out of the places i go to for phở, this place was neither great nor terrible; just above average, yet still missed. of course, the place can get a little crazy, usually on the weekends, and as does the shopping complex, which makes it very difficult to find parking, but it was a good alternative if Westlake phở was too crowded.

I’m not saying this was my ultimate go to spot for phở, but for better or worse, there’s a certain level of comfort that only comes from a familiarity throughout the years. At it’s best, this place would be near capacity but unfortunately that has been steadily waning through the years. And although the food didn’t necessarily amaze me all that often, it was comforting, hearty and satisfying. And now that they’re gone, do I wish I had eaten there more often? Not really. But last night when I was craving phở, I sure wish they were open for one more day. Anyways, I’m really hoping they retain some of the staff when the new phở place opens since it’d be nice to see a familiar face.

Mediocre phở place. The soup was not really hot enough in the noodle soup, almost room temperature. Food is edible but nothing fancy. Basic service.

I’ve been here a few times. The food is pretty good. Not the best but it’s nearby where I live so it’s convenient. I give it two stars because of their customer service and because of the cleanliness. Today I came here and when I walked on and the guy yelled«how many?!?» And I put one finger up and then he hen yelled«only one!». He then grabbed a menu, handed it to me, then pointed at a table to sit. He didn’t walk me over, he didn’t place the menu on the table, he handed it to me and pointed from across the restaurant. How rude! Then as I ordered something and asked for water another man(who I’m guessing is the owner) wrote my order down and when I said«can I have water with a straw» he noticed a customer walk in and walked away from me. I’ve been sitting waiting for my water for about 6 minutes now. Now about the cleanliness, I get super grossed out here. It’s never really clean and today once I finished my phở I could see that the bowl was dirty all along the sides. Gross! I wanted to throw up! I don’t think I’ll ever be coming here again. I recommend the phở place in westlake. I can’t remember the name but it is 10 times better and cleaner!

A great place for Phở that’s close to home. I use to come here a lot and there is a lot that’s changed throughout the years — they’ve redecorated/repainted the restuarant, installed TV’s, and have increased their prices due to the economy — all in all, they still provide better customer service than most Phở restaurants. Granted, if you do come here when the lady-owner of the restaurant is here, your visit would be rather unpleasant. Majority of the time, she would slap the check on the table and don’t really pay that much attention to anyone. It seems as though she just wants you to finish as soon as possible and be on your way. However, the guy-owner is always kind and greets everyone that comes in every time. When I go to pay for my check, he is always starting a small conversation with me while he finishes the transaction. Loves talking about sports and has any big game/event on TV when he’s around. At a certain point in time, I use to come here so often that he remembered what I was going to order and was kind enough to give me more food without charging extra! They have a great selection of foods and their BBQ plates are just as delicious as their phở. I do wish they would serve boneless bbq plates like Kevin’s Noodle House and cut their Eggrolls in half so it would be easier to eat, but those are truly #firstworldproblems.

A good go-to for the locals. You can always count on quick service and reliable good food. As Phở goes, this place is pretty good. We do come here rather often as its a quick«go-to» for us. The Phở, while not the best in town, its still pretty damn good. However I do say their Shrimp Cakes are pretty good. Not the best, but pretty good, and definitely better than the most. The same owners have owned and ran this restaurant for at least 20+ years. And the food has been very consistent for all the times I’ve gone. If you are getting the Phở, I’d suggest to actually get the Small rather than the large. As far as I can tell, the only different is that the Large has more soup.

I only come here if I’m near or if Kevin’s Noodle House is packed and I don’t want to wait. I came tonight because Kevin’s was packed and I didn’t want to wait there since I was starving. Immediately greeted and I came before a rush of people came in. It got full and busy in just 3 – 5 minutes. There were 2 servers and 2 food runners, and the food runners strictly only serve you the food and return back to the kitchen. I mean yes, their job is only to run the food but if the servers are hard to flag down, shouldn’t you be able to get me a couple glasses of water? Anyways, it got so busy that service was very slow. It seemed like they were unable to handle a full house, which is understandable, because in my past visits, it was rarely ever full. When so many customers were trying to flag a server down, one of the servers was focused on bussing tables. I thought it was more important to tend to our needs than to bus tables that were not needed at that time. As for the food, the phở broth is lacking something. I mean it’s tasty, but it tasted like water and fish sauce. It costs $ 0.25 for beef on the side. REALLYTHO. I’m saving you the extra work of cooking the meat for me… Anyways, I also ordered the beef carpaccio or the Bo Tai Chanh. and the server said«do you know what that is?» I mean I see the sincerity because it’s literally raw beef and not everyone can eat that. But worse. decision. ever. It said $ 7.95 on the menu and I’m like hey, that’s pretty cheap since other restaurants charge $ 9 and up. Their fish sauce is SO bland. The main component of the dish is the sauce and it wasn’t there. So when I ate a slice of raw beef, it tasted like nothing… The meat was also really cold, like it was placed in the fridge prior, but it’s understandable since low temperature inhibits bacterial growth. It was WAAAY too raw for my liking and it being cold made it unpleasant to eat. I felt like I was going to get sick from eating it so I just dumped it into my phở broth. Nothing amazing, and servers are a bit rude. But the busser said thank you when I left, so he gets an extra star. :)

Again there aren’t a lot of phở places in Daly City. Even considering that I usually won’t go here unless I’m too lazy to head towards the phở place in Westlake. The phở is mediocre. The broth is somewhere in between somewhat bland and salty. Sometimes it feels as if they are borderline skimping out on the meat, but at least the largest bowl is pretty big. As for the rice plate, it’s pretty small considering other Vietnamese rice plates of the same price elsewhere. The service is okay. A minor grumble would be not giving our change back after paying our bill. Yes, we were going to tip you all of our change, no lie, but don’t assume you earned it.

