Would have given 0 stars but could not. We didn’t even get to taste the food before walking out. 1.5 hour wait — just sitting there. Neighboring table received their food lukewarm. The server failed to show up for the first fifteen minutes we were seated. One person in our party had an allergy which was met with«I can’t think of anything we have that doesn’t have gluten». Finger pointing and general lack of action were the themes at this establishment. While talking to the hostess and manager about our experience the hostess mentioned they had just gone through laying off the entire kitchen staff and apologized, but the B team didn’t have it together. The staff was demoralized and frustrated. It seems this restaurant gets by on luring in unsuspecting and hungry patrons with deals on alcohol and making you pay for drinks when you figure out when your food isn’t coming. This is all thanks to Calvin’s fantastic management skills. Advice: when Oddfellows tells you they have a 1.5 hour wait — worth it and will probably end up being less than 1.5 hours. Don’t try this place as an alternative. They don’t have a wait for a reason! To be fair, the drinks and bartender were good and friendly. If you must go, sit at the bar and drink only.

This place we an amazing find! They came up as a good choice when we were searching for a brunch spot in the Arts District– and we were not disappointed! The décor is very fun– chandeliers, comfy pillows on benches, and wooden animal«mounts» along the wall. We started off with the tater tots: they somehow managed to meld a perfect tater with goat cheese and it results in heaven. I think I had tears of joy. They serve it with pickled okra spears which have a taste similar to a sweet pickle. It was phenomenal. For brunch we tried their take on a Benedict and an egg Sammy. The Benedict was perfectly made with amazing flavor. The egg Sammy was also amazingly fresh for your simple breakfast sandwich. Our perhaps shining moment came when we decided we just HAD to try the biscuit with gravy. Do not be fooled, this biscuit is enormous and the gravy will make you want to slap your momma. I could have eaten that gravy with a spoon by itself and been in love. It’s that good. Also incredibly filling– so maybe don’t try and eat it alone.

Great food, especially the country-fried steak. The place needs a cleaning and a decorator though.

Tried these guys out for brunch today. I got the chicken and biscuit with gravy. Sad to say, I was not impressed. It lacked flavor, and the biscuit was a little burned on the bottom. I’ve never been dissatisfied before with the food. Guess this just was not for me. I’ll make my way around the brunch menu till I find something I like. Oh, the truffle tater tots were good.

We visited this restaurant today after all the other restaurants in the Bishop District had a one to two hour wait for brunch. Unfortunately we should have waited. We ordered food in this restaurant that was half full and it took over an hour to get our meals. We were told our food was lost in the computer. The table next to us had the same problem, however we were both sitting in front of the kitchen. When we received our food the two orders for chicken and biscuit were un-eatable. The biscuit could not be cut with a fork and the chicken was old and tough. After waiting all this time for the awful food we were charged for a replacement order. I received the egg sandwich that was suppose to have bacon in it that I could never find. The mac & cheese was bland. Everyone was dissatisfied with their meals. We will never go to this restaurant again and it definitely is NOT comfort food but it was the worst!

I tried this place out for the first time a couple of weeks ago. First of all, the menu isn’t large and doesn’t have much variety. There were only a couple of entrees to choose from which I didn’t like. They give complimentary popcorn while waiting. However, the portion was extremely small to be shared among four ppl and they never refilled it. We had the cornbread for an appetizer which was pretty tasty and it was warm! I ordered shrimp and grits for my main course. It was pretty good and actually filling. My sister ordered the ribs that came with Mac n cheese. The ribs were delicious. The Mac n cheese has many have mentioned is quite disgusting. She sent it back and got fried instead which were much better. Overall, I probably won’t come back Bc the menu doesn’t have much to offer.

I recently visited Tillman’s Roadhouse over the weekend. During a very busy brunch hour. I have nothing but wonderful compliments about this restaurant and staff! I hosted a brunch for 20 woman yesterday and was so impressed with our experience. This was a last minute thing and I must say the staff was so accommodating and helpful. Our main server Ricardo was AMAZING. We had a few plates that were missing one thing but Ricardo solved those issues really quickly. I ordered the caesar salad with grilled chicken and it was absolutely delish. The group also ordered mimosas of course. Those were really great as well. For this restaurant to accommodate us at the last minute and also produce some great food made the brunch a success. I would highly recommend this restaurant, great food, large portions, mimosas, and great staff.

The food is different(of course it’s Bishop Arts), and great for a party. The highlight and must have is the table side s’mores. They give you different flavors of chocolate and marshmallows to fight over. The French fries are really good too. A pleaser for everyone in your party! The menu options I don’t really have a favorite, hence the 3 star review. Everything is just good, but I’m just there for the s’mores and fries anyways. Any burger to go with is fine. Lol, I took off for the little bity bar. I can’t stand when they design a restaurant with an unaccommodating bar. And it’s in a weird space so double whammy. This is just a place to go eat, and best for groups.

