Good quality American style Chinese food. Ingredients are fresh. Food has good flavor. I come here often for quick meals, take out, or large orders for parties. It’s better than Panda. If you are looking for Chinese food for an American palate, this is the place to go.

Pros: good food, decent price, food came out quick but they were empty so maybe that’s why? They have a covered patio, the lunch specials(until 3pm) come with a good amount of food. Cons: some servers are rude and make you feel like your inconveniencing them by having to serve u. Our server ate with other employees at a giant round table in the middle of the restaurant and talked on her phone.(This was while she was on the clock, after she dropped off our food) I was afraid to ask for a drink refill because I didn’t want to interrupt her meal!!!(See pic) ***UPDATE ****** Alright so I went back to this place cuz the foods good and I love the tea, most of all the amount of food u get for the price. Anyways, omg story short the server with I think was the same women as last time– was eating at this same table again lol I’m not even kidding, after she took our order(we check she always acts annoyed to even be doing) n she went and sat down with some of the cooks and ate lol smh! And then once the bill came *****had a great experience this time with a friendly server. Employees still ate, as I guess everyone’s lunch time is the same but I suggest they get a good break room to eat in like most establishments. Something unattractive about watching your server eat next to you…

Delish food. Loved the bbq pork fried rice! Not to mention the BEST egg drop soup I’ve ever had! Great portion size for a date :) also the ambiance is delightful and I love the service here. Very personal and quaint. Indeed I enjoyed my visit.

I came here right before they closed with a coupon and of course they took me in! I dined in and service was great(granted I was the only one there). I ordered the hot and sour soup, a Sapporo, and the spicy garlic beef. The entrée does come breaded which was really sad. I was disappointed in the food. Nothing tastes home made. I could have gotten food from the frozen section at trader joes and had t taste just as good. Very disappointing. I hope they redo their menu…

I took a phone order last night for a large party. Not only was the meal ready in 30 minutes, Kathy was super helpful and very accommodating! I highly recommend… the orange chicken was superb, made with real oranges, vegetable tofu, chicken cashew, brown rice… ALLDELICIOUS!!! Very kind!!!

The Korean black noodles here are really big in portion and their sweet & sour pork dish is pretty good. I’m not a fan of Chinese food but I like their dishes.

I usually order to go from the lunch special. The prices are great and the portions are more than enough. I’ve only eaten in the actual restaurant about three times. On my most recent time the server gave us sriracha and it was brown. We asked for a new one and she got it for us, but the fact that they even still had it makes you question how old the other sauces and are. The food took quite some time to be served, but it was delicious.

I hate giving 1 star, and I’m very supportive of small businesses. Because everything was so bad, and I saw that it was a 4 star, I felt I should share my experience. Poor customer service. No one greeted us, we sat ourselves. I felt like we interrupted the staff, by our presence. For the price, I rather have gone anywhere else. The meat was very low quality. Chicken and beef were rubbery, and there was hardly any meat in the pineapple fried rice. I will never go back, there are so many other restaurants that I rather support.

Back to Brown Rice Restaurant Again! I ordered Heaven Chicken and it tasted just like last time I visit! Great job! Service was good! Two waitresses worked so hard! They have to manage money handling phone order, pack the take out, register, service dine-in, thank customer by visiting(I saw twice in the night time, elders with walkers in the busy hour around 7pm) and welcome customer. At last, I would like to share whoever wants to come in the future… usually service from the restaurant is «OK» in busy hours(I believe every restaurant is the same, just don’t expect Excellent and Great services) Therefore, I have nothing to complain! P. S. I decided to add one more star to 5 stars 1 mins ago. Reason, the youngest waitress(don’t kno her name) opened the entrance door two times to «elders»! She smiled to customers and asked to return next time visit! Next, she helped phone orders and tables. I respected how she treated her customers!

