This place closed down without notice. I am not surprised. Maybe it is for the best. Food was good, service was terrible.

Food continues to be good and we love the rice. However, we have ordered delivery a few times and on more than one occassion they have simply forgotten to deliver, delivered late and said that delivery was unavailable.

Decided to try this place out after driving by Maria’s, and discovering it was closed for lunch. On a Saturday. WHAT?! Instead of crying, I decided to google other Mediterranean places in the area that wouldn’t break the bank. Trusty ol’ Unilocal led me to Pita Bites. Small place, & very casual, which is great when you have a toddler in tow! The only area I see room for improvement in is their service. It was quite slow, especially considering we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. But now that that’s out of the way, I want to give nothing but praise about how fresh the food was. How perfectly seasoned. Best falafels I have ever had. I WILL be going back.

I really stumbled upon this restaurant as I was in the mood for falafel and I Unilocaled from my driving location. I was truly surprised to find that the food was so tasty. I recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for real Mediterranean flavorful food that is unassuming and served in a fuss free, laid back dining area. Not fancy, but very good food. Don’t let the challenging parking situation out front keep you away.

What a shawarma. Authentic Arabic shawarma not a gyro or hero … Garlic sauce was awesome

Very friendly service & good food. It took a little bit to get the food, the place was empty, but it was worth the wait. Had the Chicken Shawarma!

I really hate to dock them stars because the food is truly delicious. However, I value customer service and appreciation tremendously and I was very disappointed today. We ordered a vegeterian platter to share, as well as a gyro and chicken shawarma wrap. The whole reason we ordered the vegeterian platter was so we could sample everything as described on the menu. Grape leaves, tabbouleh, falafel, babaghanoush and hummus. Well, sadly only 3 dipping sauces came out with 3 pieces of falafel. Nobody offered an explanation. We were so exhausted after traveling(came directly from MIA) that it didn’t even dawn on us until we were on our way home that we got shorted big time. The food is really tasty and worth the sometimes long wait — but if you advertise something on your menu it should be provided unless you address the customer ahead of time. Things like that really put me off. It’s sneaky and I don’t like it. They also charged us a dollar extra for sharing, which in hindsight now just pisses me off since we didn’t even get what we ordered. Real shame.

I would have rated Pita Bites a three star for food quality, but the poor delivery experience drops it to a two star. We had the gyro and the chicken shawarma. Flavors were better than average, and had more of an authentic flavor than one experiences at most pick-up/takeaway Mediterranean restaurants. The pita had a great consistently — reminded us more of a lafah bread than a typical pita. And this was a good thing. Unfortunately, the food arrived lukewarm, which detracted from the experience. Which brings me to the problems with delivery. The delivery fee is pricey. The estimated delivery time was long — an hour. But worse, the delivery person had tremendous difficulty finding my house. Frankly, I have never had to spend so much time on the phone with a delivery person in my life. It was a truly odd experience. It’s not that I don’t think the delivery person was conscientious. He seemed to be conscientious, and certainly tried hard. But for whatever reason, he just couldn’t figure out where my house was– not with cardinal directions, and not with cross streets. Eventually we got it figured out using landmarks. As I said, it was truly odd and took a lot of my time. I’m on the fence about whether I’d try Pita Bites again.

Miami isn’t the best when it comes to food delivery but when I simply can’t muster up the energy to get out of the apartment to scavenge for some food, Pita Bites is my Gables go-to. It’s a unique option in the area since Pasha’s closed shop. What you’ll find here is an array of Mediterranean eats ranging from gyro wraps with seasoned fries to vegetarian platters with hummus, babaganoush, salad and more. My first time at Pita Bites, I actually ventured into the restaurant to get some food to-go. There isn’t a ton of seating which I guess permanently fixes this places as a pick-up or delivery only kind of spot in my mind. What I also gleaned from that visit was that the service is very friendly and they have simply delicious mint lemonade! Everything I’ve tried throughout my multiple orders since has been pretty good. My favorite bites have probably always been what my boyfriend has ordered — the chicken schwarma, beef kabob and gyro. I’ve gotten less favorable items including the vegetarian platter, falafel sandwich and moussaka. The moussaka wasn’t quite what I was expecting and probably the only thing I would not be eager to get again. Usually at these kind of places, I opt for vegetarian options because they are so darn good but in the case of Pita Bites, don’t shy away from the meat. In addition to that, the fries(when fresh) are tasty when paired with their unique sauces. I’m happy this place has caught on and hoping it will stick around for awhile. We all need excuses to be lazy every once in awhile.

