When I need a unique gift for someone, I head here first! Candles, cleverly worded signs, gorgeous crosses, elegant jewelry, they’ve got it.

My family’s go-to store for gifts! When we first started going, it was a tiny boutique that leaned more towards«mom» clothes and accessories but now they’ve expanded their store into the space next door and I was pleasantly surprised with their larger selection. I picked myself up a cute shirt for just around $ 30, some Vera Bradley graduation gifts for family friends(their Vera Bradley selection is one of the largest I’ve seen) and had to resist splurging on a Capri Blue candle(so many to choose from!). I also love their greeting card collection. No cheesy cards here! They’ll gift wrap whatever you need them to and help guide you in the right direction for the perfect gift.

Well– I started going to this store pretty regularly since Jan 2012(every other week). They have a great collection of Vera Bradley, Chamilia, and Troll beads. I have spent a couple hundred dollars on gifts, beads, and odds and ends(lot’s of cute things on the way to theh cash wrap). However, there is a particular employee there who was kind of sharp tongued and rolled her eyes a couple times when I asked her if something was on sale(they have a Vera Bradley 30% shelf). Well, the last time I was there she was SORUDE to another employee that was helping me. When she walked away I said to this employee(«oh my goodness, what was that about?») and she answered me– oh that’s the owner– you know just go along with it. I CANNOTBELIEVE the owner of this store is so rude to both her customers and her employees. It was a handful of times — with only the last time I realized this was the owner– so maybe she was having a bad day… but I won’t spend anymore money in her store. There are lots of places that sell the items she does in her store.

The Store carries a wide selection of collectibles, sentimental objects, and trinkets for every monumental occasion. Whether you have a christening, wedding, graduation, anniversary, or birthday to attend — The Shop is overloaded with snazzy objects that grab your eye, but more importantly serve as a thoughtful gift to friends and family. I will admit, sometimes I get second-hand embarrassment with over-the-top corny gift items. Particularly things lined with furry hot pink fringe that say slogans like«All you need is your girlfriends and some wine!» but this place seems to know how to moderate the cheetah print and tackiness. Regardless that the corny items still exist in the store, you can still find lovely and tasteful gifts.

Ok, so I am a fan of Trollbeads and am always searching for new bling for my bracelet so I googled and found The Store in Lake Highlands. It’s in a nondescript strip mall and boy, was I surprised when I got inside! I expected a smallish beady-jewelry-hippie kind of shop but instead found a large place with trendy stuff for everybody in your family. It’s a great place for finding unusual gifts all the way from baby goodies to kitchen kitch to candles to college team paraphernalia and clothing for hip moms. I didn’t know where to look first and I know I didn’t see everything there was to see in this big store because it’s crammed full of stuff! It has mostly stuff from market but, boy, do the owners have a good eye for trends and they keep a friendly price point too. I am going to go back for Christmas shopping and to get more Trollbeads!