Despite the location, I still like this place haha. It’s located in Bishop Arts and the parking situation there is TERRIBLE. LIMITEDPARKING seems to be the name of that game. I had to circle numerous times before find a solution. One I won’t mention, as it isn’t reliable.(or maybe it’s just a secret. who knows?) But if you see a free spot anywhere, I suggest you take it immediately. I would never have thought to come here, despite going to the TIllman’s in Fort Worth(but just once). I went here for a baby shower actually and it was absolutely lovely. The location, on top of terrible parking, is a bit SMALL. You know how bars in Austin, TX are mainly long and not wide? That’s about a accurate description of this place than any. There’s a private room in the back, which is where the baby shower was held. It is near the red door restrooms. I only mention this because a friend and I walked all the way to the front before asking a staff member, who directed us back towards the direction we came. We had a preset menu with options and the food was great. The hosts were two(2) friends of my friend, so I am unsure of the specific details. I would assume Tillman’s designed and made the preset menu that was printed on the table, but I suppose the others could have made it as well. Either way, they were a great compliment to the brunch. There were eight(8) of us seated at the one long table in the back room. There was a table for gifts and I’m sure you can make the room any configuration you wish, if you were to reserve the room. We had different types of drinks; mimosas, sangria, orange juice, and of course water. It was nice of them to have alcoholic beverages despite it being a baby shower. The mimosas were good, but not too strong as they were pre-made. I did not get a chance to taste the sangria, but it looked amazing. The staff was nice and helpful. They made themselves scarce for the most part, which was nice and bad at the same time. The woman of the hour had to constantly ask for her drinks, as the pitchers left in the room were of alcoholic nature. There were small bowls of popcorn placed on the tables. I had a taste but they weren’t so good, to eat more than three(3) pieces. They actually started to taste quite strange and even know I’m not sure what to say to describe them. Perhaps a certain flavor type of kettle corn, flavor TBD. Then the two(2) appetizers came out; Cesar salad and fruit plate. We had two large plates of the Cesar Salad that had these awesome«croutons» on them. «Croutons» in quotes because I swear it was more like a breaded, fried cheese than any type of bread croutons. I’m pretty sure I’m right on that one haha. Everyone loved them and they were a great touch. They also included some corn with the other typical aspects of a Cesar salad. The fruit plate had fresh fruit that was not too sweet though. It comprised of a mixture of cantaloupe, honey dew, strawberries, grapes, and few pineapple pieces. The fruit was cut rather small and into squares. Next there were three(3) options for the main course; some sort of salmon tostada, buttermilk chicken biscuit, and one other thing that escapes my memory. The salmon tostada came out on three small tostadas on a place. I got the buttermilk chicken biscuit that came with a poblano sauce. The chicken was battered and cooked well. The biscuits were a bit thick, so as a typical girl(conscious of how much she eats, opposed to what) I did not eat the entire breading of the biscuit. It was very filling and was larger than I had expected it to be. For dessert, we had a SMORESPLATTER equipped with it’s own small tiny fire pit… thing. It came with these graham cracker type crackers, not the actual brand ones that everyone normally defaults to thinking of. These graham crackers were dark and thin. Two(2) types of marsh mellows were provided as well. One was blue and rectangular, which we all though was a cotton candy marsh mellow even though there were no distinctions in taste. The other was a normal marsh mellow in tear drop form. Squares of chocolate on the side. We were unsure of the particular type of chocolates they were but they were SOGOOD. It was a nice entertainment piece to the entire brunch. Refer to pic for clarity. Another long review I know, but I WOULDCOMEBACK during a non-busy time. I do recommend you trying this place out.

I have so many wonderful compliments about this restaurant and staff! I hosted a bridal shower for 13 guests yesterday and was so impressed with our experience. Organizing this shower was so easy! Sara Tillman communicated with me directly to make sure our day was perfect! She was incredibly accommodating, answering all my emails and questions. From the moment that we walked through the door, we were greeted with nothing but absolute professionalism. Our server, Carlos immediately offered us drinks and continued to be extremely accommodating throughout the entire day. He found tables for our dessert bar, adjusted the AC several times to our liking, found a trash bag for our used wrapping paper, and offered to help carry out gifts to our cars. Our drinks were never once empty. He was attentive to every single guest. He really helped make the day a success. The food was so delicious! The trio of fries were a hit and everyone loved their entrees. The homemade ketchup is to die for! The room was absolutely stunning! Everyone loved the décor and how intimate the setting made our shower. We all felt like we got an excellent value for this room. I looked at other venues that were much more expensive and offered much less. This was the prefect setting for our shower. I will definitely be back!