I saw that this had better than most reviews so I decided to go eat here. My boyfriend ordered the Szechuan chicken lunch special and I ordered the regular Kung Pao chicken and yang chow fried rice. Firstly, the service was decent. The server/receptionist was nice to us and attentive. But there was a time when she came over and took one of our drinks for a refill and we didn’t see it come back until six minutes later. I got a little annoyed but it wasn’t that big of a deal. When the food came out, it was piping hot and very good portion sizes. The flavor on my fried rice was actually good, it wasn’t too greasy and not overly salty or anything. The one complaint I’ve got to make is that the shrimp were not cleaned properly so I ended up wasting two out of the six or seven that came. The other two dishes, however, were really sad in terms of Chinese food. It was the typical, throw together meat and vegetables and some kind of brown sauce kind of food. Both chicken dishes had some sort of minced up chicken that was chewy and fat and I found a small sliver of bone in one of the pieces I was eating. I was extremely disappointed by the quality of food because it was below even average and the menu items aren’t cheap, mind you. I won’t be eating here again.

You know it’s terrible when a packaged fortune cookie has more flavor than their food. I dare the kitchen or owner to try their creations. B-L-A-N-D. Service and food was disappointing. Never once did server come around to ask how everything was. It’s so disappointing I had to take 10min to hopefully warn a fellow Unilocaler not to look twice here. It’s a wonder how this place is still running. Looked for quick place to grab lunch for 2 on Tuesday afternoon. REDFLAG #1: Empty restaurant during lunch hour other than one elderly couple. REDFLAG #2: Server wasn’t accommodating. I asked for«Lunch menu number 18» while pointing at the Menu because I wasn’t familiar with the pronunciation. Despite turning the menu towards her and continuing to press my finger on the dish I asked for, she impatiently asked what the dish was. I grew incredibly annoyed with this service and continued to point at menu — at this point I would’ve walked but partner was on time crunch. ORDERED: Szechuan beef, Garlic chicken, salads, wonton soup($ 1 extra) FOOD: Salad — some sort of vinaigrette dressing(?) poor execution of citrus At least that’s what it seemed like they were going for. smelled like cleaning supply fragrance to me. Wonton soup — tastes like instant phở broth which I’m sure it was. Bulk of flavor depended on salt. Haven’t even tasted the wontons once I looked at green onions. They were not cut uniformly which is quite telling of the kitchen’s dedication(green onions not a big deal but this is where I’m certain food will be mediocre). Wonton — YUCKY/hard/cakey/excessive flour. Absolutely no meat/veggies. Bit into wonton and spit it out immediately YUCK what a disgusting feeling in my mouth. Judging by empty restaurant and unaccommodating server I knew better than my partner than to order wonton soup. *alright maybe we can overlook salad/wonton soup and hold judgment until we try the main course since they have 4stars?* Brown rice — served on individual large platter which pleased me. Beef and chicken order on separate platters had large spoons made sharing easier. Love when restaurants do this. At this point I’m reconsidering my judgment. When platters came it was hard to distinguish between Garlic can Szechuan. No apparent scents or visible minced/chopped garlic or indication of sautéed pepper on Szechuan plate. Server briefly mentioned which dish was which. She really doesn’t like her job. Garlic chicken– bland/NO taste of garlic whatsoever. Took closer look at veggies and seasonings. All they did was throw in chopped garlic which failed to add flavor. Mushrooms were overdone. Carrots were hard. Broccoli barely passed the fresh mark. If you told me I was eating Garlic chicken I would be shocked. Disappointing and sad. Some mushrooms were cold. Szechuan beef– bland imbalance of sweet/sour and soy sauce. Just bland. I could taste green pepper more than anything else on the plate. Server never came to the table to make sure everything was going well. Not once. Wow. If time was on our side we would’ve walked out or brought this to manager’s attention. Unfortunately we finished the meal to get it over with and paid my hard earned money. Tipped minimum because it’s the right thing to do. Throughout meal, We discussed why it was empty during LUNCHHOUR. Partner said perhaps location. Too close to homes where most ppl r at work. Nowhere near schools/foot traffic. ValleyView is dominant area. Probably have 4star bc they do free brown rice and Delivery.

