D&A is a good place to get bbq. Have been a customer for over 20 years. Quality food but I was not always guaranteed a friendly welcome at the window. A note to the owners or new owners: Good, friendly customer service makes more customers happy and willing to return.

Customer service was not good at all. It seemed more like I was bothering them than anything else. They didn’t have any beef so I had to get the chopped pork. It tasted old, not at all like it had just gotten off the pit. I also got the link sandwich… it tasted like an italian sausage with barbecue sauce on it. The barbecue sauce was pretty generic, but not bad. I see that the ribs are pretty popular, but I haven’t tried them … they may be amazingly good. I will go back and try the chopped beef then finally decide… …and the beef tasted as old as the pulled pork. Barbecue sauce was generic. I would skip on this place and head to Bludsos.

D & A BBQ — The best — Take out only, cash only. In the middle of an interesting area of South Central LA. Get there early, get your food, get back in your car and go somewhere else more comfortable to eat it. The Rib Tips are the best and the first to go. Sauces range from mild to HOT and the sides are great. Nothing on that menu is bad. The way this place works is you drive and park, usually stand in line for a bit, order it, pay, wait some more and leave with your order. After you go here once you will see why, the general area is… well…transitional is the best word I can come up with at this time. By the way once this place has sold out of a product it is gone for the day. They also close up fairly early and if you are the next in line at closing time, well your shit out of luck, they close up.

This has to be the best bbq I have ever had the pleasure of eating, I heard of this place through the word of mouth, so today after work I took my wife and son and we had some ribs, baked beans and potato salad. They were having like a charity fund raiser so they washed our car(for free) and they were selling hamburgers. These hamburgers were made from scratch and they were abosolutely delicious. The service was top notch. I will be a customer for life.

D&A is two blocks away from the best barbecue in Los Angeles. If you want to get a quick education on the difference between decent barbecue and terrific barbecue, this is the place to be. I ordered the spare rib lunch with hot sauce on the side, which includes three ribs and potato salad. You can get any side you want, as long as it is potato salad. Unfortunately, it’s just regular supermarket stuff, you know, the kind with pickle relish and dry mustard. The ribs were nicely seasoned with salt and pepper, well smoked, and well trimmed of fat. They were a little dry throughout, but still tender without being mushy. The nicest thing about these ribs was the bark. It had a crispness that I have not found anywhere else. On the other hand, the bark was slightly tough and chewy, though not as bad as several other places I’ve been to. A bark that is both crisp and tender might be asking for too much. Is it even possible? Hmm. Funny thing about the hot sauce. It’s actually hot sauce, as in it’s Tabasco or something similar. I went back to make sure I got the right thing, and they said some of their barbecue sauce is in there, but it’s mostly plain old hot sauce. I would order the regular sauce if I were you. I’ve heard they make good hot links, so I’ll swing by the next time I’m in the neighborhood.

No doubt this Bar-B-Que spot has great food and a sauce 2die4. I have been coming here since b4 I could even drive. So YES they have great BBQ. On the other hand they have HORRIBLE service. Every time I call in they answer the phone like they are tired of people calling them as if their annoyed(i’m calling to give u money dumbazz). If I am there in person it takes them forever to take my order. Then majority of the time they are always out of rib-tips. Everyones attitude sucks there. 5+ STARS for the sauce –0STARS for customer service I’m not a hater tho so they still get 4 stars but the customer service gives me mixed feelings. I guess that’s why I don’t go that often. I dislike people with attitudes for NO reason.

Without question, D&A has the best bar-b-q in Los Angeles county. I’m from the state of Texas which is known for its bar-b-q and I would match D&A against anything that I have ever had in Texas. D&A would probably get more business if it offered eat in. Additionally, the location(Compton) probably keep some customers away; however, once you try the bar-b-q you will see it is clearly worth visiting.

Good place to eat. Very unfortunate name though. Sounds a lot worse when you say it out loud.(DnA Pit).

The rip tip tour marches on. This is literally a BBQ shack. Not even a storefront, only a window. Forget about dine-in. Look at the building, look at the idling hungry customers loitering out front, look at the swaths of smoke emanating from the drum smokers in the back. Certified«RIBTIPS» SHACK! Hell, it’s written on the wall son! I got so excited I forgot to ask for«sauce on the side» for the tips (((actual food itself to be reviewed since I still haven’t figured out what the hell Florida style Que actually entails. Requested detail from GWIV — BBQ PhD. $ 8.50 got you over a lb of rip tibs, coupla slices of Wonder bread and a potato slaw. Pricey, but…))) And then I saw the«website». And then I saw the PDF menu. DUDE! You can’t be ghetto if you have a pdf menu… *sigh*