Its been a couple of years since I moved and this place used to be my spot back in the days. Went in today since I’m in that area. Same décor and i believe the same carpet. Which to me I think it’s gross to have in hole in the wall restaurants. Prices gone up but still not that bad. I always get the combo small phở. Soup base seemed to be alot lighter than before, which I don’t mind since I used hoisin and saracha all the time. This place always have the good cuts of meats for your soup so that’s probably why I gave it an extra star. They also started to sell Bahn mi sandwiches TO-GO only. Mostly all $ 5. I got the combination Bahn mi and every bite of it wasn’t that bad. The bread was warm and toasty but the sammy was small for its price. If I am around that area I will still continue to hit this spot up for my phở/vietnamese cravings.

We always go here for Vietnamese food. We like everything here. Beef, chicken, vermicelli, rice plates, etc. The food comes out quickly. The service is nice enough.

My family and I have been going here for years and I still love coming back! I usually get the grilled beef over vermicelli noodles with a fried egg = under $ 10! Good food, good portions, great price! Their token sweet fish sauce(Filipinos call this patis) is great with the beef and I usually ask for extra to pair with my noodles. When I dont have time to sit in, I usually call ahead and it’s ready in like 5 minutes, no exaggeration! –1 star because sometimes the service lacks but whatevs.

Pho99 is not bad for phở that’s close to home. I think that might be the only reason why I come here because I’m simply too lazy to drive anywhere else. Their phone average. Nothing special and it’s not bad but it’s also not great. I’ve ordered their rice plates, their phở and their vermicelli. All were just standard but nothing to rave about. The service is ok, sometimes I find it hard to get the servers attention as there seems to only be one server, one boss and one front desk cashier. Overall, if you’re in the area and are feeling for something warm, this okace does the trick. I usually order the chicken phở but I have recently decided to try their egg noodles with fish ball. Their fish balls were not yet cooked in my soup when I got them and I think they should presoak them because I bit into a hard and dried fish ball.

since Kevin noodle house is always busy phở 99 is the second best. Not so crowded, love their mango pearl drink and recently tried their fresh spring rolls. I don’t like mint or anything related to mint and I’m glad they didn’t have that on my fresh spring roll. 5 stars because I’m satisfied.

Quality is blah. Service was okay. If I wanted phở again, I wouldn’t come here. Unlike some other reviews who say you can’t really mess up phở, you’re wrong! Haha! I went in late and I quickly ordered their combination beef noodle soup. I wasn’t a fan of the meat, as the meat quality was lacking. The broth itself could have been better, to be honest. Overall, a good family-type restaurant that does satisfy a phở craving when you have one.

Quick to greet you at the door and give you menus. Once you’re seated, you’re playing the waiting game to get someone to take your order. Their prices are average but closer to the more expensive side. It was a little more than $ 7 for a small #1. The phở isn’t bad, the noodles were a little more chewy, kind of undercooked. Broth was average and they give a decent amount of meat. Iced coffee is more on the milky side, so if you’re not looking for that caffeine boost but more of that sugar rush, this is for you. Paying for the bill was extremely awkward. I waved down a server to request the bill and he stood next to the table waiting for us to put our money down… uh okay. Will stop by if all other phở locations are packed. Aside from that, I’ll pass.

This place is a solidly good place, since recently moving to the area the GF and I have become regulars. The staff is always friendly and the food is always great! However I do agree with some of the other reviewers with the place being a bit smelly and carpet being dingy. My first time hear I almost wanted to leave but decided to take a chance which I’m glad I did. But to get 5 stars just change the carpets and everything will be A-ok

Phở 99? More like Phở 0! Horrible service mixed with even worse food. I’m really not picky, especially when it comes to phở. Just give me a decent bowl of phở with some eggrolls, and I’ll probably give you 4 stars. Nope. We had to flag our server down at least 3 times in order for him to come to our table(he made eye contact with us every time and just decided not to come). After finally placing our order, we get our food. The egg rolls were dry and to say the least, «not good». Super super disappointing. Then I’m thinking«well the phở better be good». Eh. Wrong. I can’t even explain how bad the noodles were. Let’s just say we had a party of 10+ people, and about HALF of us didn’t even bother eating the food after the first couple of bites. The broth is of the same story. Bland, no taste. Plain and simple, I would avoid coming here.

If you having Phở problems I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but Phở ain’t one. Now once upon a time not long ago. A hungry guy was craving Phở ya know. The weather that day was cold as ice. Jumped on the Unilocal app to find advice. Closest place for soup was Phở 99. Decided that would be where we can dine. Vermicelli and phở ga ordered without hesitating. Service from a friendly waiter was accommodating. Food was«ok», worth going when it’s cold and in the area. Phở from Phở 99 fits the criteria. If you having Phở problems I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but Phở ain’t one.
