Went to Randy’s last week in the later morning. We had been there quite a few times prior and had good service and decent food. This last time was a completely different experience. When we went in a server told us to sit wherever we wanted, so we chose a booth on the lower tier. And then we sat there… for 15 minutes. No water, no menus, no service whatsoever. Servers saw us, but continued to do other things(wrapping silverware in a napkin, etc…). After 15 minutes we decided to leave. I approached a server and said, «we waited for 15 minutes and no one helped us». Her response, «that’s unfortunate» Huh? No apology, no attempt to make things right. My husband and I are pretty easy going, but the lack of service verged on rude. We prefer to go to locally owned businesses, but ended up at Denny’s that morning.

The food was excellent. Biscuits and gravy did not disappoint with the perfect texture and creaminess, and not too salty or watery. The omelette was well cooked and presented. Both portions were large. The only reason it is not a 5-star review is the service. Our server was friendly but we waited over 10 minutes for a hello or water glass. We then waited 35 minutes for our food after ordering.

Nice folks. Slow service. Food not warm when it arrives. If that’s your thing… this is the place for you!

I’m sorry Randy’s. Your food was terrible. Nothing tastes fresh. Green chile tasted like it came from a can. Home fries tasted half cooked and green. I tried drowning them in ketchup to get through it but it wasn’t possible and that was some cheap watery ketchup in those Heinz bottles. «Fluffy» eggs were dense and hard. The omelette filling was poured into one end of the omelette leaving the rest of the omelette just tough egg. And to top the omelette off with sour cream, the dollop was over the potatoes, not even touching the omelette. I’ll give the one star to the nice women working there.

For a standard breakfast/lunch place the food is exactly that standard. The reason I give the place a such a low rating is the service, if the place is at all busy expect a long wait to order and even a longer wait for your food because it seems the kitchen is easily overwhelmed. I have waited more than 30 mins several times just for the food and walked out once when I had been there for an hour with no food. I still go there but have very low expectations when I do.

A 3 at best. We’ve been to this location twice – the place wasn’t packed either time, there were open tables and we still waited a long while to be both greeted then seated. The service was unsurprisingly slow and the server undertrained. All this for standard, mostly pre-packaged diner food. It leaves a lot to be desired.

The list of compliments is too long… GOTHERE! Actually, we had so much fun and we were so impressed with the service and the food portion/presentation, we really can’t remember if the food was awesome or just good. We will definitely be back when we are in town next year and just might eat breakfast and lunch there daily; we kick ourselves for not trying this gem until the last day of our trip!

The gals are friendly here but a bit slow on the uptake. Took awhile for everything… Slow to seat, slow to coffee and slow to serve. The food was marginal and the prices are wonky. I had bacon eggs hash browns and toast. My boy have 2 eggs and bacon. His was a dollar less!!! WTF?

Probably a decent place if you’re friends with someone who works there? If you’re not, forget about getting any decent service. We waited over 15 minutes without even having a drink order taken, meanwhile couples and groups arriving after us would get their orders taken immediately while catching up with the staff. Combined with the dingy 90s sports bar look to the place, we won’t be coming back.

It’s a greasy spoon. Tasty and generous portions, good service. This is where you see the Cowboys and veterans, bikers and roughnecks, old folks and good olé boys go. I like the breakfast Burrito with country gravy. The burgers are very good. I have never had anything bad here.

Have had only one meal here, but it was great. I had the ground round meal. I asked for it to be cooked medium rare. I’d say it was more like medium, but it was juicy and tender(sometimes burger steaks can be more like leather, this one wasn’t). It was wrapped in plenty of bacon and topped with deliciously grilled red onions. It was served with Texas Toast(meh) and a choice of side. I had a perfectly fine salad, with dressing on the side(didn’t even have to ask). The service was excellent. I found the waitress to be fun and informative. When my husband was going to get a BLT, she said — really? You don’t want to try the BLATT(a BLT with turkey and avocado). Now, you could take this in a bad way — reading what I wrote. But, with her personality and inflection — you just had to laugh. And — he got the BLATT and loved it. Atmosphere is very relaxed. Service was quick and the food was very tasty. Ground round may not sound exciting — but the flavor was there!

One of my favorite places for breakfast. The room is plentiful so you are not cramped. Wait staff at times can be a little slow, but they are friendly.

We’ve started going to Randy’s in Clifton on a regular basis. Food is good service is TERRIBLE. It’s usually pretty crowded but to wait 50 mins after you order is ridiculous. Would recommend if you’re not in a hurry/starving

The food is standard diner food, most of which looks/tastes pre-made, not fresh or homemade. Not bad but not special either. We’ve been to both locations and would probably go back if the service wasn’t so slow and inattentive. For what the food lacks they could make up for with great service.

There are two Randy’s Southside Diners in the greater Grand Junction area. Both are locally owned and operated by the Emmons family. One is on Highway 50, the other is on Business I-70 in Clifton, on the east edge of Grand Junction. Randy’s Southside Diner in Clifton is in a former sports bar. This results in an unusual, but very pleasant seating arrangement. The interior is like a stadium, with three levels of seating. The width and length of each level makes it tough to jam in a lot of tables. Fortunately the owners decided to not fight the architecture and the result is a spacious table arrangement providing some distance, privacy, and reduced noise level from table to table. Upon arrival we were seated promptly on the middle level. The restaurant was about half full at that time. The menu is extensive with a wide variety of selections of breakfast, lunch and supper dishes. We chose a Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Curly Fries and a bowl of Homemade Beef Vegetable Soup, and Randy’s Southside Chicken sandwich with a Dinner Salad. The grilled cheese had a nice amount of American cheese(other types were available), nice chewy sourdough bread, and a tasty buttery crust from the grilling. The curly fries were crispy and tasty. The soup was rich, dense, and loaded with beef and veggies. The grilled chicken sandwich was a nicely grilled marinated chicken breast with a moist interior. It was coated in a chutney, in this case a sweet tangy sauce reminiscent of «duck sauce» at a Chinese restaurant. And it was topped with jack cheese before being placed in a good sized bun. It was saucy enough to be messy to eat by hand, easy to eat with knife and fork. The combination of the grilled chicken, the sauce, and the bun, was very satisfying and a change of pace from other chicken sandwiches. The dinner salad was basic(chopped lettuce, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese and choice of dressing), but was generous and went well with the sandwich. Stephanie was our waitress and was a delight. She was attentive, informative, and paid attention for opportunities to make suggestions or offer things such as Ranch dressing for the fries and extra napkins for the sandwich. Her professionalism and good sense of humor added to the total experience. I am looking forward to going back and trying their Ground Round — 8 ounces of ground steak wrapped in bacon, grilled and topped with grilled onions. Sounds delicious!

Breakfast is awesome. I have never had a bad breakfast from either of the locations. I would probably skip the burger. It is not horrible, but it is a food service pre made patty. Great service.

This is about the Randy’s diner on US50 south of Grand Junction in Orchard Mesa. I have never gone to the Clifton location just because the experience at this one has been so good. This is becoming our routine stop for breakfast each Saturday. The build your own omelet is my wife’s choice. I love the hash and eggs. No pureed meat from canned hash, but real chunks of real beef, shredded coarsely just like Mom did with Sunday roast leftovers. If you like your grits smooth, they are very good here as well. For breakfast or lunch this is a great place. The waitresses are superb, and work together so well.

Was surprised how good the food was, although you feel like you are eating in a bar. Coffee was great!!!
