BBQ was ok. Portions were small for the price point. While we were eating one of the workers decided to blast the whole dining area by opening the smoker in the room and spreading rancid smelling smoke while we were trying to eat. Clothes still smell like whatever nasty chemical treated wood they use.

Mediocre at best. Brisket was about as moist as beef jerky. Delivery didn’t contain sauce of any kind. Only upside was the pie that they obviously don’t make in house, and even then the type wasn’t correct. Not sure where the disconnect lies, but won’t be indulging in the food again.

Always consistent in taste and service. Staff is always friendly and the food is always tasty, plus kids eat free on Sunday’s! I would recommended the westerner with chopped brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage. My kids love the mac and cheese as well

Dry as cardboard Brisket. This is the 2nd time. I will not return for the 3rd try!

Went here for the 2nd time and I love the food and the employees are the best. Their food is the best and it’s true to its word bbq at its best. I would keep going here and I am making it my number 1 Bbq place here in Colorado Springs. If you want Bbq go here.

Had the brisket, fried okra and beans. I would rate it average at best. Would have liked it served hot but it was warm. They don’t slice brisket but pull/shred it. No way to serve brisket in my opinion. Just too many better smoked meat places to eat at in the Springs to come back.

Sliced brisket, mac n cheese, waffle fries and a giant yellow cup. This was my first visit to any Dicky’s, and it wasn’t bad. Nothing to write home about. I tried all of the available sauces, ho hum. Overall, meh.

I went in afterwork, 8÷20÷15, to pick up something quick for the family. I had looked online to see what was available before I went in. I found that the prices online and the prices listed on the board were different, the family pack was a whole $ 6 more. I mentioned and the guy behind the register wasn’t concerned. The food was good, brisket and chicken but they forgot to put in the sauce so it was a little dry. I would recommend that they update their website or at the very least honor the web prices, especially if it is mentioned by the client.

I was there with my family for the first time on Sunday afternoon(8÷23÷2015) and the man doing the meats was incredibly rude. Not being familiar with the process or the food, we walked towards the middle to look at the menu. The woman in the«sides» area looked up and I asked where we should order. The guy from the meats seemed very irritable and said very rudely«look at the signs!» I was so incredibly taken back that I reminded him that I was the customer and perhaps he should be a little nicer. Not everyone has been to a Dickey’s, knows the whole ordering process or the types of meats that are offered. Try some customer service Dickey’s. The food wasn’t even that great. Very dry. Our order was over $ 30 and this will be the last time I spend my hard earned dollars at a place that treats customers with such rudeness. I would advise management speak to the guy handling the meats on that date around 1:30 pm.

I asked for chopped brisket three times… and still got pulled pork… the guy behind the counter was so irritable and so manhandled the meat that the other employees seemed embarrassed. At 12:30 on a Monday the place was pretty empty… perhaps this is why.

The Texas chopped brisket is probably the best meat on the menu. The sides are pretty good, lots of options. Every day there is a special deal, kids eat free on Sunday, free soft serve cones and $ 2 beer and wine from 4 – 6 every day. If you bring the yellow cup back its one dollar off the drink price. Good service, friendly. Not the most amazing BBQ, but good enough for Colorado Springs.

Yum! This place smells all smoky when you walk in! I wasn’t expecting much from this place so I was pleasantly surprised by the tender meat and spicy/sweet BBQ sauce. I got the two meat plate with pork and brisket, both were phenomenal. For sides I had the coleslaw, which was a great consistency for a creamy coleslaw, and the baked beans, which were good, but nothing to do flips over. Their sweet tea doesn’t do justice to Southern Sweet Tea, but I can’t complain as it is fresh and not from a fountain. If I can’t have BBQ in the South, this place will certainly do. :)

Service was ok. Food was mediocre. The sliced beef brisket was good but beyond that everything else was painful to eat. I just ate it all because I felt bad that my friend picked up the tab. Waste of space in my tummy! Jim n nicks bbq is much better!

Well I went to the Garden of the Gods location on a slow Tuesday night. The staff was friendly but this establishment screams chain storefront now that does not automatically means it will suck but it usually means the BBQ May not be as fresh as I like it to be. Overall the meat had a good smoke flavor but given what you pay I don’t see value here. The sides were standard and just OK. I spent many years in the South and pig is the king. The ribs here are ok but a little dry. I went here because some Texan friends suggested it so I had to try their brisket– it was much better than the ribs. Overall it not as good as Rudy’s but I still maintain that Bzz’s BBQ reigns supreme here in the Springs.

