Had Valentines Dinner here and everything was perfect– Food, atmosphere, great waitress with a comforting sense of humour. We are new to the neighborhood and we are quite happy with our new Italian Place on our first try. Have a few more to experiment with but Osteria is currently tops in our book.

Very disappointing, restaurant needs some help, it took 45 minutes to have our order taken, finally got some bread for the table. We asked to see a manager since it took over 2 hrs to get our dinner, a waitress with a horrible attitude spoke with us. Just gave an excuse that kitchen is backed up. Someone from our party ordered the sea bass, what was served was the size of a single scallop. Extremely dissappointed.

We go here for happy hour at the bar. Kevin, the bartender, knows how to make a Negroni. We enjoy the food. My wife likes the eggplant. I like the clams and sometimes the mussels with a little bread for dipping. We’ve never been disappointed with the service or food.

Went there for a combined 87th birthday party and 55th wedding anniversary celebration. Our food was terribly slow to come out and cold. Our party was told we were too loud more than once. Horrible experience. Never returning.

You’d have a better meal and service at the olive garden. Let me just say that people who were in my party have been to the restaurant before and enjoyed it. That being said we schedule a reservation for a large party and received HORRIBlE service. We were told on multiple occasions that we were to loud. Being that out party was on the larger side(more then 10) the volume was expected to be louder than normal. Besides that the manager had nothing nice to say to us. Our meals did not come out consistently and some were cold. Everything seemed to be our fault when talking to the manager. When speaking to the manager she acknowledged our concern but did nothing to help us. The food was not worth the scolding that we, the customers, received.

Sat at the bar and had dinner. The place was freezing inside so we asked the female bartender with the dark short hair if they could please turn down the A/C. She completely ignored us. A waitress behind the bar was kind enough to lower the ceiling fan speed. It went downhill from there. She never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks 2 patrons who came in after us got their food before we did, we had to ask for bread and she was extremely rude. We actually did something that we never do and left a 5% tip. Don’t bartenders and servers get it that Tip is an acronym for«To Insure Promptness» Needless to say we won’t be going back anytime soon.

Classic and quaint Italian dining is the experience you get when you walk through the door. The staff is polite and friendly yet a little undertrained. It’s not a great mark when your server can’t comment on wines because, «we’re not allowed to try them». The wine selection is simple with a reasonable variety of classic Italian wines at a very fair price point. Dinner for the evening began with asparagus wrapped with prosciutto. The asparagus was a little on the small side, but the texture of the prosciutto helped the dish from being a miss. Salads consisted of baby spinach with goat cheese and cherry tomatoes. The salad was a good segway into the entrees. For dinner we dined on chicken medallions with crabmeat and shrimp as well as eggplant parmigiana. Both dishes were nice and while not striking they were both enjoyable. We did not have dessert but the items on the tray looked very appealing. Osteria is a nice restaurant offering the type of quaint dining you sometimes desire at a very affordable price point. We will return at some point.

Terrible service by a barmaid with glasses and a short bob. She was rude and then turned around to another couple and talked about us like we couldn’t hear her! Then she watered down my drink. My friend and I would stop in there occasionally for a drink but now we will find another place. My friend told me that is not the first time she has been treated like that there. Such a shame

This is a better then average Italian restaurant. We go here maybe once a month and it’s good and consistent. The red Mussels Fra Diavalo are my favorite and my wife like the Veal Saltambuca. They also have a reasonable wine list with a nice Montipuciano that goes great with the spicy red mussels. Drinks from the bar are small and expensive.

Been here several times since 2011. Sometimes we get great service, but, mostly food and sometimes drinks take a long time. If you’re not in a hurry, this is the place to be. Food has been good — sometimes it is under seasoned, but basically it is good.

Overall we had a really great experience. Here are some of my observations: — The food was absolutely delicious and priced fairly. Not too expensive, but with drinks can add up. — The atmosphere was good. There was a big fire place and it feels like a big house. There was also some live acoustic music playing in the other room. I liked it, but I also liked that it was in the other room(the room with the bar) — It took a while to get our food out. We didn’t really care too much because we were just enjoying our company and having some drinks. — We were the youngest ones in there by a couple of decades. Not kidding. We are in our twenties and there was a lot of grey hair. I think there were some younger people in the bar room. — Friendly staff, easy parking, good vibes, and did I mention the food was delicious! This will not be a place we frequent, but we will certainly go back!

Let me set the scene for you. It was a brisk Friday night and we were dressed to kill as my friends and I stepped out of the Volvo we arrived in. Upon opening the wooden door, the host was abrupt and wanted us seated as quickly as possible despite our desire to flirt with the regulars at the bar. He caressed my friend and apologized after dropping menus on her. The service was probably the worst part, unfortunately. Our waitress was attractive but a little too speedy for my tastes. Let’s just say if she was on the Titanic, nobody would know Kate Winslett because our waitress would have notified the captain of the iceberg sooner, the crisis avoided, and subsequently there would be no movie. The balsamic vinegarette had too much oil and not enough balsamic vinegar. The pace of the courses can best be described as glacial. My fettuccine Alfredo was literally to die for(this post is from beyond the grave) and the portion was gigantic. I heard the bathrooms were nice, though some redheaded gentleman was in there for quite a while and we all know that’s a bad sign. I’m also happy to see they have a large gay following as we saw multiple pairs of older men intimately dining together. The tab was appropriate for what we had.

