Finally, Good sushi place around here! We went there last night and food was great! They did not have a waiter that day so Sushi chef served us. He was so kind and wonderful. Place was beautifully decorated, reminds me manhattan~which we don’t go anymore after having a toddler. It might not be as fancy as some places in the city but it is a great alternative for us since I don’t have to wonder half hour try to find a parking spot in the city and I just don’t have time to go there anymore. Actually I got the meter parking right in front of restaurant and that meter needed only 25cent PER1HOUR! which is another plus~ Anyway, I will give 5 stars for sure and I highly recommend to anyone. Oh, and I sooooo disagree with some comments about price. Yes, It is not a cheap place but if you want cheap, Go Mitsuwa and get sushi there. Why would you go fancy restaurant and not expect to pay that? it is not expensive for quality of food and services that they provide.

I really enjoyed the food. The specialty martini was delicious. I pretty much ate ½ the menu, being only small plates. The chocolate ice cream for dessert we split, was yummy. Watch out how many plates you order. By the end of night dinner for 2 and 1dessert, 1 martini, 1 tap beer cost $ 120. Add $ 25 tip total $ 145, and I was still hungry. :(

Well we just finished our first and LAST takeout meal from Bushido. This place is WAY overpriced and all of the portions were INCREDIBLY small & not very tasty, the rolls were falling apart, the chicken was greasy… the only reason I gave it 1 star is the guy on the phone that took my order was very nice. This place does not live up to the name«Bushido» The way of the warrior, their code of honor. Very disrespectful to the samurai. Save your $$$ and go elsewhere, there are so many other places in the area…

I went on May 8, 2012 with my fiancé. Food is ok but extremely overpriced. We ordered a $ 12 steak plate and got three tiny pieces of ribs. Total bill for two was $ 150. Service Is fair though I thought a little slow given the place was rather uncrowded. The décor was nice/different. Jazz music playing with a sort of hippy feel. They did not honor the Unilocal checking offer. We will likely not return.

We just went on Sunday night for my mother-in-laws birthday. We loved it. We ordered it all that night to celebrate… tuna tartar, soft shell crab, spicy tuna, chilean seabass, shumai, crispy lobster roll, shrimp tempuar, lobster salad, mussels, etc. Then we topped it off with some delicious sundaes and chocolate truffle cake. I’m getting hungry again just thinking about it.

In response to Karen H who is an employee of Bushido bar. yes. it IS customary for a sushi chef to serve food DIRECTLY to a customer. But it it NOT customary for him to THROW it at a customer on a plate which previously had sushi on it… and tell a customer to go to another restaurant. Neither the chef Mr Suzuki or the owner Mr Hamade have any balls as neither would address the situation at the time. You are a POOR excuse for a business. And I would strongly advise customers to BEWARE of this restaurant so you are not treated the same way. That is what Unilocal is for. Good and BAD reviews. In this case. EXTREMELYBAD… Just look at the photos of the sushi served. the rolls are falling apart. That’s what 17 years of experience gets you…

My boyfriend and I drove past this place a few times but finally decided to try it last night. When we walked in around 9pm the place was virtually empty aside from a couple of people at the bar. The owner of the place seated us at a table and proceeded to recommend all of the most expensive dishes on the menu, which I found to be in bad taste. We started off our meal with the udon noodles which were absolutely delicious. We then got an order of garlic grilled wings. There were only 3 wings in the order which was offensive considering they cost $ 8. You would assume these wings would be delicious however they were extremely oily and seemed fried instead of grilled. We then ordered spicy salmon rolls and spicy yellowtail scallion rolls. The sushi was ok but was not as spicy as it should have been. Overall I found Bushido to be overpriced and disappointing.

