MADDOGZHASCLOSED– Update on my previous review, went there hankering for their awesome dogs for lunch just now and found out they’ve closed for business. The place was awesome and I’m sad to see it go. It is turning into a taco and torta shop. I might try the new place depending on reviews but I had memories of so many good hot dogs here that it’s a bit disheartening. Updating the review to let everyone else know. Hopefully they will reopen someplace but it could be doubtful…

3 burgers and fries $ 26. The burgers were pretty good. The fries were normal, but at least fresh and cooked well. I’m going to have to try something else. Somebody had some blue cheese fries and I’m like, Why didn’t I try that?

I really love this place. The burgers are amazing honestly just the best in LA. I know that they are famous for their hot dogs but their hamburgers are really good and juicy.

I really, really want to give this place 5 stars. The food and the prices were great. However, the awful service forced me to give this 2 stars. I went on a Saturday afternoon, and was surprised to find that I was the only customer there. There was no one present at the counter for a few minutes to take my order, so I rang the bell. I then had my order taken by a girl(the employee with facial piercings) who seemed completely uninterested in her job and bothered by the fact that I was there. I ordered a vegetarian hot dog and onion rings, and sat to wait for them. The order took a bit longer than I would expect since I was the only one there. Then, when I got home, I discovered that one of the toppings that I ordered was missing from my hot dog. I’m not sure how you can take such time to cook the food and then mess it up — especially when I was the ONLY customer there. The food itself was decent — I was pleasantly surprised at how good the vegetarian hot dog tasted, and the onion rings were big and crispy. The prices were great, and I would love to go back to try more food, but I cannot bring myself to face such apathy from that employee ever again, nor do I want to risk getting another messed up order.

Soggy mess. The Chicago dog I had bears little resemblance to the gem found in the Windy City. It was heaped with giant chunks of tasteless tomato, and about ½ a cup of relish. By the time I got back to the office, the entire bun was soggy and everything fell apart. It was cold and the dog didn’t snap. I’d forgive them for it not staying hot if it tasted good, but it didn’t. I’d give it 1 star, but I added an extra one because the girl taking orders was nice.

Best hot dog place I’ve been to by far… I’m not a big fan of hot dogs to begin with but they are amazing here. It is a definite must try for anyone.

I’ve passed by Mad Dogz many times, and have finally got the time to stop by and grab a bite to eat! I’m really happy I did, as their food is pretty good. Definitely quick service, and adequate seating outside. Perfect for those sunny days! I ordered a Chicago dog with Onion Rings. A solid hot dog with lots of toppings. Oddly enough, their relish seems a bit radiated as it’s super bright/neon green. But… it still tastes good! The onion rings are a bit on the oily side. They don’t look like it, but when you bite into them, you’ll understand. Good crunch, and very juicy~ ;) I definitely want to come back to try more of their hot dogs!

Solid 3.5 stars for me, but since my fiancé loves hot dogs I’ll round up to 4. Let me preface this with saying that I’m not a huge hot dog person. Never do I wake up and say, «Hmm, I feel like eating a hot dog today.»(Get your minds out of the gutter you dirty dirty people). However, that’s not to say that I don’t enjoy hot dogs when I do have them. However, my fiancé LOVES hot dogs. I think he would live at Pinks if he could. So after reading the reviews here I was excited to see what he thought. I got the chili cheese dog and he got the fire dog. We split an order of garlic fries. The chili cheese dog was pretty good! The chili was flavorful, but I wish the bun hadn’t split on me the second I picked up my hot dog. I had to knife and fork it like a princess so that I wouldn’t get chili all over myself. The garlic fries were really good! Lots of garlic flavor on shoe string fries. I still favor the garlic fries at Dodger stadium, but these are a good substitute if I’m really craving garlic fries and I don’t want to submit myself to watching the Dodgers lose in person. The fiancé seemed to enjoy his fire dog thoroughly. Pretty good! I would say it’s better than pinks because the dogs are good, there is no line, there is convenient parking(parking structure on Cardiff is free for 2 hours), and it’s close to our condo. However, the fiancé would still choose Pinks over Mad Dogz. He just has too many memories there to move onto an obviously superior hot dog joint =P

