Someone told us about New Lim’s. Apparently, this is a second location for this family owned and operated Chinese restaurant. It looks like it was once a coffee shop kind of place. The décor is typical Chinese/Asian style with a mix of tables and booths. The menu was extensive — so extensive that one has to wonder if they can really do a good job on all of the items. But, we were a party of 4 and we ordered way more than we needed to and all of it was very good, indeed! What a pleasant surprise. The House Special Chow Mein with Pan-fried noodles had a good variety of veggies and the sauce was nicely seasoned. The Broccoli Beef was also good — super fresh, hot, tasty and very tender beef slices. Hot Sour Soup was perfectly balanced between the hot and sour flavor spectrum. And the Peking Pork Ribs were bite-sized, tender and full of flavor. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. Prices were very reaslnable. Yup, we were ‘happy campers!’

The food is good and tasty. Their prices are affordable. Too bad that after over 10 years of going to this restaurant, I have seen both inside and out go down the tubes. Everything inside this place has become filthy. I’m surprised that the county has not shut this place down. It really makes me wonder about their food preparation. From roof leaks, disgusting toilets, run down carpet and not to mention the whole complex its located at has become a trash can for the homeless at night. There’s trash all around the parking lot!

Food is decent given the area but that shouldn’t excuse it for bad customer service. Went to pick up a phoned in order and there was one person ahead of me. Someone else walks in a few mins after me and goes straight to the front of the line. The hostess/cashier starts talking to them and essentially processes their order… before the person at the counter and me! The worst part is the cashier asked me if i was doing the same. I said yes i phoned in an order. Shes says ok then goes on to take the to go order of the person in front of me. Um ok… I guess my to go order wasn’t good enough but the guy who walked to the front was?

Pretty rough. Water dropping from a leaky ceiling. Filthy men’s restroom. Sesame chicken that was worse than grocery store processed food.

My first time at Lim’s Restaurant and my last. Did not like the hot and sour soup, bland. The chicken in the Lemon Chicken tasted OK but they must have left out the lemon so I was disappointed with it too.

This was the most memorable experience I’ve had of Lim’s garden and unfortunately, it was not a pleasant one. Service: the people are friendly but service was incredibly slow. They were so slow to the point that our group decided to just write down what we wanted to order and give it to anyone working there. It took so long for the sole waitress to notice us and take or order from us. At the end, surprisingly they didn’t accept credit card for some weird reason — machine wasn’t working or something. I wish they told us earlier since not everyone carries around tons of cash. Food: this was actually pretty good. I enjoyed everything we ordered(7 items or so) and the speed the food finally came out. The terrible service and good food made the experience about a 3.

I’ve been going to NLG for almost 20 years. Always good Chinese food that’s the right balance between traditional and american tastes. Don’t be fooled by the«foody» invasion that’s dogging NLG. It’s good food and good people work there!

I have come here for years for take out and the food was always fresh. Health inspection might want to inspect this restaurant. Tonight I came in and the area we were seated smelled of cat urine. I ordered lemon chicken and rice. They brought the rice out and 10 minutes later the chicken was still not brought out. The smell of the restaurant was making my stomach so upset I had the food packed to go. The kicker. on the way out of the restaurant I actually started vomiting. I do have a pretty weak stomach, however, it is not much to ask that a restaurant you are eating in at the bare minimum smells of food and not cat urine. I pray I do not get food poisoning as I read some of the other people did at this restaurant. I will never come back here again and if cleanliness is important to you I would steer clear of this place.

We ordered take out broccoli beef vegetable chow mein orange chicken chicken fried rice walnut prawns and egg rolls. Found a legitimate quarter to half inch piece of metal on my plate, not sure where that came from. Just happy no one ingested it and more problems happened.

Super disappointed yet sorta happy at the same time. Ordered combination chow mien and lemon chicken… Always my favorite. Especially here — food is typically fresh, hot, not over fried or processed or greasy — until tonight I picked up combination rice instead, an error in ordertaking. I decided to take it instead of wait and — it was worth it. The lemon chicken… Well, all I can say is it looked good! I don’t even know how to describe how overcooked or aged it was… lemony Jerky? Shoe leather? I truly could not eat it and had to throw it out, couldn’t even fake it. What a waste. Love the sauce though.

