Best Beef Patties in DFW hands down! You don’t know what they are? Ask! Now I didn’t expect to stumble upon something so good at the food court, but after talking to the young lady that works/manages the place she has big plans. Interestingly amongst all the fancy signs at the food court, this sign doesn’t jump out at you. But the smells judo kick you right in the face! Good down home cooking is happening behind the scenes. Another interesting bit of info, the cater events as well.

I brought my family into this barely open mall with a craving for Jamaican. The lights were on, but no one ever came to the counter. Must be out of business. Had to settle for Chinese food next door. Even tried to call…

If you are in the Valley View Center mall, it’s better than most of the other choices but I wouldn’t make it a destination. I was in the neighborhood so I bought the Unilocal $ 5 for $ 10 online coupon and searched for The Jamaican Pot in the mall food court. It is labeled«Wings Yard», so unlike me disregard the«Jamaican Pot» part when looking for it. Service was good and accompanied by a smile. The combo dinners(chicken, fries and a canned beverage) are $ 10, which resulted in a $ 5 full meal. Very good value. I chose the jerk chicken wings as the meat and it was accompanied by nicely deep fried steak fries and a can of lemonade. I wanted to like the wings but the jerk seasoning had too much cloves for my taste; I did like the sneaky hot but I can still taste the cloves(shudder). I’d like to try something other than the jerk style before writing them off.

I purchased a Unilocal discount coupon and it took me three days to actually use it because I was given different operating hours on the two occasions I called. BUT!!! Let me tell you it was soooooo worth it. The food is amazing. I had the banana bread… the best I have ever had. It was moist and had an ingredient I could not place that gave it such a great flavor. We also had the meat pies. Fantastic. And the ox tails… so freaking good. I’m not a fan of the rice and beans(they are average and I have had better) but overall the food was really good. I’m going back to try the jerk chicken and curry chicken.

This is the place I’ve been looking for since my trip back from the caribbean. Quality and authentic jamaican food at a reasonable price. The staff,(Christine in particular) was very helpful in catering all customer needs to make this place a regular. Must try the salmon entrée, with rice/beans, cabbage and a side of plantains to top it off. Tee Isaac