Nothing too special about this place. To be fair, my parents love this place as they live right around the corner and apparently it is a «healthier» Chinese food option. I’ve been a few times with them now and everything is just pretty decent. The place seems to cater to the American taste-buds as the flavor combinations are pretty basic. I have to dump chili paste on almost anything to give it some spice and flavor. We usually order the orange chicken, shrimp chow mein, mongolian beef, won ton soup, among others. The atmosphere is clean but a bit sad in a way. It’s a big space that’s never more than half full. There is a huge TV, which I believe detracts from the ambiance, since it is so large and it was on a strange channel from what I remember. The price is on point as you can get away from this place for around $ 50 – 60 for a family of 5. But again, the quality is nothing to write home about. I don’t think there are many other options in the area, so if you’re craving Chinese food, this could do the trick. Just don’t expect too much.

My family and I Unilocaled some Chinese places and this came up with good reviews. We happened to be nearby so we stopped for a bite to eat. When we went into the place it was extremely dark and empty. The hostess assured us that it gets busier at night and more people would come in. We ordered the 3 meal family dinner. It came with 3 egg soups, 3 wontons, and 3 potstickers. The main courses were orange chicken, garlic shrimp and Mongolian beef. Everything was really good but the orange chicken was kinda dry. 4 stars for good service and quick timing but minus a start for how dark it was and the dry chicken.

Very good Chinese food here. I ordered the Pineapple dinner portion for $ 12.95 and it was big enough for two. Since I was alone I took half home with me for lunch tomorrow. The service was great, came by and checked up on me several times. It’s great to see no MSG garbage in Chinese food for once, especially in a working class neighborhood. Anyway they have a great menu with good prices and excellent tasting food. I’ll definitely come back here.

Not real authentic but it will do. Not sure why its called Brown Rice. Had the shrimp appetizer, not bad. Tangsu Pork wasn’t bad either. Can’t say I like it but can’t say it’s bad. The plate they serve my food on had scripture, ya that’s right a scripture from Proverbs 3:5. Check out my photo lol.

PETPEEVE: Whhhhyyyyy is your Restaurant NAMED, BROWNRICE and yet I have to Pay $ 2 more for… WAITFORIT… BROWNRICE??? WTH??? Ok, other than that… the food Is good, tasty… friendly staff and such. TIPTOSAVEYOUTHEFRUSTRATION I’VEENCOUNTEREDLITERALLY4TIMES: Please check your bag for utensils and any sauces and such! They do Not automatically include these items and it can be frustrating when you open your bag to eat and they are not there wahhh. MAINPOINT: Go there for the«healthier» side of Chinese food but be prepared for the minor«cautions» above because the food Is good. Note that I have only had their entrees which were all for take-out(twice a month for the last year) but I always can only eat half of it(and Yes! I have a huge appetite) so that could account for the higher prices– the fact that they give you a Lot of food… which great. No small, Panda Express portions here!

So excited that I found another good Chinese restaurant in my area. I was searching on Unilocal for a place that could deliver because I was feeling under the weather and wanted soup. I placed my order at 9:30pm for delivery, the food was at my doorstep right at 10:00 pm! They deliver with a minimum order of $ 15& delivery charge is $ 3.00. The site says estimated delivery time is 45 – 60 minutes, but I had my food sooner, which was great! I ordered Egg Drop soup, Hot & Sour soup, Veggie Chow Mein, Orange Chicken, and Salt & Pepper Pork Chops. The soups were good, veggie chow mein was loaded with veggies, the pork chops were some of the best that I’ve tasted from a Chinese restaurant & the orange chicken was all white meat! Sweet! Brown Rice is definitely being added to my list of places to order from when I want my food delivered. If you’re ordering food for delivery & paying with credit card, make sure to tip ahead because their receipts don’t have a tip line :*(
