It looks like things have changed at GPS, so I am reviewing it again. The other day I needed food in a hurry(cheap), and I was tired of the usual offerings in this area(Five Guy$, McDonald’s, Subway, Joe’s Pizza, the abominable Wendy’s…). I decided to go to GPS and have a couple of slices. From past experience, I knew the pizza was okay. I had a friend with me, and we both had slices. I don’t know for sure, but the impression I get is that they have new owners. The pizza has changed for the better. I would really like to see them succeed. The old slices were on the thick side, and the crust was boring. The new ones are paper-thin, in a good way. The sauce is pretty good. The cheese was fine; it didn’t have that Domino’s fake-cheese texture. If you’re looking to pig out cheap, these slices will let you down in the calorie department, but the quality is very good. Just order more. Unfortunately, the atmosphere is horrible. The ceiling in the restaurant is flat black, with dollar bills taped to it. Divey. The bar is the same bar that was in place back when the restaurant was a Haagen-Dazs franchise. It’s oddly shaped and not suited to pizza. It’s very run down and beaten up. They’ve covered it with corrugated galvanized steel, which looks terrible. When you see it, you feel like they don’t care whether they stay in business. The whole place seems grimy. Even the Ipad register thing was greasy. The restaurant needs a paint job, and they need to bite the bullet, spend $ 2000, and put in a bar that doesn’t look like a train accident. The bar appears to be WAY too long. They could take eight feet off of it and replace it with tables. Tables make money. While we were eating, the employees were chopping salad with a weird hand-held chopper. The noise was incredible, and they never stopped. This is what doors are for. You make noise behind a closed door, not in front of the customers. They ought to get rid of the salad. The salad area takes up half of the restaurant, and no one cares about salad. You can get the best salad on earth at Whole Foods, so why go to Gables Pizza? If they concentrated on pizza, which this area lacks, they would work less and make more money. One more annoying thing: the Ipad suggests tip amounts, beginning with 15%. If you want to tip 10%, which is the correct amount for SELFSERVICE, you can’t. And when you’re done, the screen tells the cashier how much you tipped. Not cool. And why would anyone tip in advance? I only did it because I was low on cash. I resent the manipulation, and other people do, too. In short, here is my Restaurant Impossible checklist: 1. Clean the place. 2. Paint the place(not black). 3. Get a real bar. 4. Kill the salad. 5. Stop making deafening noise, including yelling to each other while you work and playing the TV and radio at the same time. This area is starving for pizza. Do it right, and you will be rich.

Pizza came after an hour(I’m 2 mins away), it was cold, greasy,(and not the good kind), the large looked more like a medium,(and that’s generous), and the pepperoni were these little weird thick circles that just didn’t look like it belonged on pizza. If you’re looking to be disappointed after a long anticipated hour, this is the place!

Do not get a salad delivered. It was old lettuce and a total let down. But the bowls are massive and worth your money. Good food for sure bit of like an option to put a hot sauce or salsa on the side to accompany my bowl.

If you don’t mind having a colony of tiny roaches climb around you on the floors and walls while you eat your meal, then by all means GOFORIT! The food is good, but they do have creepy crawlers lurking around. NOJOKE. There were at least 5 tiny roaches climbing around the floor. After I saw one, I tried to ignore it and keep eating, but after seeing 3. then 4… then 5… I lost my appetite. As we were leaving, we noticed one of the employees sweeping the roaches out the front door, proving that they are aware of the problem. If that’s what they have in the front of the restaurant, IMAGINE what could be living back doors! Yikes!

Terrible service and this place is dirty, a roach was crawling up the wall next to me as I was eating my Pizza. I almost threw up on the table and not to mention the dumb girl didn’t know how to run the cash register and swiped my card 3 times, so now I have 3 pending transactions on my account terrible terrible terrible and nasty not coming back first and last…

I really don’t like writing negative reviews and I hardly ever do but I feel like GPS deserves this one. I ordered my food online and waited about 15 minutes before picking it up. When I got there I noticed that they hadn’t started the order yet but what was worse was they didn’t have any urgency to start, make, or even give me my food. I had to walk up to the counter to see if it was ready to which the nice young lady said«sorry». Like you’re very sweet and all but I waited 42 minutes for a pasta dish and now I’m late to bed :(

Horrible customer service. Owner is extremely rude, as soon as you walk through the door you start sweating because of the heat, and the restaurant just looks plain dirty! I expected more from this place from past recommendations but even the pizza was horrible, I was given a pizza that tasted as if it was reheated and old. I will not be coming back!

Delicious menu with tons of Options! The food doesn’t take too long to be ready, the prices are fair. They have an awesome create-your-own-salad bar, that allows for lots of combinations. The wife is a big fan! The cheese pizza is good as it is, and can be even better once you customize it with the toppings you want.

Worst pizza I’ve ever had, dirty hole in the wall, needs to be repainted and refurbished. What a shame, this place used to be good many years ago. Lady behind counter came out with curlers in her hair: none of the workers used gloves when touching food. Pizza was tasteless. They need to be inspected by health department. Won’t be back.