Like it says here on Unilocal and on Bushido’s website«the restaurant is eclectic, combining the old and the new.» This is not your new found $ 19.99AYCE spot in Bergen County. I was a big fan of what Charles Hamade and Company were doing at Wild Ginger in Englewood and am happy that they found a great new home in Cliffside Park. Wife and I loved ordering Japanese inspired food tapas style aka izakaya style. We probably shared 10+ dishes. Spicy salmon tartare Southern oysters on the half shell with maui onion salsa Eel tempura roll Shrimp tempura roll Ika uni(sea urchin wrapped with squid) Broiled squid with ginger sauce Black cod yaki Pork and veggie dumplings Tatsuta-age…fried chicken bites Yaki nasu(eggplant with walnut miso sauce) Mango and coconut ice cream sundae(normally green tea ice cream) I might be missing a dish or two. The highlights were the yaki nasu, black cod yaki, the oysters and that dessert!!! Service is very friendly and helpful.

I had been passing by Bushido for weeks as I routinely drove a co-worker home from the office I work at. I couldn’t help but slow my car down in order to take notice of this small restaurant that looks out-of-place in a town like Cliffside Park. The restaurant’s large front windows showcase the eye-catching, giant glass bubble chandelier that hangs in the center of the restaurant, clearly visible from Palisades Avenue. After doing some homework, I learned that the owner and chef had a somewhat known status after opening up a Japanese restaurant in Englewood, which was known for it’s fresh sushi. I called ahead and made reservations for two people on a Saturday. We arrived just as the restaurant opened up for dinner at 5 pm. It is a small but comfortable space, and I adored the white tin tiles on the ceiling and dark streaked walls throughout. It was very early so we were the only customers there but I had hoped that in the evening hours business was better. Their menu consists of small plates which I enjoyed because it allowed me to taste many different items, but there are no real entrees on their menu. If you are looking for a restaurant where you want to feel full after eating one dish, this is not the place for you. Overall, I ordered 4 plates: ~Lobster roll: not much flavor but it was fresh and I loved the large piece of lobster on top of each piece of sushi ~Scallop roll: very bland but every piece had a nice fresh scallop on top ~Udon Noodle Soup: the best I’ve ever had. The noodles were so flavorful. ~Softshell Seashore(Fried Soft-Shell Crab in Dry Sake Sauce): amazing! It had a nice crunch to it and the combination of the sake sauce and crab was wonderful. We shared a glass of plum wine, which I’d never had before. I thought it smelled and tasted like a fruit roll-up. My friend claimed it was the best he had ever had. Throughout the meal, we talked to our waiter and I met the owner, Charles Hamade, who at one point, sent over a sample of a cocktail they were creating that night. If I can remember correctly, I think it had ginger, vodka, and peach purée in it. Normally I’m not crazy about ginger but it was very good. Bottom Line: Bushido met my expectations. While the sushi could use a little more flavor, the sushi chef is known for a subtle yet fresh approach to his food. Aside from that, if you are looking to try something new, this is the place to go.

Foods are not fresh here. Very weird decoration with vulgar cabaret-type atmosphere inside which did not inspire my appetite at least. Besides, as being a Japanese myself, these are not authentic Japanese foods(FYI: I heard this chef does not like Japanese to come to this place). Menu with so many typo errors and etc. Just cross GWB and go to NYC if you crave for real Japanese food. You make your own decision.

Been wanting to visit this place since it was formerly a disappointing Izakaya spot that I’m glad closed and was replaced by Bushido. Was immediately impressed with the Huge Chihuly chandelier hanging in the main room. Japanese Tapas and Sushi were all excellent, Black Cod was great as was the Makimono selections. Sushi and Sashimi was fresh and very well prepared. Bartender made a killer Manhattan, Sake selection could get better. One ditsy waitress was the only complaint, but after a couple of drinks, who cares. Will be back

Took my wife here and the food was sensational! I especially liked the waiter, Steven. He was very informative, attentive, and kind. He suggested a few rolls and hot items that tasted out of this world. I highly recommend this place if you want great service and excellent japanese cuisine. Don’t forget to try the wines, and also chocolate truffle cake for dessert. Bravo.
