We had lunch from main menu today. Guess what. Food isn’t as good as it was some 10 — 15 years ago. I had tilapia with seafood sause on a bead of whole black beans. Over mexican rice would have been better. My lady friend had shrimp overv cheese enchiladas. Too much of cheese with tomatoe sauce. She herself used to run a mexican restaurant on Travis Walk. Both of us know good mexican seafood. This was the last time we go there. Very disappointed. TomG.

I tell people quite frequently how much I love this restaurant! It may be my favorite place to eat in Dallas. The service is great and the Bloody Mary on the brunch menu never disappoints. There is something for everyone here and big portions that are more than worth the price. Fondue Cancun is to die for, a must have in my opinion. Romantic and delicious… what more could you ask for?

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years. No disappointments ever. Brunch specials on Sunday are amazing.

I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl. I ordered grilled chicken and had some veggies on the side. The veggies were delicious. This meal came with a tortilla soup that was really gooey looking and lacked an extreme amount of flavor. I’ve had other dishes here before though that have been quite tasty which is why I am giving it a high rating. I remember having the flan as a little girl and not liking it, but I volunteered with my school at the Latin Gourmet Awards and the La Calle Doce handed out the most delicious flan ever! New recipe, maybe? The cheese was ordered as an appetizer this time around and it tasted straight out of the can. My friend also wasn’t pleased with her lemonade– said it was too sugary. I think they put the most effort into the main dishes. 3.5 I’d say.

Still think they serve great food and the staff(waitress/waiters) are awesome but they DIDNOT honor my Check In Unilocal offer. I’ve used it in the past :(The manager told me he had no idea who put this on Unilocal but to his knowledge they have never honored it.

The cevice is the best! However, they didn’t honor the Unilocal Coupon for a $ 1 margarita and the sugar caddies on the patio look like they haven’t been changed out in few seasons. Gross.

Food was okay. Grilled veggies were delicious and the fish was fresh, BUT don’t believe the $ 1 margarita offer on their page. We both claimed it only to have the manager explain that he doesn’t know anything about Unilocal and it is made up. They didn’t honor it. It’s the little things.

Let’s get straight to the point. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had in all the restaurants in Dallas. It is extremely hard to make me dislike a place and not want to pay a tip. I understand how it is to be a waitress & a manager. As a customer I was very disappointed in how the staff and manager handle everything. –they were short of waiters so they took about 15 minutes to ask for our drinks, 15 minutes later we asked for our menus. 15 minutes later we received our drinks. I have never had to wait SO long for service. Then the manager came and instead of asking how we were he came to just watch and leave. What the hell was that all about? Very forgetful staff. Very Inattentive. –Now lets talk about the food. The food was horrible. It was not worth the price and it was not at all delicious. I’ve tasted better from smaller restaurants. Several people from my group had to return there entrée and change it for something else because it was absolutely terrible. I will say this. I came to this restaurant with a big party so it could be that they can’t handle big parties. Maybe if it’s 1 – 4 people the service is good. I don’t know. But if you plan to bring a big party… Don’t! Nonetheless, I wouldn’t go back because the food was definitely not worth it. If your going to be a restaurant specializing in fish… Learn how to cook it without it tasting bland or dry.

Had a dinner party last evening that was not up to par, in fact disastrous. Though you can see the use of fresh ingredients, it was failed execution by the kitchen. We had poor drink service(only came by our table twice in an hour and half), our waitress was burnt out and perhaps due to the lack receiving any help on the floor, we did not get waters for over 25 minutes, no new chips when the table order multiple guacamole and queso order for our group. When we were served our fajita entrée, our fire burnt out within 2 minutes which de not matter as our beef was burnt charred like a rubbery dog toy. This was after the dinner rush as well. It was a comedy of errors and very disappointing. Front of house /management issues. Not recommended for large groups.

The second Tuesday of every month is the traditional«Ceviche on the Beach» night at my Playa del Carmen bungalow in Mexico.(It’s only 5300 square feet, so it officially earns the title of a «bungalow.») When I buzzed Lillian, my pilot, on Tuesday morning to ready the Gulfstream for a trip down south, she notified me that damn Lucas had recruited her as his new pilot behind my back.(He better not beg me again to bankroll another Star Wars flick!) Too late to get another pilot and needing my cerviche fix, I headed over to La Calle Doce in Lakewood sans date. THEGOOD: The Ceviche was terrific; on par with that made by my Playa del Carmen chef, Enrique. I chased the Ceviche with Huachinango a la Veracruzana; almost as tasty as the 37 pound red snapper that I caught off of Costa Rica, in my yacht, The Misty Lass. The service was snappy, efficient, and friendly. THEBAD: Sadly, La Calle Dolce does not face a Caribbean beach.(I might have to do something about that.) THEUGLY: Since I was without a companion, some might have thought I looked the part of an unwanted waif; especially since I was wearing a blazer from last season’s Ermenegildo Zegna collection. Damn. After my meal at La Calle Doce, I might have to sell the bungalow and start a new Tuesday tradition. Anyone got a spare $ 7.5 million?

