Finally had the chance to come to H Space to check out one of the galleries. Went to yesterday’s gallery opening and it was really cool. Saw the running/training shoes on display with neon green and black. Those were gorgeous looking and I wanted to just take and wear them from the display. Was also able to try out the Carnita Fries at the Lime Truck and it was delicious.

The H Space Gallery(or «)(Space» as it is sometimes seen) has been open for a couple years now but no one has written a review yet. This is Hurley’s art gallery that opened in 2010, tucked away in a residential block in Costa Mesa. The gallery has featured many local artists and the designer that have inspired Hurley’s line of clothes. The gallery changes fairly regularly throughout the year, each time bringing something new and fresh, yet very representative of the SoCal vibe and lifestyle. Don’t be misled by Hurley’s ownership — this isn’t just surf-inspired or beach artwork. Though the H Space is open 5 days a week, I’ve only been there for opening night events(Mike Stilkey’s «Reminiscent», Nathan Ota’s «Risk», Dalek’s «Prism Break», and«Awesome Art Show». These are the nights to go because of all the free food and drinks and the opportunity to meet the artist. Sometimes food trucks will even come out serve food in the parking lot. I like this gallery because of it’s appeal to young adults in the selection of featured artists. A lot of students and those in the apparel and art industry come out on opening night to mingle. Also, the focus really is on putting the art art display for the community to enjoy, rather than trying to sell what’s on the wall. For some reason, the lack of a formal website(at least at the time of writing) is very appealing to me. All of their photos and event information can be found on the H Space Facebook page. The link on their page just points you to Hurley’s home page. Definitely worth checking out! Update: I think the reason why there have been no reviews yet is because there is no website, which is a required field to add a new business on Unilocal. So I just listed the Hurley homepage. Sorry! Hopefully, this will be changed with the introduction of a H Space website. Until then, here is the link to their Facebook:
