes care that it’s ingredients arent rotten and are taken care of before customers order them. The staff has always been friendly. The dining area is well kept and clean. Fusian is definitely a place that is great for those new to sushi! They can pick what they want rather than being stuck with something they’re not sure of. Please please go here if you’re wanting a new sushi place! It’s hip! And it’s way better than sumera!

As my review, I have to brag on the consistently awesome staff, they really make the entire experience so much better. I do love the sushi, but the customer service is just phenomenal. This is the letter I just wrote to the manager. Jon, I patroned your restaurant this evening and I had to ask for your contact information so I could brag about how wonderful your employees were. I brought a little girl with me(my next door neighbor) so she could try sushi for the first time. Coco waited on us, she took 15 minutes(as there was no line and the establishment was about to close) to carefully explain all the ingredients she could put in her roll and made her two custom rolls with different combinations of protein and veggies so she could«try everything». It made this little girl’s day. It was all she talked about the rest of the night.(And she loved the sushi) she even reminded me to «thank coco and God bless her». Coco even paid for the roll herself. Gordon also came over to check on us several times, gave us another fantastic roll., and was exceedingly nice. No one even rushed us out although we realized(after the fact) that the store was closed. The entire staff was a delight. I’ve never written a thank you to a business before but this truly warranted thanks. I have not been to many Fusian locations but I am a customer for life now. I will be writing the same in the review I leave on Unilocal, and I guarantee I will be back with more of my friends soon. Thank you for hiring such wonderful staff.

First time here and loved it. It is just like Chipotle for sushi. I had tuna roll and a salmon roll. After you pick your protein you pick all the veggies you want and sauce for topping. Price is not bad, $ 7.50 a roll, and it was as good as what I’ve had in finer restaurants and paid allot more for. Will definitely be back. Hope they open more locations.

–1 star for being a chain. But honestly. I love it. The food is high quality. I’m never sad with my roll. I love customizing it. Sure it’s pricier than regular fast food but it’s not regular fast food. The sides are delish. Cucumber and seaweed salad alike. The alcoholic beverages are authentic and abundant. TyKu. Sapporo. And San pellegrino Flavors galore! Fountain drinks are asian inspired iced teas and lemonades! BIG plus for their green initiative. Lots of recycling bins and instructables on how to. They let you know that anything from their restaurant is recyclable. LOVE that.

This place was great! Such a great idea! The people were so nice and the restaurant was open and bright and very welcoming. Parking is around back so go to the end of the block and its behind the strip of restaurants! You can even enter from the back if you want. It was very similar to a chipotle, choose your paper(rice or seaweed), choose your rice, choose your poultry(I chose tuna), and then choose all the veggies you want(I had avocado, green onions, cucumber, cream cheese, and carrots), and then they roll it up and cut it with this nifty tool and then you can put sauces and some toppings on it.(I put spicy mayo, sweet soy, crunchy tempura, and added crab mix for an extra $ 1.50). I also had the agave gingerade. Everything was delicious and worth the $ 10. Very filling! I will definitely come back!
