Delicious. I’ve only had the small plates here but they rock. The honey basal tea was also very nice.

First off, it took forever to seat our party of 4 when there was plenty of open spaces. The service was incredibly slow, taking forever to serve our tapas! We waited for a good 30 minutes before getting anything. Our server did not clear any of our dishes until we asked him to because we were running out of room. The food was bland. Nothing special and certainly not fresh. Nothing was memorable except how poor of a job they did with the undercooked sticky rice. We will definitely not be returning. Such a bummer. Don’t waste your money.

Funny little story here. Stopped by on a walk… Had no money but wanted to check out the space and menu for possible drinks later on. As we are walking away the server tells us the Speakeasy is downstairs. We tell him we’ll be back. And indeed, a few hours later, we’ve returned. Drinks and dessert, please! The handsome, young server was still working and remembered us! We had no idea the Speakeasy was downstairs… And that you can’t order the same drinks in each place… What? Huh? So we ordered dessert and drinks. The dessert was a super eggy«ginger Crème brûlée». Ok, but not a lot of ginger flavor at all. Just egg. While my drink was good I was also super bummed that the cocktails are so different… The server was very attentive(may have lingered a little longer than necessary) and the interior space was absolutely lovely. I really loved all the bamboo… Kept it earthy amongst all the rock features in the place.

What a delicious meal I had at the Magenta this evening. I ordered Beef Tenderloin with roasted potatoes and vegetables. The dish was presented with a delicate sauce, perfectly plated, and delicious to the very last bite. The beef was tender, and the vegetables perfectly cooked. The amount of food on the plate was perfect, not too little and not too much. What a wonderful main course. The crème brûlée dessert had a hint of fresh ginger in the crust. The crème was a little bit thicker than I expected, but the dish was very tasty. The chef at Magenta is outstanding.

How can it be??? How can a place with DELICIOUS food manage to destroy my belief that mankind is cool, kind, and honest? 3 strikes against this lovely restaurant for failing to be fair! 3 times I have gone for Happy Hour and 3 times they have billed me full-price! I was k. It, though, and each time the waiter apologized doe the oversight. The difference in tonight’s bill was $ 11, so it meant something! I swear, watch out when you eat here and always double-check your bill!

I visited Magenta on a Friday night with a reservation for four. We walked in the door and proceeded to wait 15 minutes before the host even spoke to us or acknowledged us. Why didn’t I turn back then? That was my mistake. We sat down and waited quite a while for the water to come by again. By then we all just wanted a drink and so we put our drink orders in. I realized we had no water and had continued waiting for some time until I asked a passing waiter for water. Finally the water a drinks came and if only judging on the cocktails Magenta would probably get a 4⁄5. Turns out it got worse. When we were were finally able to order some food we put in our appetizer order(tapas) and entrée order at the same time because we thought we might not get another chance to order. When two appetizers(out of 6) and 2 entrees(out of 4) came out at the same time we were baffled. We expected 6 appetizers to come out periodically over the next while until we finished and then 4 appetizers to come out, relatively at the same time. 10 minutes later 2 additional entrees came out with 2 more appetizers. We never saw the other 2 appetizers. For the same money you can have quite a nice experience at many other restaurants in Corvallis, including Del Alma or even the brewpubs down the block. I definitely recommend not to go here.

Really disappointing experience spanning food, service, and ambiance. There’s a pervasive laziness and lack of authenticity. We wanted to order several rounds of small plates, but the waiter said we had to order all at once because he had to take our menus before the food came. Because they are paper menus. Huh? So we ordered at once, and food came super fast, as if everything was pre-cooked and just warmed over. And it tasted that way too. And most stuff was cold by the time we got to it. Meanwhile our waiter stopped by our table so many times to take empty plates, I’m wondering why we couldn’t have just ordered in three waves. Other components of the experience just point to how the place falls short of fine dining: no coat rack, paper napkins, no specified liquor on the fancy drink menu, a waiter who was sarcastic and sloppy, rickety chairs, reddi-whip on top of the orange chocolate mousse. The owners were also hosting a large 25 top that was really very loud, drunk women in overpriced clothes and bad makeup howling, etc. Not classy at all. But bottom line, the food was mediocre at best, at times terrible. Skip this place and go to Del Alma for great small plates with fresh food and a real fine dining experience.

When we arrived the restaurant was more than half empty and it took the server more than five Minutes to look at us and offer us a table. The service kept deceiving, it took forever to serve our beer, to get our order and to clean the table. The food is nothing special and overpriced. I won’t return.

