I’m obsessed with Thai Del Mar. Always have been. I discovered it a trillion years ago when I worked in CDM(2007) and have been a regular here ever since. Why has it taken me so long to write a review? Because I’m a bad customer :(I forget that I have a Unilocal account sometimes too… My 2 faves on the menu: Spicy Fried Rice {combination or pork} and the Red Curry Chicken. {which also comes in a lunch size} Best Thai food around this area by far. And trust… I’ve tried them all! I usually pick up to-go also. Just make sure that you call before 8:30 during the week cuz they close at 9pm. Oh ya, and they’re close on Mondays or something. Tears have been shed once or twice over that fact when I’m having a particularly bad craving.

Overpriced, poor quality, and ridiculously small portions… This place had all three! I guess if you really need Thai and you really don’t want to leave CDM then this is your place. But don’t say you weren’t warned.

Located on the east side of PCH, the place needs remodeling, the old awning looks bad for CDM, They use to have great service and food I think its run by new owners who just try to make it So sad We use to go all the time …

Looking for a quick Thai fix. This works. Good lunch special. I had the pad Thai, didn’t taste traditional. It was decent. Good salad. Two wontons. And rice. The Thai tea was good, gave a lot! Little ice. That was good. Nothing too special. But okay. Service was not good. They throw the plate at you, then the bill. Literally throw it!

Excellent take out! Food was ready on time. Really tasty! Appetizers were a particular favorite — best egg rolls I’ve had around here, and delicious dumplings. We’ll definitely be ordering again.

Little restaurant with good food. It’s near my work so I like going there to eat lunch. It’s pretty straight forward but I like it.

Phone order service was unemotional, unhelpful and on the verge of rude. Uh oh. Off to a bad start. When I was waiting at the front for my food, a sweet woman who was seated came up to the front counter and apologized that she had spilled her water on the table. The lazy young man sitting behind the counter looked up from his phone and said«she’ll take care of it» referring to the owner/woman. I was dumbfounded and said«REALLY? You’re so BUSY on your PHONE?» I then took my pad Thai home and opened up a ball of sticky noodles that instantly kicked in heartburn. I couldn’t finish it. We’re sticking with Bamboo Bistro. So much better. Always consistent. Great service and proud of their cuisine. I will never return.

If you want to get treated like trash and pay for it eat here! WORSTSERVICEEVER!!! This is a sleepy restaurant that’s barley making it and they still treat customers like they are being bothering them. We arrived at 8:30pm there was an old woman as the server on Thursday evening. The minute we walked in she gave us a dirty look. We sat down and instead of her greeting us she came up to us to tell us they closed at 9:00pm. I was a bit confused, I asked if we could still order since it was only 8:30pm. She said if you order you have only 20 min to eat. I was so embarrassed in front of my 3 guests that I was treating to dinner. I tried to clarify what she told us, figured there might me a language barrier. So I asked again… If we order now and are not finished eating our food by 9:00pm do we still need to leave or can we at least finish our meal? She said we close at 9:00pm you have to leave by that time. So my guest and I sat there a bit puzzled as she walked away. All I could do is tell my guests we better leave to another place to eat. If this restaurant has no customers it’s always empty, no music, no décor. I’m sure they are about to shut down from the looks of it and they still act this way with paying customers?! Why have a restaurant to begin with. I hope they shut down and leave this spot in beautiful Corona Del Mar for another restaurant owner who is happy to serve every customer that walks in the door! STAYAWAY. STAYAWAY. STAYAWAY. STAYAWAY

The worst dining experience I’ve had in Orange County. The food didn’t taste fresh, made my family sick, the server/manager was rude, and the atmosphere is terrible. Don’t eat here.

Real chill spot. The décor isn’t all that. The seating situation is kind of cramped. The parking situation sucks. However the service came with a smile, was prompt with refills, taking the order, and delivering the food, and the price was right. I took my girlfriend there and we split an appetizer of vegetarian egg rolls(4 per order), a small tom yum soup, and a large plate of shrimp pad Thai for 22 $. That’s insanely well priced for the portions and caliber of food we received in the Newport Beach area. When I’m in the area I would surely go again.

We picked up food from here because Bamboo Bistro was an hour wait for pick up. Very disappointing meal all around. I ordered the Mongolian«beef». There was almost no beef and the beef that was in it was very low quality and over cooked. My fiancé ordered steamed vegetables, an extremely basic dish. The vegetables seemed frozen and had a weird after taste. There was no garlic on it as requested and there was what appeared to be steamed iceberg lettuce, not cabbage, in the dish(weird). Overpriced for what you get and just not restaurant quality.(It felt like a fast food place.) We definitely will not be ordering from here again.