What a great local find. Thanks Unilocalers! We were on our way to In N Out when we saw this little place on Venice. Decided to forego the long lines and parking headache at In N Out — great decision! Place looks new and very clean and well-kept. The skinny garlic fries and onion rings were very tasty and not greasy. I ordered the cheeseburger with cheddar, no onions, easy mayo and it was perfection; a bit bigger than the In N Out cheeseburger and certainly very juicy. My husband loved his grilled hot dog with mustard, onions and relish. It was split down the middle just as he likes. Really just a solid place. This is a great little burger/hot dog joint and we’ll certainly be back!

For a such small place, I never thought it was going to be as good as it really is. They have the Chicago dog, which I haven’t eaten since I was in Chicago. Made just like it! Had the peppers and celery salt just like how I remembered. I was impressed. Their vegetarian dog had me at awe too. THATWASGOOD. Anything vegetarian when it comes to hot dogs never impressed me, but Mad Dogz’ did! Very fresh ingredients! Very affordable. Hot dogs are a perfect size. And service is awesome. These«mad dogz» are only«mad» cuz I haven’t visited sooner! Consider me a loyal costumer now. YUM.

I was working in the area for the day near Culver Blvd and Main, and was in need of lunch. I came to realize that there are so many places to eat in the area, even within a 1 mile radius. I wanted something quick, but different than the usual fast food/quick service restaurants. So I sought the assistance of Unilocal. It seems like Mad Dogz is just through the alleyway near the parking garage. On the first visit, I had the Bacon Cheeseburger and fries. It was really good! Burger was juicy, and bacon had the perfect crisp. The fries were not greasy at all. Since I liked the burger so much, I took a menu knowing that I will be back one day to try the hot dog. Visit 2: I ordered the LA Street Dog and Onion Rings. The bacon-wrapped hot dog, topped with grilled onions and peppers was tasty. I enjoyed the onion rings very much. If I had a choice of Hot Dog vs Burger from here, I’d definitely choose the Burger, with a side of Onion Rings, please…

Great place, here’s why: –Free parking on the side of the building –Have veggie, turkey, chicken, and beef dogs –I had the chili/coleslaw hot dog and substituted meat with veggie and it was incredible. The chili and coleslaw surprisingly complimented each other in a perfect balance. –The fries weren’t greasy and they had tapatio and seasoned salt on hand. –Enough seating –Fun music that wasn’t overpowering –Right near the downtown Culver City Farmer’s Market on Tuesdays(added bonus) –Under $ 10 –Hot dog was a good size –Better than Five Guys and the DogTown food truck any day of the week.

Ya know, some times I feel like a wiener and in need of a wiener in a bun! I found this place via Unilocal(yee!!). I was a little happy to check out this joint because when I looked at the menu… I saw so many wieners from different cities! Its located on Venice next to a Subway. If you drive too fast E on Venice, you might pass it by. I park next to the restaurant but I’m not sure if its THEIR parking lot, probably not. So hurry up and get your dog and leave. Otherwise, there are parking meters on Venice blvd OR park at the parking structure near by. If you plan on eating in, you will see bar seating(chairs are high — for me) in the front. I’ve eaten so far: –LA Street dog(bacon wrapped dog with grilled onions, jalapeño peppers, and chipotle mayo). –The Seattle(grilled Kosher dog with cream cheese and Sriracha sauce on a toasted bun) –The New Yorker(steamed natural dog with sauerkraut, red onion sauce and spicy brown mustard) –Onion rings –Fries I’ve tried the above dogs in order and as of right now, my top dog is the LA Street Dog! I guess you can say I like bacon wrapped dogs with the grilled onlons and a kick from the jalapenos. The Seattle was a little disappointing because I love Sriracha and cream cheese so I thought both together would make my mouth dance happy but… I think it needed more Sriracha sauce. Lastly, the New Yorker can stay in NY. I liked the sauerkraut because I could taste the tangy & bitterness from the vinegar but I wasn’t feeling the hotdog as a whole. The onion rings and fries were ok. The staff is friendly and food is prepared in good time. Next time I go back, I’ll try the Chicago dog. But yeah, I really liked this place and would suggest it if you are on Venice blvd and feeling a wiener. Sorry it took me long to write this review =) but I’ll be back!

