I came last Sunday for a snack(a chicken breast with two sides) and I knew that I had to come back for a meal. I came back today for lunch and I had a half chicken with two sides and an empanada, this place is great! The theme is Latin… more like South American style. The owner is Bolivian but she doesn’t claim her restaurant as Bolivian, she says that her limited menu consists of dishes shared by many Latin American countries: Tasty marinated chicken rotisserie, Fried yucca, Plantains(sweet and green), fried cheese, Quinoa and beans, rice and beans, empanadas… and two sauces: the green and the yellow-ish, The green is hot(jalapeño based) and the yellow-ish is Mayo/Mustard, and you are supposed to alternate as your palate demands it. I like that they have the San Pellegrino sodas, I tried the Pomegranate/orange one… good! The place is very cozy with dark wood tables and the meal is served in a bigger than normal sized tray so you don’t have to mix your leftover bones with the rest of your meal. if you’re not into bone-type-food, there are a lot of vegetarian side dishes that can make an interesting meal. I would even say that this place could be a romantic spot with the good quality food, nice ambiance and cool music in the background. Imagine that you mash Boston Market, Pollo Tropical and Bonefish Grill together and you get rid of the fish… that’s what you’ll get at Pico Rojo. My lunch was $ 20 including tip.

Fried yucca was a must try. Flan was not smooth as it should be. The lady was very nice and friendly.

Great Find in Hidden Spot The strip shopping center at the southwest corner of McMullen-Booth & Enterprise has provided some very nice eating. If you can find your way back there, add Pico Rojo Rotisserie to Laziz and Thai Spice as fun, casual and interesting dining. Pico Rojo’s main thing is grilled chicken and they do it very well. The chickens they use aren’t those massive birds probably pumped up with water and chemicals. They look like real chickens that most of the world eats. We also really enjoyed the sides. The plantains we got were nicely caramelized on the outside with just a bit of crunchiness – perfect. We were also surprised to be able to get fresh and beautiful green beans and asparagus. It’s hard enough to get good, fresh vegetables in fancier restaurants so it was a welcome surprise at this casual eatery. Counter service was friendly and helpful and prices were reasonable. I’m a fan.

I went here with my husband to take food home and just watch tv. It was our first time and the staff was friendly and explained the menu. The food took a bit, but thats alright. We ordered the whole chicken meal. When we opened it up at home I was shocked at how small the chicken was and the size of the side items. For the money it was not worth it. Food was pretty tasty though.

If you were to ask me to describe this place in one word, it would be «Tasty». If you were then to ask me to describe this place in two words, it would be «Taste E». Finally, if you said, «Warren, describe this place in three words», I would have to reply«Taste E E». Their near perfect rating is well deserved. I walked in for an early lunch, and decided that I needed the Half Chicken Meal(dark), which came with my choice of two sides. I chose the fried yucca and fried cheese. My food was delivered a short time later, and I started with the chicken. It was moist, tender, and seasoned deliciously. The green sauce that accompanied the chicken was also full of wholesome goodness. The fried yucca was on point, and the fried cheese was also a delight. The place was clean, the service was fast, I felt the food was a good value, and I left full. I will see you again, Pico Rojo.

The chicken is fantastic. Comes right off the bone and full of flavor. So good, I returned a few days later and ordered enough to have lunch the next day.

After recommendations from fellow Unilocalers, I gave this place a try. We got the whole chicken with fried yuca, tostones, sweet plantains, and green beans to go. They were all delicious. The chicken was falling off the bone and incredibly moist. It had great flavor, and I am not talking about just salt. The tostones were big crisp, the yuca fries were nice and crisp, the sweet plantains were perfectly cooked, and the green beans still had a nice bite to them. Why 4 instead of 5 stars? I find their side portions a bit skimpy. Either way, great recommendation. I will be back.

Good ingredients, simply made but absolutely fantastic Latin food or for a good chicken + salad meal. Heavily impressed.

Who knew this Latin American gem was hiding in an otherwise boring strip mall? We went late at night, but the service and food were still on point! Not a huge fan of the sauces since one is an über-spicy jalapeño and the other is mayo-based, but I don’t think you really need the sauce anyway. The chicken is perfectly seasoned and they know what they’re doing. I’m also a sucker for sweet plantains, so I was happy. To the Nut-Free Peeps: They use peanut oil for all of their fried items!

The menu here includes healthier fare and the main course being their charcoal cooked chicken(indoors somehow) that cooks up juicy and with great flavor. The sides are all of high quality and good portions which means this restaurant is not priced like fast food but you get what you pay for, its all really good. Plantains cooked just right and crispy on the outside, love the steamed asparagus and the string beans also. There are also rice, beans, steak fries(cooked in peanut oil), quinoa and other sides and each chicken meal includes 2 sides. They do have a few sandwiches made from their chicken and several meal salads and empanadas, don’t forget deserts too. Never had a bad meal here.

Excellent lunch spot. Food is great. My favorite thing on the menu is the yucca fries. With the green sauce and the mayonnaise based sauce. Yum!!! The rotisserie chicken is so juicy and delicious.