My beef shawarma wrap was so good! Definitely worth the wait and a healthy option for lunch time, co-worker had a lentil soup and she raved about it too. My wrap was taking a little too long and the owner(I think) reimbursed me! I wouldn’t have complained regardless but it’s great to know that some businesses still care about their customers. My only concern is that the girl behind the counter filling up sauces and orders was not wearing gloves(I saw her touch her hair often :(). That’s the only reason I took off a star, other than that I will definitely be back and brought menus for the floor!

Food is delicious. The staff is great. The owner approached our table to ask how the food was. The place is super clean. Definitely coming back.

Do you love Mediterranean food? Do you work in the Gables? Are you tired of paying outrageous Gables prices for mediocre lunch? Then I have news for you… Pita Bites is a MUST try. Think: quick, sit down, falafels, salads, kabobs. I’ve been there a few times and can’t say I’ve had a bad experience. There are 2 very friendly girls who provide awesome service and the food is consistently good. Give it a whirl! I’m fairly certain you won’t be disappointed. BTW — they say they deliver but you have to order $ 20 or more. The average plate is $ 5 – 8 bucks so if you’re ordering for the office that’ll work. If not, you have to deal with finding parking unless you’re close enough to walk. When they open up their delivery to less than $ 20 bucks, they’ll surely get a fifth star from me!

Because the Gables has so many good food options, I rarely go to the same restaurant more than once within a month. However, I crave the chicken schwarma pita here. It beckons me! The gyro and fries are also delicious. The service here is a bit slow/mediocre but I feel it has gradually improved since they opened. I would call in your order to speed things up. Its a casual dining feel but the time it takes for the food to come, not so much. which is fine… I’m glad they are taking time to make the food delish!

It’s ridiculous how good the food is. I came across this place on one of my social networks and put it on my to-do list. Having lost Pasha’s on Miracle Mile, I was in need of a good Mediterranean place to fill the void. Enter Pita Bites! There’s limited seating, but it’s open and well spaced. The staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered the chicken and steak kebob platters with rice and house salad. I don’t know if it was the seasoning or what, but I LOVED the chicken. I could probably eat a bucket of it alone. I can’t wait to go back. wish they were closer to work! The only drawback for me, because I’m lazy, is the parking. like everything else in the Gables. Find a spot curbside or hit up a garage and you should be good to go. Keep up the good work, PB!

Great food but their service is terrible! They really need to step it up. Positives: We ordered the gyro wrap and it was delicious. I ordered my wrap with fries and they were nice, hot and had some good spices on top.(I’m a fries lover and they were pretty good) Food quality is great! Menu is good and has variety!(I would add a beer selection) Ambience was ok, and the music on the background was good. Negatives: Waitress only came to the table to get our order and to bring the food. The place was empty so no excuses for the lack of attention. Also, I was thirsty and needed a refill of my drink and I had to get up and requested it because the waitress was busy talking to the other waitress! My 3 star review is based on the bad customer service and not on the food. Pita Bites’ management please take this in consideration, and give some training to your staff on how to take better care of the customers and to be more detail oriented!

Dude… Bassem. You are nailing it. A purveyor of many cuisines I think myself; this unassuming Resto with a cartoon-like logo will satisfy all needs for Middle East Cuisine lovers. From the Schwarma to the gyro; excellent. The intricacies of the flavor have not come from a cookbook. It is all on point; the Laffa is a little thin and will decompose under a foil wrapped Schwarma. Now for MYFAVORITEDISH in all of South Florida. The Lentil Soup is out of this world. Serious Nourishment. The consistency is right on and the flavor is uncompromising. Crushing it!

