WoW what an experience!!! Terrible! Everytime I ordered something the waitress said we do not have that! After the third item the manager on duty came and ask how things we rev LoL! I said well if we could get what we ordered it would be. After telling him items we wanted he suggested we may be in the wrong restaurants! REALLY??? To top it al off one of my party got Quesidillas!!! He found a wire bag tie in the middle??? The manager just said we are sorry!!! Nothing was done at all??? Will be last time I ever go there!

My friend and I ate here on a Tuesday night, the service was incredible and the manager came by twice to check on us. I ordered the steak fajitas, and the meat was so chewy that I wasn’t able to eat it. I’m giving them four stars because even without the beef, my fajitas were great.

Not a fan. I always see people check in on social media. I’ve ate at several different locations and I’ve decided I’m just not a fan. I don’t care for neither the thickness of their chips nor their queso and salsa. I had the shrimp brocheta. It was good but not worth coming back here to eat again. I had a mambo taxi. ok and a skinny margarita. I’ve had them before but tonight must be an off night for the bartender, or perhaps it’s this location. Service was great, restaurant was clean, therefore I will give this restaurant a three star. My friend had the Ernies chicken and said that it is better in Oklahoma! Perhaps it was an off night for the chef as well…

I enjoy the food(hence 3 stars), but I can’t eat there again until the restaurant sanitation is addressed properly by management. I have loved MCrowd restaurants for almost 20 years, but the Lakewood MiCocina location isn’t up to the same standards. I eat there at minimum one time per week and in the past month or two the dishes, glassware and flatware have been dirty. I request new flatware, glassware, and dishes – only for the second sets to be dirty as well, covered in a film of leftover food from the last user. On my last visit I was told that the dishwasher is broken. This is a health issue that must be addressed. On that same visit, the front walkway leading to the entrance was littered with trash and candy wrappers. I mentioned this to the hostesses only to see blank stares in return. By the time I left around 2:30 in the afternoon – though they were slow – the walkway still had not been addressed. I called the office in Irving and left a message with Katherine/Katarina, and still haven’t heard from them. The following day I submitted an online comment through their website and have yet to receive a response.

We went for lunch today. Although I’ve been here hudreds of times since it changed from Matts, the service today was absolutely terrible. We didn’t even get waited on with chips and salsa for at least 10 minutes. It was a beautiful day so we wanted to eat on the patio which turned out to be a major mistake. I had my daughter, granddaughter and a close family friend with me and I talked them into going to MiCocina I was embarrassed of the service we received. We didn’t even get acknowledged for a good 10 minutes. When we finally received our drinks, they were wrong. I am going to spare you the list of all the things that went wrong. All in all it was a very UNENJOYABLE lunch. The food and drinks were good when we finally got them and our order was finally right but I don’t think I have had such terrible service before. My grand daughter ate her salad dry. How long does it take to bring dressing??? Mind you, they were NOT crowded and even the manager didn’t seem to care. He didn’t apologize or offer anything. Will not be going back to this location until under new management! As we were waiting to be checked out(which took 20 min. They said computer problems) 2 other couples walked out of the restaurant. They said they had been sitting at a table inside for 15 minutes without any service. Big problem here.

I have always liked Mi Cocina, but had never tried this location. The wife and I were going to a concert downtown, so we stopped in on the way there. It was very crowded, but we were told to go up stairs and got a seat right away. Waitress was great, wish I remembered her name. Food was great and of course a mambo taxi is always amazing. Would recommend and come back again for sure.

Wow! I have never had such dry enchiladas in my entire life. These were almost of the inedible sort. I ordered the standard enchiladas clasicas in a variety of 3 flavors and they were all dry and tasteless. The queso appetizer was good, but the salsa tastes like ketchup. The drinks and service here are great, who doesn’t love the mambo taxi, but the food was inexcusable. Hopefully it was just a bad day.

The night that we were there was disappointing. We have been to other locations and always have had positive experiences. However, this was not one of them. We went to the Lakewood location because of their amazing patio. I am not sure what was the problem last night, but the service was subpar at best. We saw people having to get their own water, silverware and one table even had to track a waiter down to pay their bill.

This place is AWESOME!!! Great food! Great environment!!! Great patio(which is what I’m all about :)!!!) Our waiter was attentive and sweet! They were extremely busy(on a Friday at 6:30p) but he still made us his priority. The hosts were very nice and told us there would be a 30 min. wait and they sat us within 20 min. I ordered the two seasoned beef tacos with a margarita(whoa best margaritas! I highly recommend the frozen strawberry one). Overall, I had an amazing experience! The bill was a little high for two tacos and a drink but I guess that’s Texas for ya!

