i’ll be honest. everyone knows painting is all about the prep work. Todd Smith and his sidekick;.their prep kung-​fu is just about 10^th degree black belt. There is no equal. a Todd Smith house paint job takes weeks. not days. they go over everything, and prep away. anything special needing repairs, they gave me plenty of notice and then allowed me the time/​space to do the repairs DIY. i had to fix a few dry rot spots and replace some siding boards. no biggie. it was nice to be able to fix the spots and have them right behind me making my sub-​par carpentry work disappear. my new house paint job is tight!
why did i ding them one star? they tried a new fangled treatment on our worst wall. this poor wall just faced the sun day in and day out. the treatment didnt work and the wall bubbled at an epic level. about a 7×10 sq foot area. what sucked was that it was front and center. anyone visiting, or just us going in and out of the front door. was that constant visual reminder that we still had a pending repair job. it took a while. months to get the repairs done. but finally that white van was parked in front of our home and the repairs got done. and done RIGHT! more PREP! they took the wall practically down to virgin wood and coated it with a new product. kel-​coat or something. it was toothy to the touch when dry and i just knew it would grab any and all subsequent layers of coating. they still primed it again. and added TWO coats of house color.
done! any minor bubbles i can handle from this point forward. i learned a few tricks from the fellas, and they gave me tips on how i can extend the life of my new paint-​job.