I ordered a Chicago dog, because I love Chicago dogs. On the menu, it clearly states peppers and celery salt which are required for the Chicago dog. Well, they provided neither! I had to ask for the peppers! That’s insane to me! A Chicago dog without peppers and celery salt! Insane! I’m from Chicago for Christ’s sake and I need my peppers and celery salt on my Chicago dog. If there aren’t peppers and celery salt it’s not a Chicago dog. It’s nothing! Also, I ordered cheese fries. The fries were good, but the cheese wasn’t melted. Are you kidding me?! Cheese fries with a handful of unmelted, shredded cheese?! I understand that they usually put the cheese on top of hot chili, but I didn’t get chili so melt my damn cheese, please. Insane. Nevertheless I love hot dogs and will be back again and again.

This place is near my work, and after many years in the same area, you start to hope for new options. Mad Dogz is a welcome change, not entirely a greasy hole in the wall(though delicious in the same ways) and also not a 90-minute-minimum douchey ripoff like some neighboring joints are. I have only ever ordered the turkey California burger, as I can’t imagine liking anything better. The food doesn’t come out in a flash, but that’s because it’s cooked to order. If you can’t wait for that, there’s a Rally’s down the way with TWODRIVETHRUS, unleash your inner impatience and tear that place up!

Was very excited to try this place. I was on my way to Father’s Office when I had a sudden craving for a chili dog. Did a Unilocal seach and found this place with Unilocalers raving. Ordered a chili dog with slaw. Took a solid 7 – 8 minutes to get my dog — don’t understand that at all because there was no one in front of me in line. It was pretty tasty but tiny at $ 4. see pic: Carney’s is still king IMO and even Tommy’s is better.

Hmmmmmmm, Mad Dogz! Yes, yes, yes! Seems like a few years back there was a boom of cupcake places. Now, hotdogs is the fad. I’ve never really been a trend setter(or follower for that matter!), but I’m gonna follow this place cuz the dogs are super yum! Discovered it a few weeks back when my coworkers and I were strolling through the Culver City Farmer’s Market on Tuesday afternoons. The menu was creative, but not too overwhelming… can’t stand when there is way too much to choose from and you can’t make up your mind. I got the slaw dog. For someone who just recently discovered she likes coleslaw, this dog was goooood! The picture might look a little gooey, but it was the right amount of slaw and other condiments, on a decent size dog. Not overly stuffed, but I felt satisfied and it made a good meal. The menu looked good so my coworkers and I will certainly be back to try some other stuff. Seating is all outdoors(covered) so it’s nice on a warm day. Parking can be tricky, but you can always park in the nearby structure — it’s free for the first 2 hours.

This place is great. Order L.A. Street Dog — 5 Star Chili Cheese Fries — 5 Star Chicago Dog — 4 Star Regular Fries — 10 Stars Ordering was a snap and the food was finished fast. Paid with a credit card. Everything was great and left feeling full and satisfied. I live in Downtown so I know my L.A. Street Dogs, and this one Bomb! Hands down best Fries I have had in Culver City to date. Deff worth checking this place out! I have been told the Burgers and the Philly Cheese-steak are also great choices. Looking forward to going back to try more!

Been waiting for this place to open! So not worth my excitement! Long wait because the server is slow taking your order! My LA dog hardly had any bacon and the bread was a complete mess. The bottom was super hard and the top soggy! The bfs California burger was ok but not worth the $ 7 go to in n out instead! The only redeemable thing was the fries but not worth the trip just for that! Overall, l I miss Phil’s Place!