It is best for happy hour. $ 5 mambos and appetizers. Get there early or sit upstairs because it turns into a day care center downstairs

Mi Cocina is a nice looking restaurant. The interior décor is very well done(really enjoyed the paintings on the walls and the view outside the windows) and the lighting is perfect. However, the place is overall very loud and not very conducive for conversations/dates,(possibly because of our large party) and the food is honestly about average. We arrived at the restaurant on a Friday evening with a reservation for 17 people(yes, a large party. It was a birthday dinner for two of our friends). After the last people arrived, it took about 20 – 30 min before order was actually taken. We were provided chips and salsa as pass time, which was very generous of them, but the chips were really bland without the salsa and the salsa itself was so-so as well. Well, by the time we ordered and got our food, I’ve had so much chips/salsa that I only had room for a bowl of soup. I ordered the chicken soup with rice(bowl). The cups here are fairly small, so I definitely recommend the bowl for the soups. It was not bad, but nothing special. There were a couple pieces of cut up chicken in my soup, but most of the soup was occupied by rice. The chicken pieces I had didn’t really add much to the dish itself… only some chewy texture at best(I couldn’t taste anything in the chicken). The flavor of the soup was not bad. I did enjoy consuming the bowl. Perhaps I ordered the wrong dish at this restaurant, but I really thought it was mediocre. My feelings were reciprocated from my two friends who ordered fish tacos and some fajitas. They both conveyed feelings of disappointment with their food, agreeing with me that the food here is only average at best. On the plus side, the dessert we had was phenomenal. It was a chocolate cake of some sort(did not order it myself… but I had a bite of my friend’s). Very moist and delicious. Not sure how much it costed or what the name of it is, but I would say that was probably the best part of the meal. In all, Mi Cocina is a NICE place. However, the loudness of the place, the average quality of food, and the slow service(again, possibly due to our large party) really killed the experience for me. If you are looking for a cool Tex Mex place and don’t care too much about the«name» or the«fanciness» of things, I would suggest elsewhere(there are MANY better/cheaper tex mex places around).

Clean, spacious, and bright. My best friend, a Dallas native, only takes me to the Lakewood location when I visit her and Mi Co Lakewood keeps it consistent. I went last year and most recently this past weekend and loved it. The brisket tacos are amazing and their green rice is so good too. Great for family dinners and/or lunches. The only reason why I did not give 5 stars is because although the food is stellar, it is not THE best mouth watering Mexican I’ve had but I have no complaints otherwise. I love Mi Co and make sure I go whenever I visit Dallas!

Great local hot spot in Lakewood. Mi Cocina is a Tex-Mex staple in Dallas, so it is always a favorite for me. The Lakewood location tends to be really loud because a lot of families with small children done here. If you are looking for a younger vibe, go to the Mi Cocina in West Village, as this is definitely more for families. The patio is really nice when it isn’t too hot. Service is usually pretty good, but sometimes you get a bad waiter. I got the Quincenera Salad last time and was greatly disappointed because it basically had nothing on it. I will stick with the fajitas :)

I wish I had had a sit-down experience here(because the patio scene does look fantastic), but I actually phoned in an order for a friend(an entrée and two side dips). I arrived 15 minutes after my call to find out that the entrée order was never placed in the kitchen. Now it’s been 40 minutes total and I’ve checked with the desk twice. They were unapologetic at all and simply said, «I’ll bring it to you when it’s ready.» I kind of hoped that would be the case anyway since I’m sitting only ten feet away… I hear thedrinks here are good, but don’t expect wonderful service.
What’s up with all the bad reviews of Mi Cocina? Just because Mi Cocina is a chain doesn’t mean we should hate it. I think it’s a great addition to Lakewood. This location is one of my go-to spots when it’s patio weather. I can always count on Mi Cocina’s patio for good atmosphere, food(brisket anything, Tacos Mi Tierra, Rico Salad are my favorites), and dog friendliness. I’ve taken my Goldendoodle here several times and each time the staff shows him extra love. I’d agree that there is a lot of good Tex-Mex in Dallas, but Mi Cocina shouldn’t be discounted just because there are other locations.

Wow has this place gone downhill. Entrees were cold and the service was half-ass. If you’re not there to drink with friends it’s not worth it. There are too many better choices. Or try their other locations.

As I scanned the Unilocal reviews for this Mi Cocina location, I was shocked. People are teeing off on this place for some strange reasons. I showed up for lunch and got one of the specials — the brisket quesadillas. They were tender and tasty. Although they came with BBQ sauce, I thought they tasted better with the salsa intended for my chips. The mambo taxi is an amazing beverage invention. It’s a snowball of frozen margarita floating in a glass of sangria. This is the Reese’s peanut butter cup of booze — two great tastes that come together in perfect harmony. Service was excellent — very attentive and kind. Yes, maybe it’s a little more expensive than the ramshackle slums that churn out tacos of questionable origin, but you can’t fault Mi Cocina for offering good food and good service.

Since moving to town a month ago, I have heard from many different people in different settings that this place is the best Tex Mex in Dallas. I went in Irving with co-workers for lunch and it was good, so we decided to try this one with my in-laws. It was OK. Good food, but nothing memorable for me. We went on a Friday night and it was packed shoulder to shoulder while we waited 25 minutes for our drinks at the bar. It also took about an hour and 10 minutes for our table after being told by the hostess it would be about a half hour. The slow service at the bar was annoying but I won’t hold the wait time against them, as we caught them at their peak time. It also would be really nice if they could do something about the noise level. I’m sure I’ll be back to a Mi Cocina again in another part of town, and I’m hoping that I’m more impressed.