Rudy’s is better all around. I got the three-meat plate with brisket, chicken, and turkey, because they were out of ribs(at 7:30 pm). I got baked beans and coleslaw, because they were out of macaroni and cheese(at 7:30 pm). The brisket was dry. The chicken and turkey seemed over-boiled and processed. The brisket and turkey didn’t seem seasoned, and the chicken seasoning wasn’t quite right for BBQ. The coleslaw was bland. I like it more creamy and tangy. The baked beans were okay. Nothing to scream about. I gave it 2 stars only because the sauces were good and there were 3 choices(original, sweet, and tangy), the pecan pie was okay, there’s free ice cream cones, and kids eat free on Sunday.

The thing you should use to judge BBQ places first and foremost is where do they smoke their meat. Dickies does it on site, unlike other BBQ chains. Their chopped brisket is really tasty and their ribs are consistently delicious. They are a bit on the pricey side, especially if you forget your yellow cups, but tasty none the less. Their place is rustic, so basically order at the front and seat yourself. Depending on when you go, it is either a train wreck or a ghost town. So plan accordingly.

Oh man… being from Texas and knowing the«real» Dickey’s, it was such a disappointment to realize this is a more fast-food, take-out kinda off shoot from the original. Don’t like that you can’t serve yourself with all the sides. One of the best things about Dickey’s in TX is looking down that long row of fresh, pipping hot sides and deciding«what will I have today…» and dessert choices at the end. Plus, you can’t see the meat being cut/chopped for you. Everything is behind a counter. I felt like I was at a Subway with blacked-out glass. So the taste… well, it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t the real thing either. The chopped brisket tasted more like burnt ends you’d find in Kansas. And, I just can’t get past being served my meat on paper and my sides in paper cups with PLASTIC silver-looking ware. Just very fast-food’ish! And, could not believe the server was going to put pickle and onion on our sandwiches without asking. My husband HATES pickles. If that pickle had made it to his sandwich, they would have had to start over. Just a weird, short-cut setup for what’s suppose to be Texas BBQ. Miss all the toppings too, like jalapeños, banana peppers, onion, pickle, etc sitting out for you to top off your food your way. Well, I am glad to see Dickey’s is here because it does somewhat resemble the real thing, but it was downer to know it’s just not going to be the same. Have not found GREATBBQ in the Springs yet, but I’m still lookin’ :)

I’ve been to Dickey’s a couple of times now. And while I prefer them to Bird Dog I still feel that Rudy’s has far superior meat. Monday I got the three meat plate(brisket, ham, spicy cheddar sausage, onion straws and mac ‘n cheese). The brisket was dry, which was on par with my other experiences; the ham was rather flavorless; the sausage was tasty but seemed almost undercooked. The sides… Oh the sides! I love the selection of sides. Rudy’s would dominate if they took some lessons from Dickey’s. One cool dealyo that Dickey’s does: They often will put out a coupon where if you buy a $ 30 gift card they’ll give you a $ 50 gift card. If I still worked in that area I would take them up on that deal because it is a great offer.

The serving line method doesn’t move smoothly and we were the only ones in line. Once at the register, our plates had to go back twice bc items were missing, one meat from each plate the first time, and rolls the second time. Then the block lady tried to touch the sides/cashiers nose with one of our buttered rolls?! And the manager saw and didn’t act, just looked awkwardly embarrassed. Meats were not hot but that can’t really be helped I suppose since we ordered two 2-meat plates and they sit for a bit while getting prepared. Not to mention getting sent back twice, then waiting while we get drinks, cutlery, sauce, etc. Chopped Brisket was tender but a bit bland, Chicken borderline dry, but spicy cheddar sausage was great. Good portions. Sides were slaw– crisp and light, yum. Potato casserole… Eh. BBQ beans were also great, rich and meaty. Mac and Cheese was good.

Colorado really does have the huge potential to match places like Texas and Kansas City when it comes to barbecue what with our western roots and rock solid meats, but sadly, it seems that we’re restricted to chains like Famous Dave’s. Hoping that Dickey’s would be different after a glowing review from my Mom, I decided to give it a go. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? A locally owned and operated franchise, Dickey’s really does a great job with the atmosphere. Is the location ideal? probably not, although I’m hopeful that they pull a lot of the local workforce on a daily basis. On top of that, the service is excellent, and my entire family left with a really pleasant«feel good» vibe. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Barbecue is expensive, which you and I both know, but I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to walk away from the counter with a single meat, two side platter for under $ 10. Have a look: Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Barbecue is hard to screw up as long as you have the right equipment, but it’s also pretty difficult to really get it right. In terms of the meat, Dickey’s walks the line between excellent(BBQ in Texas) and not so great(nearby Bird Dog). The same goes for the sides. The Jalapeño beans were fantastic along with the potato, but there was nothing here that really blew me out of the water. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? It’s better than Bird Dog in my opinion, but Dickey’s is essentially right on par with Famous Dave’s. No Star Granted.
