When my local pizza place closes before I can get home from work I order online from this location. Never had an issue before until tonight. Yes, I know it’s NYE but when the driver showed up after an hour and we discovered that he brought us the wrong order I quickly called them to see how they planned on rectifying this situation. Apparently customer service is an expensive luxury for this place. I was placed on hold, hung up on when I asked for the manager. Then after 30 minutes on hold and going back and forth, I was told I’d get a free pizza on my next order. Next order? I’m never ordering from you again!!! Our money quickly got refunded. Never again!

I’ve been called lots of things, but a pizza purist is not one of them. Papa John’s is a chain, I know. And their pizza doesn’t offer a one-of-a-kind pie experience. I’m sure independent pizza joints are wonderful. But Papa John’s does the trick with pizza that I think beats any other chain. Plus they regularly offer coupons to feed my habit. The service at this location is fast and friendly and convenient to me. And because I’m a bachelor you know I’ll be back. A lot.

So I’ve been traveling for nearly six weeks, my plane arrives into PHL at 10pm. After baggage claim, taxi, etc I won’t get home until 11pm or later. There’s nothing at my house(I made sure not to leave foods that would go bad) and late night dining in Collingswood is pretty much nonexistent, especially on a Monday night! So I decide to try Papa John’s for the first time in at least a decade, because they’re open until midnight. I ordered the pizza online, while in the cab heading home. I get an email receipt for the order at 10:42pm. At 11:15pm I call just to confirm that they received my online order as I’ve never ordered from them before. Usually pizza delivery in Collingswood takes 30 – 45 minutes tops. The person at the store gives me this song and dance about how they have a lot of orders, they only have one driver because there was a problem with the other driver, etc. I tell him, «I’m only checking to make sure you received my order!» At 11:45pm I call again– it’s been over an hour since my order was placed. An hour delivery for a chain as big as Papa John’s is just ridiculous. I tell him it’s been over an hour and my pizza still isn’t here. He gave me the same response he’d obviously been saying to ALL the customers tonight: «I don’t know when you placed your order, sir, but we had a problem with a driver tonight so there’s only one driver and we several orders I guarantee you the pizza is on it’s way.» What made me mad is that he didn’t offer to do anything about it! He didn’t say, «Your next pizza will be free» or «Here’s a discount code for your next order» etc. He basically made HIS problems MY problems and made no effort to make things better for the customer. When the pizza finally showed up an hour and a half after placing the order, I let the driver know how upset I am. I told him it wasn’t his fault, but whoever is in charge at the store is a dolt and lost a customer for life. He said that the guy at the store tonight is a «stand-in». Sure enough the pizza was cold and I had to microwave it. How can this possibly be acceptable???

I also feel goofy reviewing a pizza place. But just had to share my experience last night. Had a 50% off coupon on a large pizza. So we decided to order a large pizza with spicy italian sausage, pepperoni and half with bacon. I picked up the pizza and everything looked okay. By the time I got home, sat down and actually ate a slice… I quickly realized that there was literally only 2 slices with bacon on it. Felt kinda gypped. My girlfriend prefer PJ to Dominoes… and I’m the opposite. Another strike P Johns…

the food was always good. my problem came with their customer service. i had been a loyal customer for 7 years. sometimes spending over 100 a month on pizza. one night after getting out of the hospital they took over 2 hours to delivery and then wanted to be paid again? i paid online had the ordered pulled when i called. they refused to believe me. the next day after speaking to the owner he found his companies mistake and never offered me anything for all of the trouble i went thru. Got the feeling they could care less. so I have never gone back. the food is good fresh but if the customer service is this bad, i had to move on. i did eventually get my money back though

Yeah, um, if say I were a restaurant. I’d want people to know where I was. Ok Papa John’s that ones a freebie.

We usually do take out from here(and we submitted a correction to the address for Unilocal, they are in Haddon Twp/Westmont, not Collingswood) and usually have no complaints. We’ve done delivery once or twice, but usually take out is pretty quick, no complaints, they get our order right, etc. Nothing too crazy, it is corporate pizza, but I think we like it the best out of the major delivery chains.

Maybe it’s a little corny to review my local Papa John’s outpost, but is there really anything better than getting hot food delivered to your front door when weather conditions are less than desirable(read: a foot of snow and 50 mph winds)? No, there’s not. So Papa gets four stars from me on this blustery day. I was able to customize my order online, and take advantage of the deals in my area by simply entering my address. I was also able to pay by credit card, which was highly desirable as I had enough cash for a tip but not enough to cover my order. After my card was processed, I received a confirmation email that said I could expect the delivery in approximately 55 — 65 minutes. This seemed reasonable, given the conditions outside, but my pizza arrived in about 30 minutes nonetheless. I have enough food to ensure that I don’t have to leave my house until at least tomorrow evening, and that sounds pretty all right to me. Also, the non-greasy factor of Papa John’s pies and the ‘Garden Fresh’ option which I selected make me feel like I made a healthy choice, considering the alternatives. Yay for snow days!

Ok, we all know PJ’s pizza is no prize winner, but after ordering from this location a few times the fastest my food has arrived(less than 2.5 miles) was forty minutes, last order was close to one hour and ten minutes, and surprise, it’s not usually that hot. Oh, and the drivers routinely smash the heck out of your food. Come on Papa John’s, it not that hard!

Ok yes, I feel a bit the review whore doing Papa John’s, but someone has to do it! For consistent, good quality pizza, and now with the new yummy Honey Chipotle wings, this place is great. Online ordering with my cached pizza only credit card — also a bonus. I also only tip in cash, which assures me prompt deliveries. Personal fave — roma tomatoes, onions, much meat, extra sauce, thin crust.