Sorry to say I can no longer overlook the dirty/run down interior any more. This place is in dire need of a remodel. The food has really gone downhill. My last 2 visits have pretty much confirmed what I have been experiencing for a few years but in denial about it. First off, I have to say, while some items on the menu are still above average(like their fried-rice dishes), most of the menu is outdated, boring and just not tasty anymore. Example, the Wor Won Ton soup broth doesn’t taste like it used to. This broth is now over-diluted and tasteless. The other ingredients taste like«leftovers» and the wontons are way overcooked(falling apart in the soup).I usually also order the ‘seafood’ lettuce wraps? Now, there is pork in it(supposed to be just seafood?). I figure they use pork as an extender, hoping I won’t notice(what?). I also noticed they increased the price of this dish too(yikes). I also had pot-stickers. They were too doughy and also tasteless. Service has most always been ‘acceptable’(just barely, as most of the wait-staff is at least cordial). This last time, the waitress did not understand very much English, at all. So, it was difficult ordering and asking for stuff. She winged it and the service was awful(not really her fault, though). One thing I have always wondered about? While yes, there are lots of Asian folks almost always in this place(which ‘usually’ bodes well for the food). However, I have noticed(over time), that not only do they receive preferential treatment(faster, more efficient service) but I also strongly suspect they get«better» food too. I’ve always known about Lims’ Asian menu(which is fine that it is in Chinese — most Chinese restaurants have them). I wonder if the seafood dish I had(with pork in it) was ordered by an Asian diner, if it would have had pork in it? This last visit, it seemed most of the Asian diners’ food just ‘looked’ better? I can only«suspect» this because I can’t prove it. I was going to bring this up to the head waitress but she also spoke very little English, so I just left after dinner. Since there are better choices available in this area(Hunan for one — right down the street), I will choose to patronize those. It’s sad because I’ve been eating at this restaurant for over 7-yrs. But in this economy, sometimes you have to let the not so good places fend for themselves.

Tried this place night. We order Salt & Pepper Pork, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Combo Fried Rice. Service was pretty bad. Our Combo fried rice came about 10 minutes before our entrees. Salt & Pepper Pork was basically seasoned and deep fried fat. We had a hard time finding any edible meat. The Honey Walnut Shrimp(these were not prawns) tasted dirty– this taste is from not cleaning the shrimp properly and de-veining them. The 2 stars are for the Combo Fried Rice. It was pretty good. Will I ever come here again — NO!

Don’t even bother, just walk away! So prior to coming here, I read all the Unilocal reviews about bad service; One after another. Only, I decided to give this place a try anyways. Hungry and seeking some good Chinese food, I walked in on a ‘not so busy’ Saturday afternoon. Upon entering, there were two servers, one at the register, and the other hugging her teenage kid or niece or whoever. I smile, yet no response from either. The one at the register walks away, ignored, whatever. While the other one was still hugging her kid in front of me. Finally stops, goes to the register, «Ready to order?» «Umm, no, I’ve never been here. Did you have a menu?»(Did I seriously have to f***in’ ask?) «It’s over there.» She replied, again without a smile, and pointing to the stack of menus. Now normally, I would be a d**k, take a menu and throw it on the floor. But luckily I was in a good mood and wasn’t about to let Ms. Heartless get the best of me. Here’s my ‘to-go’ order: ~ Egg rolls($ 3.50): Three pieces with vegetables. Mushy veggies inside, crunchy outside. And two of the three egg rolls had burnt ends. As in black burnt. What gives! ~ Salt and pepper pork($ 7.75): Not bad, not bad, seasoned well and decent. Probably the only thing I really enjoyed. Though I’ve had better, with thicker cuts before. Half a star. ~ Chinese broccoli with beef($ 7.50): Not the way it’s viewed in the menu. I was expecting broccoli stalks, only they sliced all of them into pieces and stuck it in beef with the sauce. At least it was crunchy, so another half star. ~ Chicken chow mein($ 5.75): Bland! ~ Shrimp fried rice($ 6.75): Boring! One star extra for the speediness. Was told, done in twenty minutes. It was done in ten! Would I be back, NEVER! Would I recommend this place to anyone, NO! They’re lucky to even get a second star out of my @$$. Spare yourself, go to Hunan Restaurant down the street or pay a little extra over at Lulu’s Kitchen on Willow Pass.

