Yes, if the sign on the Culver City location’s door is accurate, Chop Daddy’s is indeed closed. Really too bad, as their Sweet Tater Tots were the best in the West.

Super impressed. Staff was very nice and the tator tots were de-lish-us. I ordered the sandwich that comes with mac n cheese inside and it was so amazing I gobbled it up in minutes. I’d love to return in the near future.

This place isn’t closed… they just recently moved from Abbot Kinney to Culver. Love their pulled pork grilled cheese and tater tots for when I need some yummy, warm, comfort food.

Wayyll sheeyooot, in the vicious tournament of independent barbeque in L.A., seems Chop Daddy’s has finally been chopped, smoked and sent to the big rack in the sky. But not before having a whirlwinde run at a tiny, tidy shop on Abbot Kinney, then re-locating to Culver. Maybe the credit card statement showing«Belly Up» as their merchant name was an omen and eventually jinxed the business. Who knows. What I do know is, quite a few customers agreed they did some alright ‘que. «Chop Tots» was the thing to get– cubes of brisket and gravy blanketing tater tots. Because I didn’t want a full sandwich nor get my fingers too messy. It was fun, different, tasty, very tender beef and not overly sauced. Isn’t it irritating when barbeque meats are drowned in sauce? Just the right amount and you could really taste the wonderfully done brisket. I once even met Eric, the Man with the Pork Belly plan. He stood there serving, sharing history of how this all came about, how his eatz caught an investor’s attention, and how much he loves bbq and creating recipes. Don’t trust a skinny cook, right? Says he was trying to cut down on fried pickle consumption because he gained 20 lbs. Eric and the workers were chill, friendly and generous with sample bites. So long, Chop Daddy’s.

a tad bit expensive, but it’s BBQ so expected. The pig out plate was great, the chopped brisket was great. Also had the qubano sandwich, that was also very good. Not a big place, and has outdoor seating which is always nice.

I almost got a(presumably) tasty pulled chicken sandwich here tonight, but they were… out of chicken? At 4:36pm on a Friday night? How in the hell does that even happen? Once the girl up front figured out how to change my order, I went with the chopped brisket sandwich, which I kinda feel like they should have given me for the same price since they didn’t have something as basic as chicken in stock. Since I arrived during happy hour my sandwich came with one free side, so I went with the baked BBQ beans. The sandwich had some good flavors going on, all of which were nicely sopped up by the moist brioche bun. The meat was a little on the dry side, though, and the sauce that was mentioned in the sandwich description was sadly lacking. It was less like they poured on sauce and more like they sort of let the two components brush past each other. Luckily, the cole slaw on top added some extra moisture to prevent this from being a desert. Beans were great; meaty, thick and delicious. I also got a tiny surprise in the form of a minute chocolate chip cookie. Good grub for the price but, guys, come on, next time make sure you have chicken ready to go.

I had walked by this place several time and always thought it was a healthy salad joint– boy was I wrong. A lover of meat– this place is a hit! I don’t eat pork but half the menu was delicious looking pork options. I got the slow braised beef and was more than happy. The BBQ sauces add a crazy kick to each bite. Mac and geese is a must! Check this place out if you haven’t already.

Great BBQ! Same as the Venice location, which I was a huge fan of. I wish they had the game on the TV’s while I was there but it was a good time anyway. Unlike the Venice location, this spot has added beer to the equation and happy hour is a great time to stop in to receive a free side and/or $ 4 beers. The prices are reasonable and the barbecue is some of the best in town.

