Came here for my girlfriends birthday dinner, we had flies everywhere and my girlfriend got the wrong order to begin with and our waitress took 20 min to ever come back to our outside table before we could ask for her to correct the order, but this was not before she stood at a table of men she was just having an idle chat with for about 8 – 9 minutes, she comped the messed up meal after I asked her too. Food was good enough, wait staff needs to be more attentive and they should do something about the massive amounts of flies they have outside.

This used to be one of my favorite spots but the bar services are not good and should be a lot better. The overall staff is very friendly, responsive, and attentive, so my gripe is the guy at the bar(long hair w/ponytail). During my last visit he ignored me and 2 others for at least 30 minutes, finally I went to the bar to let him know I needed to waited on. I am sitting at the bar right now and again I needed to chase him for services. In my opinion his focus should be on the customers and not parting as a customer. I really like this place because of the great food, atmosphere, and vibe, however I need the bartender to be more attentive to the customers instead of having a GOOD time.

I got really excited when we saw seafood and Cajun cuisine in the Bishop Arts District. We decided to be tourists in our own city for the day, so we decided to hang out here for the first time. The pictures looked really good on Unilocal,so we decided to check it out. For starters, we ordered a dozen oysters for $ 6.50, which was a steal. They were average sized, so not bad for the price. I don’t know of any place that has a dozen for that price. Let’s say we swallowed those whole and followed with a smile on our faces. Next up were the main courses. I had the shrimp and crawfish nachos which was huge! It could be split for sure. There weren’t many crawfish bites in there, but there was more fried shrimp so it made it better. The dish was really pretty, but it had a lot of sauce on there which made it too soggy in my opinion. The dish wasn’t bad though. It was definitely filling. My husband had the shrimp poboy. It just average. It wasn’t anything special or anything that I would want to come back for. It was dressed with lettuce and tomatoes and mayo. It did have a lot of shrimp which was good. The ambience was really casual and laid back. There’s a bunch of windows where you can easily see outside. There was a corner area for a band and there happened to be live music when we walked in. There’s a nice patio also at the entrance for that al fresco dining. Service was nothing out of the ordinary, but somehow it took forever for them to take the tray of empty oyster shells, pretty much by the time we were halfway into our meals and numerous people passed by. Never got my water refilled… I guess I didn’t expect much. Anyways…it’s too far from home to drive all the way out here for this. I liked the area in general though. Lots of culture around.

I don’t like strong drink but I want to taste the liquor atleast my margarita was pure lemon juice– my husband crown & coke was only coke oh he HATED his mule said it was weak. Oh service isn’t good either will not be coming back

Horrible service and food! Some friends and I visited this place the other night, and the experience was so bad that we contemplated leaving before the food even arrived. Then the food arrived and we were mad at ourselves even more for staying. First, our waitress either did not want to be at work or it was her 1st day waitressing. Ever. She came to check on the table MAYBE every 15 – 20 minutes. I ordered a particular beer, and apparently they were out of stock. But instead of informing me of this and asking for my next choice, she tried to slide me another beer made by the same company. When I fold her it wasn’t what I ordered, she said«We’re out of that one but you can try this.» Then I asked if I could have a catfish dish with the catfish blackened, as opposed to fried, and she said she didn’t think they could do that. But that I could order a blackened catfish poboy or a different dish advertised with it blackened. What?!? After waiting 45 minutes after ordering food, it arrives only to mimic an instant ready meal anyone of us could make for $ 2.99. The«catfish»(which the chef had to authorize it to be blackened) was almost certainly Tilapia from a frozen bag. The shrimp was definitely from a thawed bag bought from a grocer, and the bacon mac n cheese was Easy Mac. And as a guy from Nola who’s been a bachelor for several years, my taste buds are above qualified to differentiate each of those items from quality food. Save yourself the circus and disappointment and go to Long John Silvers instead.

Firecracker shrimp and grits… mmmm delicious! Also one of the best grilled chicken Caesar salads we’ve had. Great lunch and HH prices. Love to sit outside with a cold brew and hot platter during crawfish season.