Seven dollars for two slices of pizza! OK now that I’ve got that out of my system I will start with the good. They are fast. They can put whatever you want on a red pizza base and they keep things simple, they also seem to be a favorite with college students. Now the bad: It was so confusing walking in to the restaurant, you sort of see the counter from the side, there is a huge stack of pizza bixes being made, couple bags of trash sitting in the middle of the entrance. I ordered a basic cheese tomato and fresh basil slice, it was ready in a matter of seconds however it was more like salt pizza. The cheese was dry and lacked any flavor. It was way too salty. I have to admit(and thus the 3 stars for«promising») that the crust had great texture to it; big air bubbles, long strands of gluten. IF you are craving pizza, this is an option but just to fill the void, not to leave you satisfied.

Awesome place. I ordered a cob salad which was huge and delicious with lots of fresh toppings. We also gat bacon cheese fries and white pizza. The white pizza wasn’t exactly what we were expecting however. It was pretty much just cheese pizza with no sauce on it. Other than that everything was perfect and we will absolutely be going back soon!

Love this place. I usually get a salad or wrap. The ingredients are fresh and there is just about every ingredient possible. The garlic rolls are delicious and the pizza is fantastic ! I highly recommend.

I use to come here long time ago it was good back then. But gush today we sat and there is Roaches everywhere!!! The first one was by the wall. Then we are eating and one just passed by right on the table were we are eating … Very discussing like how this place is even open and I can only imagine at night! Never again! For real somebody have to call inspectors. This place needs to be closed down.

Had some very good wings here. They were meaty and nicely fried. I had them with the hottest sauce available — it added a nice kick, but was tame for being the hottest available sauce. The upshot was that the sauce had excellent depth of flavor. I had a garlic knot, too. It was swimming in butter/oil and was below average. Would skip. I get that this is a divey pizza spot for college students and local families. But dang. Even taking that into account, Gables Pizza is super cluttered and the area behind the counter doesn’t look super clean. It was a little bit of a leap of faith to stick around here. But — I’m glad I did. I’d come back for the wings(especially on Monday or Wednesday, when they have wing specials).

This is such a quick and easy place for salads. I usually get the build your own and add any topping I want. I just tried the pizza for the first time. AMAZING. Definitely come here to grab a slice or a whole pie. The place is not really too nice but it works. The service is usually pretty good.

First time here. Never knew it existed. Maybe I haven’t had pizza in a while… Maybe I have… Truth is I don’t eat nearly as much as I’d like to. Today, I accompanied my best friend to get some food since we were going next door to Misha’s Cupcakes. I wasn’t hungry but I said«ok… I’ll share a pizza and some wings with you». We ordered the white pizza, and lemon pepper wings. Both were deceivingly delicious! Best pizza I’ve had in a very long time. But, like I said, I don’t eat it often enough so take it for what it’s worth. The wings however… This I do eat often and my husband’s grilled BBQ wings are the best but these were right up there. Perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. Only reason I take away a star is because it’s a hole in the wall. It’s kinda sad if you’re going to dine in, but we grabbed a seat outside and it was ok. I guess it’s a great take-out/delivery spot.

Let’s call it what it is: a hole in the wall. So far, I’ve had nothing but positive, delicious experiences at Gables Pizza & Salad(or GPS as they call it). The staff is very pleasant, but a little rough around the edges. Cleanliness does not seem to be a high priority and the place itself is dated. Could really use an upgrade. Salads are fantastic, but overpriced. A salad with diced tomatoes, diced onions, cucumbers, baked chicken, and feta cheese from a pizza place should be under $ 10. If I was at a nice sit-down restaurant, sure, I’d spend $ 15 for a salad like that, but not a take-out pizza place. Overall a positive experience at GPS, but it’s not like the food is amazing or its new or anything like that. Just a little overpriced and dated.

As a UM student, I love local businesses. That is why I spent several days to let my thoughts stew before updating my GPS review, alas, I couldn’t let it go. I can’t speak for the pizza, but the service and salads have certainly declined. 1. Service: So rude. No one is working behind the counter but an employee is sitting and eating and calls the guy behind the counter. I literally can’t even with his lack of helpfulness or any sort of care in the world. This rudeness was so rude, it was actually a topic of conversation for days. Cue pink cheeked look of annoyance. 2. Price: They used to do the salad with the make your own salad choosing a number of toppings. Now it is by weight. Rip off. The guy dumps in a bunch of lettuce and basically no toppings. I just paid ten bucks for lettuce. I also asked about a student discount thinking maybe with the changed price scheme they would offer one… it’s a local business and no student discount. You have to be kidding me right now. Cue red face of anger. 3. Finally, the salad ingredients didn’t even look fresh. The assortment is pretty much the same as previously offered, but the ingredients looked like they had been sitting there for hours. Cue smoke from ears. I’m going back to Whole Foods Salad Bar. Shockingly enough, that is actually a better deal for the quality and quantity. A sad, sad day in Miami history. RIP the former GPS. Not worth it. #canteven #saddays