Bottom Line: YUM Ok let me start with the mural earns this place dammed near one star on its own. A co-worker of mine and I were in the area taking care of some bidness and looking around for some foods. This place popped up and we immediately knew where we were headed. I got the standard pulled pork sammy with the coleslaw and my buddy got a variation of that. My sandwich was fantastic — tons of BBQ flavor without that«smack you across the face» smokey flavor that some places add. It was just a fantastic sandwich. The cookie on the side is a really nice touch as almost anyone wants a little sweet at the end of the meal and that hit the spot nicely. We also had an order of tots which were also good. All in all I liked this place and will be back

I tried Chop Daddy’s for lunch a couple of days ago when I was working in Culver City. Chop Daddy’s is located in the heart of downtown Culver City so you will have to find street parking or park in one of the public parking lots(the closest one is on Washington and Watseka and there is another one just a couple of blocks down the road on Culver just ahead of Trader Joe’s). At the peak lunch hour the place was about half full but it looked very crowded as it is has a small seating area inside with a bunch of tables out on the patio. I decided to get the Tip sandwich($ 10.95) which is basically sliced Brisket on a french roll with arugula, homemade gravy and creamy horseradish. As usual I asked for the bread to be toasted. I also upgraded to a combo which got me a drink and a side of tater tots. In under 10 minutes I had the food on my table. The tater tots were perfectly fried, with just the right amount of crunch on the outside and a nice soft center. They had a very industrial feel to them, like being straight out of a bag from the freezer section of a super market. The French roll of my sandwich was only lightly toasted which gave it a soft chewy feel which I did not like very much. There were two thin cut slices of brisket in the sandwich which were definitely over cooked. There was hardly any beef taste left in them. However the rub that was used was very good and when combined with the homemade gravy and creamy horseradish managed to save this sandwich from being a complete disaster. Overall passable for having once in a while but not impressive enough to get me back in the door time and time again. I would rate this as a weak 3.5 stars that I’m rounding up to a 4.

It’s so hard to find good BBQ in LA! My search is finally over. When I don’t feel like driving all the down to Compton for Bludso’s BBQ, I’m definitely returning here. I came here with a friend and between the two of us we ordered the following, which came out to $ 60. 1) The ribs were so soft and they fell off the bone so easily! I really liked the BBQ sauce. 2) Chop Daddy Sandwich — juicy, flavorful meat + Mac n Cheese. Those are some my favorite foods to eat! What’s not to like?! 3) Another sandwich(I forgot what he ordered) He seems to have enjoyed it. 4) Super Tots — Chili Cheese goodness. The chili was meaty and had a consistency that wasn’t too watery or too thick. I can feel the judgment already… Bring it on. I don’t care because that meal was GLORIOUS. This was one of my rare moments when I demolished it and still had room for some Yogurtland afterwards.

I was really looking forward to Chop Daddy’s. Everything about this place sounded like it was right up my alley(i.e. crazy concessions of food like beef + mac and cheese on one sandwich)…mmm. Soo to make sure that this place was all that I imagined in my head, I ordered all I could: Tater Tot Poutine, The Belly Up, The Chop Daddy, and The Big Daddy, and a few other things. The best thing about these meals is that they give you these awesome chocolate chop cookies that were honestly probably my favorite part of the meal. And they even sneak in an extra cookie in the wrapper of your sandwich sometimes. The downside of the meal though was that I found the bread to meat ratio a bit off. I love brioche buns generally, but I thought the bun was a bit too dense for this kind of sandwich. It didn’t soak up the juices as much as I would have liked. And speaking of juices, I wish it were juicier. The meat was pretty tender and not bad tasting, but I thought it could have just been amplified a little more. I would have appreciated more of a smokiness. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it wasn’t particularly good either. Overall, I found myself a bit disappointed with my meal here. We even got the bread pudding, but that too was a bit off. They were chunks of bread and they were too crunch in my opinion. I’ve always imagined and ate bread pudding that is softer and easier to digest. This was more like a rock. I prefer more chew. The best part of my meal was probably the Big Daddy because it had a nice cheese sauce that pulled everything together. So if I were to go back that would be my go-to.

I have enjoyed every meal at this place, both the Culver location and Venice location. This Culver one is nice because there is more space to sit, both indoors and outdoors. Every sandwich is awesome and their BBQ sauce is delicious. Gotta love any place that hides a mini chocolate chip cookie in their sandwich wrappers. My favorite item on the menu, however, is the Kale Salad. You get a delicious an light kale salad with your meat of choice. Its the«healthy» version of BBQ and still satisfies the craving. Plus, then I can get a side of sweet potato tots and feel justified. And they have Diet Root Beer! Yes! Very nice employees as well.