It’s located on the side of PCH, and I was in the building that they share, visiting the beauty salon upstairs, and as I was walking up the stairs, I noticed that something smelled very good. Upon further investigation, I classified the smell as Thai food, and then promptly forgot about it, until I was walking back to my car, and I just couldn’t resist coming in. I got a serving of Tom Kha, which was, as Unilocal!likes to put it a-ok. I’m sure that other dishes are better though :)

I was very spoiled by Mint Leaf while living on the peninsula. Thai Del Mar just isn’t the same– Mint Leaf is way better. But TDM is decent and they deliver and Sunday nights necessitate Thai food so we’re regulars. Their pad thai is amazing.

The food is mediocre. The customer service is non-existent. Actually, they do exist and they are terrible. If thai food had a soup nazi, to borrow from Seinfeld, this is the place(sans the quality or taste). Do you really need to know more?

LOVED this little place. The food is great, fast + amazing service, and not a lot of people. I got Thai iced tea, dumplings, pad Thai, and sweet and sour. All yummy! :)

Since I am the newly crowned Duchess of TDM, I would love to give this spot a review! I recently started working across the street, and only get a ½ hour lunch break. I Unilocaled«Thai food» since they usualy have vegetarian/vegan options, and found a few local Thai places, but my coworker who lives in CDM said this place had the best food and price, so I took his advice. I checked out their online menu and placed a take out order over the phone. It always takes about 15−20-mins for my order during lunch time. They have about 10 different lunch specials to choose from for $ 7.99, which include two wontons, a salad(LOVE the spicy peanut dressing), and a scoop of rice. I always gets the vegetable pad-thai with no egg. I like that they wrap the pad-thai in foil so it doesn’t soak through the to-go box. Also, even though it’s vegetable pad thai, they put little chunks of tofu in it. Yummy! The portion isn’t ridiculously huge, and I can finish the whole thing and be nice and full. They don’t have fountain drinks, only bottles and cans, but I like the green tea they carry. The restaurant itself is small and hidden(it’s next to Johnny’s Pizza), but never crowded at lunch when I’ve gone. I will keep getting lunch their at least once a week!

I like Thai Del Mar. It might not be super fancy but it’s a nice casual option if you want Thai food but are in sweats and feel shamed going to Bamboo Bistro looking like a hot ass mess. Or are coming from the beach. Service isn’t spectacular. But I love the main lady. She’s from Thailand and when I told her I had gone recently, she perked right up and we had a nice little bonding session. I usually get some form of curry and it’s pretty decent. I wouldn’t order anything fancy or complicated though. Or be very complicated in what you ask for. Simplicity is key here. As far as food goes, it’s pretty decent. Nothing life-changing but solid Thai food. Like I said, a solid casual option if you’re a local. If you’re closer to Long Beach, for the love of all things delicious go to Phuket Thai.

Just got lunch from you and I have to say it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a thai food restaurant. First of all, their online menu had NO prices, which leads me to suspect that they do this on purpose so that people will order food, and then get hit with a 14DOLLARCOMBINATIONFRIEDRICE! I’ve never paid more than 10 bucks for any thai food dish. If you’re going to surprise me and charge 14 dollars for a lunch time fried rice, you would expect the quality and the quantity to make up for the ridiculous cost right? NO, these stingy, deceiving restaurant owners gave me a LESSTHANGENEROUS portion of food, and let alone tasted JUST average. Customer service is horrible. I complained about how they didn’t have prices online and she simply just murmured bullshit and kept on repeating the price of my dish. My co-worker got NO dressing on his salad and half of his noodle dish was vegetables with barely any chicken and noodles. I would highly suggest that NO one come here, and waste their money. You will only leave with extreme disappointment, anger, and the sudden urge to throw a chair out the window. I’m going to become a public health inspector/food critic and single-handedly bring this place down. May God have mercy on this place. P. S. In a complete NON-racist way, Don’t ever trust a NON-ASIAN on their reviews of an asian food place. they simple do NOT know what they are talking about. TRUTH!

This was our third carry-out meal here and(bummer) iwe likely won’t return. The flavors are pretty good, but the meat/fish part of the portions are truly stingy; I mean as in «wow, did the chicken run out the back door before they could kill it?»… This last delivery order was fish, beef and Pad Thai. In each case there was almost no meat no fish no chicken. $ 40 for three meals and we stood there in the kitchen looking at the food wishing we had picked up the order so we could have given it back(is this something they do to delivery orders only?). Much better experiences at Bamboo Bistro literally just down the street. Same prices but the food is consistent and better.

Food was good but the portions are small. Between two people, we ordered 3 plates of food and still was just kinda full. Probably wouldn’t come back unless I was already in the area and craved Thai.
