Best restaurant ! They have secret menus which are really good. I highly recommend their katsu don and sashimi.

It was my third time visiting Toya tonight and I really really enjoy dining here. Not only they are so warm and welcoming, but the sashimi /sushi is bar far the best I have ever had so far in this area! The price is also very reasonable(not mention they always give you extra piece for free or free side dishes), I will definitely recommend you to come here if you like sushi/sashimi like I do ! 5 stars for sure !!!

Finally the real Japanese sushi and wonderful experience. After traveling in Japan, this is it, right here in cliffside park. If you sit at the bar, you can watch the craft of this great chef rolling your sushi and creating delicious plates. Customer service was above and beyond, they make you feel home and welcome even when we walked in late at night. We got the basic sushi rolls, you can taste how fresh the fish is, and we got some delicious tastings on the house, that’s the benefits of seating at the bar :) This is a very small place but don’t pass on a real delicious Japanese experience, you may dine in or order to go. One thing I’ll mention is one of the regular customers called in and order, when he got there, he had the table all setup with a delicious plate waiting for him yummy and fresh, VIP style. We need more places like this around here. Enjoy!

We don’t get up to this area that often, but next time we do we’ll be back! Enjoyed a very nice meal here with my wife recently. Lots of interesting things on the menu to choose from. We started with miso soup, salad and the tori-no-tatsuta-age(marinated fried chicken). We were also served some on-the-house«extras» such as homemade potato salad and marinated okra. My wife had assorted sashimi(including very tasty monkfish liver) while I ordered oyako don(donburi rice bowl with chicken, egg, onions & scallions) for my main course. Thoroughly enjoyed the food & warm service… this Asahi’s for you, Todd!

This is a restaurant well worth a 4 star. The food menu is simple and good. Only downside is that the open kitchen and the back does not look as clean as expected. Again, the chef and workers are nice and the food is great but little downside is the cleanness.

I am a regular customer of this restaurant and on the days that I go, I don’t even look at the printed menu anymore. They pride themselves on daily specials that are unique and very healthy. They now have a guest sushi chef for Friday and Saturday night dinner. The fish is very fresh and just melts in your mouth. I look forward to the surprises on the menu, each time that I go.

I am a lover of udon(& now jap ramen. get to that later). I love fried chicken too. This is where I come to indulge in this heavenly combo. The fried chicken is on the appetizer menu. It is $ 6.50 or so and comes quite simply. Pieces of perfectly fried(thinly.breaded I think?) white chicken meat complemented by no nonsense salad on the side. For me the chicken is just the right amount of saltiness and pepperiness. I cry a little when I think about it. The nabeyaki udon is what I imagine udon to be like were I to eat in japan. It is brought out looking oh so perfect I usually stare at it for a while before I dig in. There are no unnecessary ingredients in the dish. No chopped up mess of blah veggies that take away from the comforting soup. Price is $ 12 I think? No more than I would pay elsewhere in jersey. The ramen is tricky. They become(?) «Hana ramen» during weekend lunch. I’ve yet to make it during this time. I heard they may discontinue I dunno. Anyhow I had their ramen for saturday dinner a few times(not on menu, ask before you go).it’s really good! The noodles were cooked perfectly and the broth was heavenly. I had the salt ramen with chicken broth. The pork belly was thick and generous. They give you crunchy garlic bits that you can add which was yummm. Also the bowl it came in was visually exciting too! The ramen price is on par with mitsuwa in edgewater. I think the portions are in fact better and quality is far superior. My first japanese ramen experience was at mitsuwa many yearrs ago and although quite good, the oiliness and ‘instant food bloating’ always made me regret eating it. After eating it at toya I’ve developed a new found love for it and so far i’ve yet to find a better place. Toya may have a small menu but what they have they do well. To be honest I always order the same thing so can’t speak for other dishes. The chef and owner are crazy friendly in that polite japanese way. :) I really love their unadulterated cooking and simple, clean dishes! Oh and it’s byob.