I enjoyed chop daddy very much. I actually got there on NFL kick-off Thursday and wasn’t planning to watch the Patriots vs the steelers but they had two TVs up and ready to view all NFL games of the season. This place is a great place to check out, most likely the local games, football in case you’re downtown and want a family friendly place to sit, eat and watch the game. I believe Rush next door may have games up at their bar, but in case you’re with kids or underage in your group then boom. enjoy great bbq, deals and football all in one place. Also, not sure if the mrs. Pacman machine is always free in the store or if someone paid for like two rounds and never played it but I also enjoyed being able to play and get nostalgic to those arcade game days and was hoping to leave a high score mark, but died 1 too many times.:-/ I liked a deal they had where it was buy a draft beer and get a jello shot free and a free side with purchase of sandwich, so look out for their specials. always something good available.

Came here for lunch on a friday afternoon, and it was pretty uncrowded which was nice for us. I ordered the pulled pork with a side of mac and cheese and a drink(it was an extra $ 2.00) so not bad. It was $ 11.99 for a sandwich, mac and cheese and a soft drink so not a bad deal. They give you a number and bring your order over, so somewhat efficient, the food comes out about 10 minutes after you order. The food itself is somewhat bland — I’ve definitely had better BBQ. My pulled pork BBQ sandwich sandwich was a bit dry although the brioche bread was pretty tasty. The mac and cheese was ok — not the best i’ve ever had but not terrible. Overall I’d probably not come back to eat here, as there are better places — heck I can make a better pulled pork sandwich.

3 ½ really. Mac and Cheese– BORINGGG. Bland. Not worth my stomach room. Fried Pickles– Best I’ve ever had. Ate. Everyone. One… Potato Salad– The sweet deli kind. Not my favorite but some may like… Okay! Now for the GREAT stuff… Come for the sandwiches, people! I tried two. They’re ALL that. Bar stool– have backs! Big plus with me. Comfy. Clean and neat. Beer– a few decent ones on tap Free homemade cookies. Warm and pretty okay. Pricing! Why do some places think it’s okay to charge such high prices for their bbq? *cough* Holy Cow *cough*. Their prices are on point.

Simply amazing. For an area stocked with overpriced eateries and bad service, this place is a gem. Ordering is efficient, extra menus make it simple to narrow down your choices before you reach the register, and the employees are happy to answer questions. The prices are great, and the portions are just right. I tried the Pork Belly sandwich with regular Tater Tots. Both were perfect! The potatoes were clearly right out of the fryer, and the sandwich was delicious down to the last bite. The little complimentary cookie that comes with your meal doesn’t hurt either. While the food was great, I was most impressed by the service. The casher was friendly, the server was humorous and quick, and the manager went around to each table and honestly listened to feedback. Extremely professional.

HRMM. I expected to like this place because I’ve heard such good thing about the Venice location! But it was just A-OK. They’re only open Monday through Friday, 11am-2pm at the moment for their soft opening. I got there at 1:30pm on a Friday and placed my order. I got the Belly Up — which is essentially thick cut slabs of pork belly with slaw on a brioche bun. The pork belly wasn’t as tender as I expected and the brioche bun was on the greasy side. The BBQ sauce also wasn’t anything special to me! Tasted like regular old BBQ sauce =/I also got an order of crazy tots with chicken — the tots kinda fell apart when I tried to eat them, the chicken was kinda dry and the cheese looked like nacho cheese. It congealed really quickly and wasn’t very appetizing looking. They do hide a cute little cookie in the wrapping of your sandwich though! Service was friendly, you order right inside the doorway and you can either wait right outside the door, or on the patio a few steps down. They bring your order out to you when ready. I thought the prices were a bit steep — $ 9 and up for a sandwich and the crazy tots were $ 6. Parking is free in the lots all around DTCulver or you can snag street parking on Van Buren and walk over. Glad I tried Chop Daddy’s! It’s a great addition to DTCulver but I don’t think I’ll be back.