The fish was so fishy– not fresh. I can’t believe people like this place. Very friendly staff but the food and drinks were not good

Well at the risk of sounding redundant at what seems to be a cliché with regards to this restaurant, I must say that the service is over all poor. Very poor. I gave this place several chances before moving to Los Angeles because the $ 5 oyster deal was just to good to pass up. After being gone for a year and a half, I’ve been twice and service has declined from the substandard service it was before I left. Waiting to be acknowledged by servers who make it clear they are less than thrilled to see you is a common thing here along with having to wait to get a menu or any kind of opportunity to order anything. I grew up in and around the restaurant business. I’ve worked in some the top restaurants in Texas and Los Angeles. I understand when a place is busy or short staffed. I notice all the other little things as well. I usually tip 50% on my tab when I dine out. Pier 247, like it’s sister restaurant 303, has«so so» food at best and both need a complete overhaul when it comes to service. Also, the oysters are now $ 6.50 which is still a good deal but I think I’ll be okay with paying twice as much at La Calle Doce for a better over all experience in a local seafood spot.

Amazing patio!!! Happy hour 11 – 7 Mon-Fri and ALLDAY Happy hour on Thursdays!!! They even have crawfish!!! The Boudain Balls were so yummy and my Hot Damn burger was cooked perfect! My girlfriend got the catfish basket and ate it all! Service was spot on and she was super friendly. Learned the hours on Unilocal are wrong– the kitchen closes at 10 mon– Thursday, but bar is open til 12 if busy. Friday and sat the kitchen is open til 12! Definitely will return!!!

This was amazing. I’m so glad my friend suggested that we meet up here. Their happy hour beverages were strong and around $ 5 – 6. Two definitely could have done the trick. I ordered the catfish bucket, although it was definitely hard to settle on an item as everything tickled my fancy. They had plenty of outdoor seating and tv’s so that I could watch March Madness. Our waiter was attentive and patient as I kept going back-and-forth with my dinner selection(insert: OPTIONS). I hate that they only sell crawfish on the weekend, but I will definitely be returning here!

We sat down and were literally ignored for about 20 minutes before we decided to leave. However, they had some great specials going on and the atmosphere itself is really nice. Great décor. I wish I had more positive things to say and that I could give them a better rating, but service is just as important as food — which we weren’t able to order. We made eye contact with the waitress helping the table next to us several times and nothing. She came and checked on them at least 4 times before we decided to leave. No drinks, no food. Not happy! But maybe it was just a bad night? Either way, specials looked great & so was atmosphere!

I’ve been here for more than 30 minutes. I had to seat myself at a table that wasn’t cleaned. I’ve watched waiters and waitresses walk by me many times without asking if I’ve been helped or for a drink. I’ve seen people get their meals and leave before I was acknowledged. Almost an hour later, somebody asked me if I needed any assistance.

I had the fried catfish basket with fries, and both items came out piping hot which was nice. The coating on the catfish was a hybrid between a thicker, beer batter and a traditional corn meal batter. The place was jumping on a Friday night, so the wait was about 45 minutes, but we were able to wait at the bar and enjoyed some Blood and Honey on tap. Service was friendly. Overall, it was a nice fried ride.

Love this place! Food came out fast, friendly staff. Everything was reserved inside so we sat outside it was nice and breezy. They even brought outside heaters by incase we got cold! Everything was very tasty and full of flavor. Oyster $ 5.95 a dz. Not bad! Crawfish a bit too salty. Boudin balls well battered but too wet inside. Nachos yum. Crab cakes delish. Will def come back. Btw hard to find parking, we paid $ 10 on a Saturday to park close by. Our waiter looks like dj khaled… another one… lol

Food(**** out of *****); Fried catfish was very good. It was not greasy, very crispy yet with soft flesh that is not earthy tasting at all. Bad catfish tastes earthy because catfish are bottom feeders. Their catfish is not earthy at all. The raw oysters are small Gulf oysters and sell for just $ 6 a dozen. Very fresh oysters. The gumbo was so-so. Pappadeaux’s gumbo was better with bigger shrimp and a cornucopia of seafood(oysters, shrimp, scallops, fish, etc.) Pier 247’s gumbo only had shrimp & sausage in it but the flavor and thickness is correct for a Louisiana gumbo, though. Service(***** out of *****); Very attentive service. Checked on us often. Atmosphere(**** out of *****); Spartan décor but had free live entertainment. A band played Steppenwolf, Jimi Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughn covers all night. Conclusion(*****out of *****); The tally is 4 stars but I added an extra star for value since the food is so inexpensive. The raw oysters are only $ 6 per dozen. Happy hour beer is only $ 2.50. Outside of happy hour, their beers(PBL& Tecate) is $ 3 and the Coney Island hard root beer is only $ 3 in cans. If you enjoy raw oysters, beer and live entertainment, then this is the place. I mean, where else are you going to get live entertainment, a dozen oysters and a beer for just $ 8.50? I paid that much for my last McDonald’s meal!