Remember the first Hulk movie with Eric Bana? Do you remember how much you anticipated that motion picture? Eating at Tillman’s reminded me of that experience: the idea was great but the execution? A complete failure. I visited on a Friday night with the man friend. The ambiance was perfect and the wait staff made me almost forget that my boyfriend was sitting right in front of me.(The guys are cuties, ladies). However the view didn’t keep me from writing this nasty review. My steak was cold and cooked rare instead of medium and my man friend’s burger tastes as it it were doused in dishwashing liquid. We had to send it back! In other news the fries were good. Thrillist had it on the list for some of the best fries in Dallas – umm not so sure about that. The dipping sauces are grand! It very well just could’ve been a bad night.

As previous reviewers have noted, the mac n cheese is atrocious. Kraft is better. Seriously. A soupy, powdered cheese mess. I got the Ribs, and stuck with the«bacon mac & cheese» side option; there were literally 4 of the smallest, barely cooked bits of bacon(and I mean BITS), and the aforementioned souplike mac n cheese. No actual(grated or sliced) cheese to be found. The ribs were decently prepared, but the flavoring & accompanying sauce left much to be desired. I asked to swap out the Mac & Cheese for fries, because what can go wrong with fries, right? Wrong. The fries came out looking and smelling great. Well seasoned. But imagine my dismay when I eat these piping hot lovelies and find that they are completely undercooked. Not slightly. Not«these are on the soft side» undercooked. These were like eating potatoes cut into fry-like shapes, seasoned, and then put in the microwave. This may seem nit-picky; however when you’re spending upwards of $ 28 a plate I feel you deserve a bit more than what you could get at Chili’s. Or, at bare minimum, you should get a meal that actually meets the standard of a sad little place like Chili’s other than in food presentation. Especially considering that there’s less than 9 entrees to even choose from in the first place… you’d think specializing would lend to increased quality. To quote Jim Halpert quoting Dwight Schrute, «False.» This is Texas; there are much better options for«Roadhouse”-style cuisine, so you’re better of trying any of the other options.

I was up visiting a friend in Dallas. We ended up in Bishop Arts for brunch. Ambiance was great. Very laid back and brunch like. I loved the décor — something about animal heads hanging on the wall which did not really come from live animals is a plus to me. We arrived Sunday about 2 – 3PM. The place filled up with people but was super crowded. Service was good. Server was polite, and food came out at a reasonable time. One gripe I have is that the server brought out 3 glasses for the mimosa pitcher for a table of 6. At the end, he split the pitcher between everyone… hmm… I guess he was assuming the rest of us took part in the drinking by… swigging from the pitcher? Anyways, that wasn’t a biggie. However, when one of the guests asked to have the check re-split correctly, he hesitated it was as if we were at fault for him doing incorrect math. Oh well… moving on. Food was delicious. My friend and I split three appetizers: Wedge Salad: Very good. I’m not a big blue cheese fan, but the flavor of the dressing was mild and smooth. Chips and Kale with Pimento Cheese Dip: Also very good. Chips were perfectly crisp and Kale was delicious too. My only comment is the oil. You can actually see the oil coating the Kale in my picture. Otherwise, very tasty… dip was yumz. Tater Tots with Goat Cheese and Truffle: My favorite. I’ve never had tater tots with goat cheese before. It was phenomenal. If anything, I would come back here just to order another plate of the tater tots… so obviously a 10 in my book. House coffee: Meh. It wasn’t strong enough for my taste. Overall great experience