The service was extremely rude from the cashier. She spoke to me in Cantonese. She kept saying girl and pay me. I was very unhappy with her tone as well. When the food was ready, she said, «Girl, your food is here!» This experience was the worst for me. The roast duck was dried and they did not provide any sauce either. There were plenty of parking spaces in their lot. I noticed that many people ordered their food to go as well. I would never come back here again. I came here because Ranch 99 ran out of the roast duck.

Went there tonight for dinner. I’m not a fan but my husband love the steamed fish here. So as I was planning my trip taco bell the check came, I pulled out my bank card and the lady said«sorry credit card machine broken, sorry cash only» I had to walk across the street and spend five bucks in ATM fees just to pay the bill. I complained to the cashier that they should have a sign on the door or something and she points to a worn, small, hand written sign saying the credit card machine is broken. The door has visa and master card logos on it. If they offered to take the ATM fee off the bill or something, I probably would have been ok. I suspect they’re just being cheap as I know credit card companies charge merchants a lot but you just build these into your prices. If you want to operate an all cash business, let your customers know before they order food…

My family and I have been going to New Lim’s for the past ten years to celebrate birthdays. It’s convenient because you get SO much food at great prices. For large families like ours, that + the lazy Susan makes this place a hidden treasure. The food is consistently good. We always have to get the Honey Walnut Prawns, Deep Fried Rock Cod, and Singapore Rice Noodles. Unfortunately, their service here isn’t as consistent as the food. We’ve had great service where they kept checking on us and asking if everything was going well. And we’ve had experiences like last weekedn when I walked out feeling full but disappointed. We had ordered the Egg Flower Soup, which they never brought out. When we asked for it a third time, our sever brought out a Hot and Sour soup and insisted that we had ordered that instead. We said we didn’t ask for the Hot and Sour and asked her if she could switch it to what we really ordered, but she wouldn’t take it back. We gave up and just took the Hot and Sour(it was only okay). When it was finally time to pay the bill, she came back to us and said that their credit card machine JUST stopped working. With that said, they no longer took card — just cash. We didn’t carry that much cash since we were prepared to pay with card and told our server. She just kept shaking her head at us, telling us to give cash. Apparently they had to call a central office to turn the machine on for them. What frustrated me the most with this situation was that we were willing to wait until the machine was turned on. After all, we still had food on the table. Yet she kept rushing us to pull out cash and hand it to her on the spot. Eventually(no more than 15 minutes), the machine turned on and we were able to pay via credit card. I just wish they hadn’t been so aggressive about the whole situation.

Deep fried sole my favorite here. Food overall good & items priced well. Service always okay, but tonight was really bad, took so long to order & restaurant wasn’t super full, no water refill, had to ask for a box & the check twice & when I did get the check there was no total.

I came with my family to celebrate my uncle and my grandmother’s birthdays. There was plenty of parking and we were seated immediately at a table for five. We ordered the walnut prawns, salt baked asparagus, squid, and prawns, stuffed eggplant, steamed fish, and Hong Kong style noodles. The walnut prawns were ok and so were all the salt baked items. The stuffed eggplant was tender and bursting with delicious filling. The Hong Kong style noodles were nice and crunchy and it was a good ratio of noodles to pork and bok choy. My favorite by far was the deep fried sole. It was nicely fried and the sauce was delicious. I have ordered this a couple of times and it is my favorite fish in the area. Overall it is good Chinese food for Concord and I would come back for the sole and the eggplant.