Went on lunch with a colleague and had a pretty decent lunch. The food was good and well priced. We both ordered from the 9 $ section of the lunch menu and got a large portion of tasty food. Weather was nice so we sat on the patio. The patio is nice and has a good amount of shade. As for the service, it could of been better. We were told by two separate waitresses that they were short staffed. Given that was our first intro to the place that kinda sucked.

Food is good. My wife got the Fried catfish with shrimp and bacon mac and cheese, she loved it. I decided to try the Shrimp and crawfish tail fondue; it was good but I felt it had to much pepper, which was very over powering. I am also not a fan of the toasted french bread; I believe lightly toasted with butter would have been a better compliment to the fondue. That being said I would still come back and try something different. The waiter was ok and the rest of the staff payed attention to make sure that we were being taken care of. Atmosphere was great, so I give them 4 stars for now.

My husband and I were staying at the Magnolia Hotel on a Friday night, and were attending the Anthony Bourdain show at the Majestic, followed by a reception at the DMA. We were looking for a casual dinner place and a friend suggested the Bishop Arts District. Hubby eats only seafood, fish and veggies and I eat like an eight year old, so we selected Pier 247. We took Lyft so we didn’t have to worry about drinking and driving, but they do have a small parking lot on the side, Outdoor patio with a big fan with misters and a rustic inside seating area with picnic table bench thingies. Very casual atmosphere and family friendly(they had a men’s bathroom, a ladies bathroom and a family bathroom) so pretty much good for everyone. They have an amazing happy hour until 7p and we each had two drinks. Their frozen drinks and fancy mixed drinks are all served in pint glasses and are only $ 5 during happy hour. I had some peachy fruity thing and a hurricane, both which were cold and tasty. They have a daily deal for $ 6 for a dozen raw oysters; however, they were out of them when we arrived and were awaiting a new delivery at 6:30pm. Our waitress remembered my husband wanted some and she came over to confirm that after his sandwich, he still did. Great attention to detail! I ordered the regular cheeseburger, that came with bacon and all the fixings, on a soft, squishy brioche bun. Perfectly cooked to medium rare, it tastes just like it came off your charcoal grill at home. Just greasy enough to trickle down your hand, but the bun held together like a champ! I opted for a side salad, which was basic lettuce, tomatoes, sliced cucumbers and non-descript ranch dressing. Not memorable, but good enough. Hubby ordered the Ultimate Seafood Sandwich, hold the bacon. It was huge, with a crab cake, crawfish and crab mayo. He proclaimed it «really good» and ate every bite. His fries were average. My husband received a dozen raw oysters, complete with horseradish, lemons and hot sauce. He ate every one and said they were quite delish! Grand total was about $ 40 and we left stuffed. Nice, loud, casual ambience, great happy hour prices and solid food make this a good deal!

Pier 247 has been on my list as I’ve passed it many times while out and about in Bishop Arts. My uncle’s birthday was not too long ago and we decided to go there to celebrate with a family dinner. I was very surprised by a couple of things at Pier 247. I was surprised by the fact that parking was available in their own little lot on a Saturday afternoon. That was a definitely plus as parking is hard to come by in Bishop Arts. The other surprise was that they have a patio where you can sit outdoors. I don’t know who in my family thought it was a good idea to sit out on the patio when it was in the 80s and muggy but we sat out on the patio. Service was pretty prompt. We were not ignored on the patio and our waitress Sabrina was visible. The food itself wasn’t too bad. My complaints are as follows. 1) It was 2:30 on a Saturday but they were on dinner menu. Really? Because the menu online says that lunch is served until 4 pm everyday but apparently weekends are not part of that offering. 2) Drinks are expensive. I ordered a pomegranate margarita but they were out(of pomegranate I suppose) and I had to order something else. $ 8.75 for a melted margarita? No thanks. They weren’t even that busy to have used the machine to the point where drinks were not completely frozen. 3) The bread on my po boy wasn’t crunchy. The sandwich itself wasn’t bad and there was plenty of shrimp but it would’ve been better if the po boy had just a little bit of crunch. Overall, I will give this place another try because service was great, it’s a cute little restaurant, and I love the location. However, if the food/drink situation does not improve, the 3 star rating will remain.