Good atmosphere, food was delicious! The server/bartender made a special drink just for me that was delicious and the steak and potatoes were equally tasty!

We had nothing but horrible service at this restaurant. We ordered small plates and only got half of them and they apparently forgot to make the other half. The waitress refused to serve our table until the food was done. We ran out of water waiting for our food that was never being made. The There waitress was surprised when we walked up to her and asked if we could get the check and leave the restaurant. She then took 20 minutes to get us our check. My husband got all of his food but I was never given the food I ordered.

My wife and I decided to dine here on our anniversary. She had not been before but I thought she might enjoy the variety of small plates. We had the crab cake x 2, pork stuffed mushrooms, tenderloin tips, coconut prawns, & bbq salad rolls. All were fresh, delacately seasoned, not over-sauced, and delicious. I always enjoy this place and will certainly be back.

Magenta has numerous small plates and just a few entrees. While my companion ordered an entrée, I ordered several small plates and I specified that the cold one was an appetizer and the hot ones were my meal. I know that the waiter understood, as he advised me as to the size of the dishes and how much to order. And yet, they brought all the small plates out early, long before my date’s entrée arrived. I objected, and the poor kid(not our waiter) carrying them looked like a deer in the headlights. He could not think of a solution, but he did hold the last one back. Our waiter returned later but never apologized or even mentioned the problem. On top of that, the food was quite mediocre in spite of the intriguing menu. Will not return.

It has been a while since I was in, but I logged onto Unilocal and decided to write some reviews that I have been neglecting. This place is fabulous. Always unique and I LOVE the small plates. They are perfect and always good. I love the unusual ingredients they find and creative ways they mix up the menu. I hope you continue to keep up the excellent work!

I’ll state mediocre service. The food is awful and they do not know how to prepare or cook fish. The dishes are very small, so I went to safeway and got more food. The drunks are delicious, but expensive for not having much alcohol. I don’t recommend to eat here, but to have a few drinks and socialize is nice.

I have been here twice. If one orders the European entrees then prepare to go home hungry and have a big dent in your wallet. The only good reviews would be the asian dishes such as pad Thai and phở soup. Not sure why this play is considered upscale apart from the price. Lastly last time I went with a group the server informed us the the cook went home sick so he the waiter would be our cook for the night. Turned out tragic.

Service was good. Ambience is wonderful. My friend loved her mango matini. We ordered way too may small plates but it was happy hour, so why not? She ordered the pork potstickers, shrimp and cheese wontons, stuffed mushrooms, and ricotta ravioli. I ordered beef tri tip, sauteed mushrooms, Brussels salad, and escargot. We shared all, and ALL were totally delicious. Go here!

I came here with a co-worker on a week night and was pleasantly surprised with the ambience of the restaurant. It was my first time there and the waiter was very attentive, he also explained how the ordering worked. We were also very pleased by the fact that we made it in time for happy hour. Their chicken coconut curry was exceptional, as well as their other sides such as coconut prawns. Their jack fruit and purple rice dessert is amazing as well. I would definitely come back once a week to this place!

Tapas restaurant with an Asian twist on numerous dishes. This is one of the best romantic date spots to take wife occasionally. The tapas mostly range from 4 – 9 dollars and you will need around 6 – 9 for a decent size meal which of course will depend on the size of the serving. I don’t think u have picked a single option that either my wife or I didn’t like. There are also full entrees. There is a full bar and the bartender makes an array of different tasty drinks. The draft beer list is decent and the wine list is solid. Although, wine by the glass is pretty limited. The setting of the restaurant is quite mellow which is nice for a date. I hope you aren’t in a big hurry though because most of your sit downs here will take a bit longer than some other nearby establishments. In fact, a couple of times my wife and I have waited quite a while to even be acknowledged by the staff. This also comes down I believe to a lack of waiters on the floor compared to the number of tables being served. If 3.5 stars was available it would be very applicable here.

The food will not knock your socks off but it never dissapoints. Don’t expect authentic… this is more for creative and fun fusions and twists on standard dishes. Downstairs you’ll find the best cocktails I’ve ever had served by a friendly and enthusiastic bartender

It’s a class place with sophisticated lighting and an ambient feel. You are well looked after by the sharply dressed and attentive staff members. The fusion of flavors makes for distinctive and interesting dishes. Fortunately it is dim sum style so try to your hearts content. Some must have include their crab cakes, shrimp salad rolls and beef tri-tip.
