Mom had read about Phil’s in the Advocate. It’s 5 minutes from their house so we dropped in for a late lunch. The atmosphere is nothing exciting but the food makes up for it. Mom had the 99 cent chopped beef sandwich. Dad and I shared a 2 piece fried catfish platter which came with lettuce/tomato/onion garnish and fries. The fries were tasty and the catfish was a nice thin filet with a light crispy corn meal batter, the kind that will the change the minds of people who say they don’t like catfish. The staff was exceedingly friendly.

Been here several times now as it is only minutes from my work. i have had the $ 0.99 chop sandwich and the delicious fried catfish. the fries are seasoned well and you just cant beat the price. Once i told everyone in my office about this inexpensively great place, they were hooked as well. Def worth a stop and a moment to meet the owner Phil, a very nice, personable owner who obviously takes pride in what they do.

I was frivolously driving through the ‘hood on the way to Four Corners Brewery, and got a craving for something delicious and cheap. I knew there was a Taco Bell nearby and heading down Singleton Blvd when I spotted the white and red sign exclaiming they have .99 cent chopped beef sandwiches. Done deal. Parked at the adjacent tire shop, ordered two to go, and almost burned my hand on the way out. The sandwiches were hot, fresh, and delicious! Pop in for a few!