My husband and I have been wanting to try this place but have been put off bc of the fast food style look. Nonetheless, we walked in about 2:30pm for a late lunch. The place is small and simple. We ordered the Lentil Soup(I could have had a vat of it, it reminded me of my Aunt Ghada’s soup) Chicken Shawarma with fries(my husband said it was tasty and filling), Tabouleh Salad(totally yummy and juicy, I hate dry tabouleh), side of falafels(fresh fried which is really important bc there is nothing worse than pre-fried than warmed up falafels), the harissa(spicy) sauce was fantastic, I ordered a bottle of water and an orangina, the whole meal set us back $ 41 with tip. The portions were fair for the prices they charge. The food came out in a timely fashion and the owner who was sitting a few tables behind me was very pleasant and friendly. We will absolutely be back!

I just went here for lunch with my hubby. We tried the was delicious: very creamy, had enough tahini that it gave a good sesame flavor and the olive oil they topped it with was very good. We both had the chicken shawarma. I like that it was toasted on the outside. Most places don’t toast pita bread so it was a nice change. The chicken looked dark so I thought it was steak. I don’t know if it is dark because of the spices they use? It was very good had a hint of cinnamon to it. It was very flavorful. This sandwich is really big. We could have shared one. I also had the hibiscus tea, which also tasted like it had a hint of spices. This place is new so maybe that’s why the service is a little slow. Hopefully, they’ll work out the kinks. It’s the only reason I docked a star. Oh.and I went to the bathroom there. It was immaculate. The whole place is sparkly clean.

I’m always on the lookout for new lunch spots on the Mile, and I was especially excited to find a Mediterranean place after Pasha’s closed. This place was a pleasant surprise, both in terms of food quality and service. After perusing the menu, I decided on a falafel pocket, and asked to have tzatziki with it as well. My server(who may have been one of the owners) offered to bring it on the side in lieu of putting it in the sandwich itself, which was even better. He told me it had tahini and hummus in it as well, but I do love tzatziki, so why not try it with all of them. He even brought me an extra side of tahini as well. This was one tasty(and filling) sandwich! As Patrick L. noted, the tahini has a thicker consistency than I’m used to seeing, and that’s a good thing. You can tell everything here is homemade. The falafel was delicious — not too dry and crumbly, and with great flavor. My only(tiny) gripe with this sandwich was that all of the hummus and most of the lettuce were at the bottom of the pita, so I only got to them after I had finished the falafel itself. But the tzatziki and extra tahini were perfect, so I didn’t miss the hummus at all. I decided to end my meal on a sweet note with the baklava. You get two nicely-sized, delicious pieces, so I had dessert for two days. Every person I encountered here(three people in total) was very nice and welcoming. Overall I was very happy with my meal, and see this place being one of my usual go-to spots from here on out.

A string of glowing reviews from relatively inactive Unilocalers gives me a little pause when checking out a new place like Pita Bites, but I was walking the streets of Coral Gables, footloose and fancy free with no lunch plans; my only intent being to find a new lunch spot. When I walked by, this shop seemed clean and inviting — the fact that it serves Middle Eastern food sealed the deal. I needed a new shawarma hookup. I wasn’t necessarily expecting that much from my shawarma wrap, but wow, I have to say, I was pretty impressed. The pita wrap was a nice portion, stuffed with meat and onions, all chopped to the perfect size for a sandwich like this. It looked very fresh, too — you can just tell. Indeed, it tasted as flavorful and fresh as it looked. Seasoning was right on par, just enough to be loaded with flavor, but certainly not over-salted as is sometimes the case with similar eateries. Plus, let me mention the tahini sauce provided alongside… that stuff is phenomenal, grainy and thick with flavor, not at all like the limp watery sauces some other places slap on their pita sandwiches. My only complaint was that the cup of it was a bit small — I could have used a little more. If someone is reading this, just hear me out — I am going to come back, and I’m going to order the shawarma wrap again. Please, please, do not change a thing. If you start getting cutesy and skimping on the ingredients, I will be extremely disappointed. Try the lemonade, too. It tastes homemade, with more of a bitter/sweet lemon taste than a sour/sweet lemon taste. And, it’s minty to boot — a little frothy with crushed ice, it’s quite tasty and refreshing. Some of the prices on the platters seem a shade too high to me, given that similar platters can be had at the Daily Bread nearby for several dollars cheaper. Then again, if what I tasted is any indication, the quality here is definitely higher, with more authentic Middle Eastern flavors, so… yeah, this will likely be added to my lunchtime rotation. Someone in the kitchen here is doing something right.
