Amazing atmosphere, super nice and helpful staff, one of the best beer selections in the area!

Friend who goes to Case Western suggested we try this place. Loved it! The menu is just beer. That is it. ONLY beer and only GOOD beer. They even have little beer education on the bottoms of some of the pages. Explain different types of beers, how they’re made, where they’re from, etc. Pretty interesting! It’s a BYOF place… which I had never seen before. Bring your own FOOD. I thought that was really funny actually. I love places that are SO confident, they can make bold statements like that. i.e. «Our beer is so good, you won’t even need to order food. Trust us.» The server was great. I have never met a bartender who was so eager for you to ask him for suggestions. I just described what I was in the mood for. I said I was looking for a dark stout, creamy, not too high-alcohol(cause I had to drive). He said«Got it!» handed me a beer I did not recognize and had never had before… and it was delicious! If you’re a beer guy, definitely check this place out!

Cleveland Beer Cellars is similar to the concept of the World of Beer in Lakewood. It is a chain that serves only drinks and outside food is encouraged. Some people may be turned off by that idea. I don’t mind. The beer book is pretty impressive. It is broken up by style which makes finding your preferred beer an easier task. The staff was very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. They had a couple beers by Three Floyds which is one of my favorite breweries. I thought the prices were maybe a dollar or so too high on certain offerings. Good margins are probably needed to pay for what I am assuming is high rent cost. This area is fast becoming a fun weekend destination. Once Happy Dog opens up this will be a heck of a bar hop. An added plus is that it is still within Cleveland city limits so no Cleveland Heights police will be involved!

Anywhere that has St. Bernardus Abt 12 on draft is instantly one of my favorite places. The inside is clean and sports bar-y with tons of seating for large and small groups. The service has always been fast and attentive. On certain nights(weekends, maybe special occasions?) they have had a band playing and that definitely livens up the place! The bottle list is so massive they have to put it in a spiral bound menu. They have a huge draft list, too — but, and this isn’t just something going on with them, why so few Belgians?! I asked them about it and they said that(out of 40-ish drafts) they were going to only have one quad on draft. Seriously?! ONE. And like 25 IPAs. Now, I know all the«real» beer drinkers are going to kill me for this but, Cleveland, we(I?) need more variety in the TYPES of beer, not just the brands. I’m not going to fault them for that, though — the place is still great and they still have my favorite beer on draft.

This is a great place to just grab a beer after work or to spend a whole night out. Such a large beer selection and the staff is knowledgeable and ready to help you make decisions! Just be aware there is no food here, but many local restaurants deliver — so everyone in your party can order whatever they want! Definitely check this place out!

This place has an incredible beer selection, ranging from domestic craft brews to exotic imports like Hitachino Nest White Ale, which I’ve not seen anywhere else in Cleveland. Unlike many places with a long beer list, the bartenders are incredibly knowledgable and offer great recommendations. The staff is also eager to offer samples of anything on tap. It’s a bit odd that no food is on offer, though as other Unilocalers note, they encourage you to bring your own from any of the nearby fast food places, so in the end it isn’t a deal-breaker. Apparently, there’s live music some nights, but the setup is a bit weird, with DJs and bands apparently relegated to a barely-visible upper level balcony. Overall, Cleveland Beer Cellars attracts a nice crowd that’s a combination of young professional types and students from Case. Parking can be a challenge, but that’s to be expected in this neighbourhood.

This is an awesome addition to the area. The beer selection is so expansive, that I really can’t handle making decisions here. I either just look at the taps(and even then, I get overwhelmed) or I ask someone else to make the decision for me. The service is great(it helps that my husband comes here a lot and already knows everyone pretty well), efficient, and willing to help – I think they know the dilemma everyone is faced with requires some patience on all sides. They’re also very willing to work with you on a decision and let you sample things before making a commitment to a weird brew. The only thing I’m a little weirded out by is the lack of food. I’m food obsessed, and I understand the desire to just focus on the beer in a place like this, but I just can’t bring myself to feel comfortable bringing outside food into an establishment. I feel like I’m doing something wrong, offensive, and unfair!

This is a great place near Case Western in Uptown. I have spent a lot of time at the Winking Lizard, and never thought I would find a place with a larger beer selection. My bartender was very knowledgeable about the beer selection, and the menus even explain the different types of beer. I start with a few great stouts, and then try some of their mixed beers. I really loved the chocolate covered banana mix. It’s well lit, and very welcoming. They even offered some free tastes from the taps. I just wish they had some type of food I could snack on, but they said I could bring my own food.