Chris M said this was a great place so I had to try it. He was correct food is excellent. It’s homegrown the portions are large, service is very very good. I ordered a glass of Chianti it was very good. Can’t wait to go back and try another dish!

Seafood fan… you MUST go on Mussles night… AYCE !! They are sooo good. I prefer the red sauce to the white garlic(altho I’m a huge garlic fan). Plenty to eat… service was great, food was hot… what more can you ask !!

Great Chicken Parm! This a nice local italian place. I’ve eaten here a lot and some times are better than others but always good. I recently strayed from the norm and had the mussels in red sauce with a side of linguini– it was very good. The setting of the place has a historic village setting in evansburg. I definitely recommend this place.

I recently went here for a birthday dinner with six of my friends. I had always passed Osteria and wanted to try it out, but this was my first time. My friends and I really wanted to have the half-priced appetizers and dollar off drinks at the bar before our reservation, but when we got there they kind of wouldn’t let us. When I called ahead for reservations the woman who answered said that the special was only in the bar, which I understand, but when we got there the owner was basically like, «No there’s no room at the bar for you. You should have come earlier.» So we had to skip the bar and head straight to our table. They did give us $ 1 off our first drinks though. The service was also kind of rushed. The woman who waited on us gave us very little time to decide on our orders, something that takes time with a party of 7. And then our food took plenty of time to arrive. I liked my dish though. It was a pasta with ricotta and eggplant. And the portions were huge.

Do you ever read 1 star reviews and wonder whether it is the person or the place that was bad? I see people on Unilocal who NEVER give a good review, and it is from a place I totally enjoy, and it makes me wonder. Was just at Osteria tonight with a group of 10 people. We called at 4:15 for 5PM reservations, and we got a table… They asked us if we could assure them that we would be out by 6:45 so they could have room for a 7:00 party of 12. We were fine with that. Service was just fine; not a single issue. The food was really enjoyed by 9 of the 10 people at the table. The one person thought it was«OK» but by no means bad. The apps were all good, too, and each one of the 3 apps were 100% eaten. The calamari app was HUGE — and good. Portions are very large… I am a 275 pound guy and I only ate about 40% of the entrée. I did eat some of the appetizers, though. The only part nobody seemed too excited about were the desserts. They were good, but not as good as they looked. So, a 4 out of 5 seems just about right. BTW, most of our meals were $ 15 — 25. And my daughter, who is a filet mignon fanatic, said hers was«coooked by someone who really knows how to cook steak».

We ate dinner in the bar to take advantage of the happy hour that takes place from 5 to 7pm, Monday through Friday. The appetizers(all half-off) we selected were the good crab cake and the quite tasty asparagus wrapped in prosciutto. The entrees we selected were two pasta dishes. The puttanesca was saltier than a puttanesca is(and, yes, we know they’re typically salty, what with the olives and anchovies), but still tasty. The spaghetti carbonara was good as well. Both dishes were good portions, and at around $ 15, a good deal since they include a small dinner salad. Service was fine: it may have been a little slower than in the dining room since we were seated at the only table in the bar area. It’s a good enough place: nothing outstanding, but tasty.

Love this place. Food is wonderful and they have a nice cozy bar with occasional live music. Portions are huge so you can probably share an entrée if you aren’t a «Hungry Man». Everything I have had there has been excellent. Need reservations on Friday or Saturday night.

Well let me start by saying if this had been my first visit to Osteria I would have never come back. This was our third visit and will be our last. Six of us went out to celebrate my husband’s birthday last night. My husband could have picked anywhere to go but he insisted on Osteria because he loves their Calamari over pasta. We had reservations and were seated on time. Our server took our drink order which was a bottle of wine and some iced teas and sodas. The wine came out right away but the other drinks seemed to have been forgotten. Usually at this point we would have been served bread with dipping oil and cheese but that was also forgotten(ours was apparently given to every other table around us). We ordered the grilled calamari appetizer with diced tomatoes, onions, etc(basically a bruschetta mix). The calamari was very tough and chewy and the tomatoes were hard and barely pink. Our salads came and the greens were fresh but I had the balsamic dressing which was almost all oil with only a hint of balsamic vinegar, bland and heavy tasting. My husband ordered chicken topped with crab meat, I had lobster ravioli topped with shrimp, scallops in a light cream sauce, the others at the table had steaks and fillet. The vegetable of the day was a mixed medley. My husbands chicken was bland and swimming in butter, my ravioli were tough and the scallops were equally as tough and very fishy tasting. My dish also looked as if it had been sitting around a while, the sauce on top of my ravioli was almost dried and the sauce underneath was runny. The vegetables were large chunks of carrots, zucchini, broccoli and cauliflower just steamed with no seasoning. The other folks in our party did enjoy their steaks and fillet and they seemed to be cooked to perfection. Our server and waitstaff were less than attentive as our water glasses sat empty for most of the meal and those of us who orderd iced tea and sodas were never asked if we wanted refills. However my water glass was refilled finally when the check was delivered. Three of us ordered dessert, Chocolate cake and tiramisu. We were told the tiramisu was homemade, but it was very average. The chocolate cake was soggy and wet on the bottom as if it had been frozen and then thawed out in a microwave. Our visit was VERY disappointing. We wasted over $ 200.00 on bad service and a mediocre meal. Save your money and skip Osteria.