Having not scoped some good olé’ fashioned Mac and Cheese for a while here in Dallas, I decided to give nearby Tillman’s Roadhouse a go having heard good things specifically about the mac n cheese. While it pains me to say it considering the good reviews, my experience when it came to the dish wasn’t a good one. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? I’m efficient when I’ve got my mind set on a particular dish, so I didn’t mess around later one Tuesday night when I opted to test out the mac n cheese. Came in, sat at the bar, ordered up a dish and a drink and was on my grind as it were. Service was absolutely lightning fast(maybe even too fast considering the quality of the dish, which I’ll touch on later) and my bartender was friendly. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Dallas is a mac n cheese city from top to bottom, and essentially the only negative side effect of that is that you can end up with premium prices floating around for basic additions like bacon, truffle ingredients, etc. Tillman’s Roadhouse doesn’t do this, and my decent sized mac n cheese dish came in at only $ 6, which was cheaper than my $ 7 pint of Blood and Honey. That’s value. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? with that, it all came crashing down. Mac and cheese is generally pretty simple, and it often comes down to flavor, consistency, and extras. A quick look at my picture below is likely enough to tell you that my dish failed the consistency test as my mac n cheese was about as soupy as it can get. That’s not a good thing, and at the end of the dish it started to feel like I was just sipping on macaroni cheese soup. Flavor? Not great, with a standard cheesey flavor without any real imagination coming together with pasta that was slightly overcooked(as if it’d been sitting around for a while which, considering how quickly it was served, may have been the case). Finally, the extras were equally weak, with hardly any bacon in the equation and no other flair that could have come in the form of black or red pepper, some onion, or anything to liven it up. I wasn’t impressed, and wished I had ordered something else off of what was otherwise a very broad and impressive menu. No Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I’m going to guess that other dishes trump the mac n cheese, although the mac is pretty often referenced in the positive reviews. Maybe I just came on an off night? I’ll likely be back to try something else, but in the meantime I simply can’t recommend Tillman’s when there’s such fierce competition elsewhere. No Star Granted.

Love this place. Walked in at 11 on a Saturday. Good Bloody Mary. Great décor. Shared the monkey bread which was great. Had the fried egg sammy and the husband had the chili rellenos. Actually liked his better, but mine was great too. Good service, overall a very enjoyable meal.

OMG firstly the truffle popcorn I can eat that all day. Very tasty. The drinks were very nice. The shrimp and grits were purely North Carolina style, shrimp were tasty but the grits were hominy not creamy like I prefer. The baby back ribs are must try! Fall of the bone with a dipping sauce that is awesome. The corn bread was very good and I don’t like corn bread and the goat cheese truffles was not over bearing and very good. The service hands down was awesome. Dessert the apple crisp was 3 stars but the Smores were a tasty delight

Horrible weekend parking. Great service. Flavorless food. My visit was on a Saturday evening, and I kid you not I spent 15 minutes just trying to find the restaurant and then a parking space. After circling 4 times and being told by two valet stands that they were full k finally found a valet attendant that had room for my car since street Parking was out of the question. The service and atmosphere were awesome. The wait staff was very attentive and quick! Now after all the pics and reviews from Unilocal I was super excited for me and my friends to try the food! We ordered shrimp and grits, ribs, the chicken fried steak, and the duck nachos. Maybe ALL of our tastebuds were off but the food looked great but had zero flavor! Talk about a let down. So I say all of that to say, you could spend your $ 30+ somewhere else on something more delicious where parking is much easier.

We didn’t know what to expect from this place. We literally just went in. Browsed thru the menu and it seemed like prices are a little high… Went ahead and order. We had the Pork Oso Bucco and Chicken fried steak. Everything is good and the meats are tender and flavorful. We just think that it’s a bit pricey. We’re used to $ 13 chicken fried steak. Haha.

Yes. Just yes. Apparently, the wait can be bad in the evening, so we decided to try brunch. Our waiter was attentive and quite funny. He was very welcoming to our group of four people(two friends visiting from Chicago). Part of the fun of going out as a group, we all sampled each other’s meals. Eggs Benny — Presentation, great. Flavor, spot on. Chilaquiles — Not special, but good. Chicken N’ Biscuit — Overpriced. The portions were off. Not enough sauce and the chicken was a little dry. T Burger — A pretty solid burger. No complaints. Truffle Tator Tots — These were the highlight of the meal. Do not skip out on these! The texture was smoother than expected, but oh so delicious. PS — The bottomless mimosa was a hit.

We came here for DFW Restaurant Week with a few friends. This was our first time here and we were blown away! Here is a breakdown of what we ordered: Appetizers: Goat cheese tator tots, duck nachos & truffle popcorn. All of these apps were really good. The goat cheese tator tots were extremely rich and it took four of us at the table to finish them. I don’t think I will order them again, but I had to try them. The popcorn was complimentary and was gone within seconds. The duck nachos were surprisingly good with a nice crunch and varied texture. Entrée: Petite tender. Whoa. What can I say excellent complete deliciousness?! Between the medium rare steak, spinach, heirloom tomatoes, crispy onion straws and blue cheese sauce I was in Heaven. I would order this again in a heartbeat. Dessert: Single S’more and Maple Bacon Sundae. My S’more was delicious. I wish there was more than one. The sundae was interesting. The only thing that didn’t work was the raisins in the dish. Hard toffee would have complimented it better and added the texture the dish lacked. Service was excellent and the restaurant was beautiful, inside and outside. All in all, for $ 35 a person, our meal was totally worth it. We hope to come back soon and try more items on the menu!