This is probably the closest place to where I live that I can grab a bit so I go here pretty often. Food is fantastic, I would suggest so many different dishes… Tortilla Soup is full of flavor, their Sweet Tea is like no other, and they have some great Margaritas. Food is a bit pricy but it is about the same price as most of the places a few blocks north in the overpriced Bishop Arts area… you will get more bang for your buck here. Service has always been good to decent, nothing too special. They get the job done. Really I would give them a 3.5 out of 5 though(rounded up to a 4 just because the food truly is amazing, avoid the Tex-Mex and get one of their seafood dishes, that is their speciality). The reason for docking 1 – 1.5 star is the Take Out. Take Out is quickly made and they also always include chips with salsa, which is awesome! However they almost always mess up with take out orders. Exanokes are giving me unsweet tea instead of sweet tea, cold tortilla soup near closing, the wrong type of enchiladas, etc. Almost every time I get take-out I have to come back and get something fixed. Basically, eat in or check your take out before you leave.

I last ate at La Calle Doce on 12th Street 10 years ago and I suddenly recall why it’s been so long. It wasn’t good then and it’s not good now. Mexican Food? Yum! Seafood? Yes! Together? Hmmmmm… I have to admit I’m a bit picky on that one. And to be completely fair… I know a lot of folks who like this place. A small group of us met up for dinner and drinks. While I ended up not ordering a cocktail, several had the house margarita which was well like. The chips and salsa here are bit different with thicker chips and two kinds of salsa: red and green. The green salsa is forgettable and I prefer the spicier red salsa myself. Most entrees at dinner are served with fish soup. Wasn’t feeling it. The last time I was here, I had the Tilapia which I hated. This time I opted for the Plato Combinacion, which has fries, shrimp, and catfish. Boring? Sure. The fish and shrimp were alright but the fries were quite soggy. The mariachi band here is fun but the service is forgettable. And forgetful. I think we had to ask for everything twice. Prices are steep but to be fair, the entrees are quite large. While I’m not a fan, I know some Unilocalers enjoy La Calle Doce. It was 10 years since my last visit and my next visit is probably another 10 years away.

I went here for the second time last night. I love their chips and salsa, and the food comes really fast! I got the #9(I think that’s the right number) it comes with a chicken flauta and enchilada. Very good! Their margarita’s are a little sour compared to others.

So me &2 of my friends are here to have dinner & of course we checked in on Unilocal.I’m a regular here & usually come after work for happy hour. Well when u check in on Unilocal it automatically gives u $ 1 house Margarita for their appreciation. Well the manager Jesus Sanchez advised us that they will no longer honor this perk! Hubby and I shared the Parrillada de Mariscos, which had shrimp, calamari and fish with onions and peppers and rice and beans on the side. The meal had the option of serving for one two or three. We got the two and it came with two cups of the cod soup to start with. It was really delicious. Great flavor, not too salty, not too heavy. The calamari on the entrée was in strips that tasted rubbery that seemed like they might have come from a bag :(We had enough to take home. I showed the server my house margarita Unilocal check in special with the check but she refused to honor it saying it was too late. Everywhere else I have been can change it after the fact but oh well.

I love the idea of La Calle Doce. Once a year or so we decide we want to eat there. Apparently I don’t like Mexican Seafood as much as I think I do. Yes it’s good, but I can never decide what I want. Paella, paella always sounds good to me. Why do I think I want paella? I don’t like it. Yet I sit eating this concoction of rice, fish, and meat thinking why didn’t I just order fish tacos. Now the dish itself is pretty tasty, I just don’t love it. They do have some dang good margaritas and the ceviche is pretty tasty as well. I guess I need to go again, next year, and try to decide on something other than paella. As far as this location goes the service is always great and I’ve never had to wait long for a table. They do have a small patio for those nice evenings when you want to sit outside.

I came here for a birthday gathering. It was my first time. I must say the service was excellent considering how large our group was… probably close to 35 or 40 with one gentleman taking the orders. The food came out quickly and hot. They just lost me on the flavor profile. I had a simple dish — chicken fajitas. But they were very un-tasty. Tortillas were fresh I think made in house. The tortilla chips were not very good to me. Based on this experience I will not come back. I will stick with a Gloria’s or Luna de Noche over this.