Ahhh finally tried Pico Rojo today accompanied with the Pico Rojo Greek Goddess expert Sofia, and drum roll please… Loved it!!! Chicken was great, moist and flavorful. I love the white chicken meat, and picked the ½ chicken and chose two chicken breast. My sides were asparagus and fried cheese. My hubby had the same but had the fried yuca and sweet plantains. The fried yuca was my favorite side. The creamy dipping sauce is good and your chicken will melt in your mouth and your taste buds will be doing cart wheels. The green sauce is spicy. I tried to kill the spice with the creamy sauce, didn’t work. Sangria, thanks to Sofia, was do good. It made me super mellow and relaxed. Love & Peace man!!! I love this chill and comfy atmosphere. Order at the front, and they will bring your food to you. They have different drinks like Inca Cola, Coconut Water, Aloe Water, Malta, and sodas. Good variety. Yes, I’ll be back. They have one table outside too. Enjoy their super wonderful chicken, sides, salads, sandwiches inside and out!!!

I’m very pleased with finding this little place. Wanted someting Latin American and saw this place had good reviews. While the menu is pretty small, if you’re looking for some good chicken, this is the place. If you get a chicken meal, it comes with two sides and is the best deal for the money. My girlfriend got the meal with black beans and rice and sweet plantains. I got the Pico Rojo Chicken Sandwich with fried yucca. The chicken was so well-cooked that it was almost creamy(?) and the yucca was excellently fried. The house sauce goes well with everything. I also had a dessert empanada which was a wonderful mix of salty, fried, and sweet. If you want a good, $ 10 chicken lunch, go for the main meal, and avoid the pricey extra sides and desserts(though they are all good!).

We were shockingly unimpressed with their chicken, which I’m shocked about given the Unilocal reviews. Our sandwich didn’t have much meat and the chicken was dry. Maybe it was just an off day given the many other great reviews.

One Word… FLAVOR! After my first bite, I literally bulldozed right through it. Besides everything being awesome on the plate, I was really surprised with the green beans. At first when I ordered and sat down I thought damn, I ordered greens beans. Blah! Why did I order those?! Sigh *eyeroll* They are usually a flavorless vegetable when served at a restaurant, but I was really trying to eat on the healthier side today. Well, as soon as I took a bite I was pleasantly surprised. They had a nice crisp to them still, with butter, garlic and sea salt sprinkled on top. I ate them one by one with my fingers:-) Loved them. The chicken, even though I ordered white, was so easy to pull apart soft, still moist and full of flavor. I even ate most of the skin, it was so good, and I never do that. Quinoa w/black beans is a nice healthier option, and yucca fries… Lovely. Everything was steaming hot, fresh. This might just become one of my favorite places. I ate everything with my hands and it was not a pretty sight. I was so impressed about how great everything was that I forgot to wash them before I left, and I’m not even annoyed that they smell like a smoky rotisserie chicken right now . UPDATE: After eating here numerous times, the only thing I haven’t been crazy about as a side is the beans and rice. Not the best side. Don’t say I didn’t warn you:-) it’s the only thing in this place that doesn’t have any flavor

Like Sunday at my Mothers house in Argentina where we would always pick up rotisserie chicken and sides –Latin style! The chicken here was well seasoned and moist, excellent yucca fries(which were as good as other reviewers mentioned) and asparagus. Nice place for a family lunch, friendly service and a clean quaint dining area. All the sides looked delicious! Next time I’m going to try the empanadas as an appetizer and the alfajores for dessert. Nice Latin family style restaurant with a nice home feel to it. We will definitely come back with the entire family next time!

This place feels like a local secret and delivers on taste and value! Their big sell point is the charcoal grilled chicken and it really is excellent. Most meal options are based on the chicken– whole chicken, white meat only, dark meat only. The sides are awesome as well. Black beans and quinoa and tostones are my favorite. Sometimes, we come in just for the sides, which could very easily be a whole meal. Their salads aren’t my favorite as most of the combinations seem a little odd. I’d suggest sticking with the basics. The restaurant is very reasonably priced and is perfect for a midweek, fast-casual meal or takeout.

My boyfriend and I tried this for lunch because it had meat stuff for him and two(2!!) vegetarian options for me. We love Spanish food so we were excited to try this place. It did not deliver for me or him. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and said it was dry. I ordered Yungas and all that is the following side dishes: two(2!) super small plantains, some beans, rice, fried cheese and a pile of diced tomatoes. THAT’s IT! See the pic below for yourself! And the tomatoes were just plain — they didnt even come with salt! I mean, dang — you can’t make the effort to turn those tomatoes into salsa?!? There were not very many beans and that’s where I get my protein but the whole meal was so puny I had to stop for something else to eat.

I’m reviewing Pico Rojo immediately after my first meal there. Omg, I’m slapping myself for not going there sooner! I got the white mean quarter chicken with steak fries and green beans. The chicken was super juicy and had great flavor. The steak fries were out of this world, and the green beans were made with garlic. All very delicious and fresh! Every meal comes with two complimentary sauces. Both amazing. The gentlemen who took my order(to go order) was super helpful and walked me through the menu. Great service! Lots of gluten free options! Can’t wait to go back!!!

¡Qué bueno! It was my first all-natural restaurant here in Florida, and I was actually pleased with the service I received there. You see, I’m deaf myself, and the guy at the cashier took time to make sure I understand the menu, recommended me certain things from the menu, how dipping can be used, and, most importantly, smiled! I ordered a take-out meal, and I was amazed at the texture and taste of a mixture cup of Quinoa and black beans! Quarter pound of chicken was tasty! Asparagus was another side to my meal and simply delicious! I wished I ordered HALF pound chicken! One-thumb up! Azael
