Came in on Friday night but got seated right away. The atmosphere was a little noisy but the place has a good neighborhood vibe even though they’re in a mall. I ordered the short ribs entrée which came with miso soup and salad. My date ordered the oyakodon which came in a large bowl. Also got the spicy crab roll. The food was above average and the portions big, but the ribs were a bit over cooked. We wrapped it all up with a mango mochi for dessert. It’s your standard mochi — but their presentation was almost an artwork. Compliments to the chef for setting the bar on all my future mochi encounter! Service is great, thanks to Fernando.

Came here to have happy hour since we were not as hungry. Great deals on happy hour. As we entered, we were greeted hello. The restaurant is fairly small and there is limited seating. Luckily, there was a booth for the three of us in the back. The décor was red and black. You see three big flat screen televisions in the restaurant. Once we got seated, we were given the happy hour menu and a regular menu to look at. I got an iced water to drink. I also ordered some California rolls and mixed tempura. Hubby orders our daughter chicken fried rice, and sesame chicken and gyoza. My California rolls were good. Great texture with more crab filling inside. The mixed tempura consists of one shrimp, sweet potatoes, carrots and broccoli covered in a light crisp batter. It was very good. I also got to sample the gyoza which tasted baked. It was good but could have been cooked more. The sesame chicken was soft and tender. Everything we had was good. Our waiter refilled our drinks as soon as he saw they were empty or half empty. The only thing I disliked was how small the restaurant was. They also do not have public restrooms. This place would be better if it was larger in space. Overall, a good experience with good food.

I loved the food that I ordered. I ordered the veggie rolls and the veggie yakisoba. It’s was so delicious!!! The only bad thing was that it took forever was getting the silverware but it happens.

Terrible wait time and there was only one other family in here with us that ordered after. Took literally an hour for my food to come out. Nigiri portions were small compared to the expensive prices. Other great sushi places in SD.

This was a complete Unilocal find and worked out well for us. Unisushi was a good spot because we happened to be staying four blocks away. You’ll find plenty of parking in the mall lot, but you might have to get a little lucky finding a table as the restaurant is small. Weather permitting, there is some outdoor seating should no indoor seating be available. We were able to be seated immediately and received excellent service despite the restaurant being filled to capacity on a Saturday night. My wife ordered a California roll($ 5.25, she’s an adventurous sushi eater) and the chicken teriyaki($ 10.95) entrée which comes with soup and salad. I had the 10 piece sushi combo($ 19.95) and the omakase roll($ 14.95). The combo was a nice selection of fresh fish with the majority of the fish being lighter flavored atop some well made sushi rice. The combo comes with a salad to start. The omakase roll was a delicious chef’s choice roll that wasn’t over-sauced with spicy scallop and salmon on the inside, and scallop, tuna, and red and black tobiko on the outside. It tasted as good as it looked visually. The rest of the sushi menu is standard rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and bowls. There are plenty of hot items, including soups– ramen and udon, teriyaki, curry, and yakisoba entrees. They have a happy hour that runs seven days a week in which you’ll get a dollar off the regular prices. Thank you Unilocal for not letting us down.

Located inside Chula Vista Center, this Is a decent spot to grab a bite while you’re shopping. Had the 4×4 combo with 4 pieces each of crunchy roll, rainbow, spicy tuna, and California rolls. At $ 11.95 it’s not a bad deal. Quality of the food is mediocre. Nothing spectacular, but not terrible either. The place is small and food takes a while, but it beats the chain restaurants or fast food. All in all I’ll be back, but won’t be making any special trips out there

First time at this place and I tried the SeaweedSalad. A bit different from the other Japanese Resto that I’ve been. I was looking for ginger at the side but none given.

Wow. Who would of thought the Chula Vista mall would have a great sushi joint! Very impressed. Husband and I decided to give this place a try and were blown away. The flavor was definitely there. My husbands only critic would be to perfect the sushi rice. The rice would fall apart when picking up and not holding well. Other than that very good.

The food was decent but there was a slight language barrier since we don’t speak Spanish. I asked if they had hot mustard and the guy says, yes and then comes back to give me mayonnaise. I asked for vegetables tempura and he tried to give me meat. Getting a drink refill wasn’t happening, nor having him get us a to go box or more than one napkin per customer. With so many other sushi places around we’ll be skipping this one.

Delish! Fresh, tasty and close to home. Only reason I didn’t give it a 5 is the mall location sometimes a bit hard to get in and out but a 5 on the food! 5 on the service and display. Clean and comfortable! Lots of seating at the bar!

I LOVE my Unilocal family! They always steer me in the right direction and once again, the reviews have prevailed. I’ve been visiting San Diego since 1998 and this is the best sushi place in Chula Vista I have yet to come across. Everything was super fresh and the prices were very reasonable. The portions are also very generous. I couldn’t even eat my entire lunch special(the«A» selection). It isn’t the largest restaurant and I was a little leery when I saw that it was on the perimeter of the Chula Vista Mall, but get past all of that, it is DELICIOUS!

Excellent spot for sushi! I came in and was greeted by Wendy. She was a real joy. She was really nice and answered all my questions. I ended up going with the California roll. I’m no sushi expert but it was excellent. They have everything you need from every kind of sushi to hot foods to beer! The décor was really nice. There was two bar areas to seat plenty of people as well as tables and booths. This place is great for a date or even if your just by yourself and want some great sushi. Excellent customer service– you get to watch them make your sushi when your sitting at the bar. The man who made mine was nice and funny too. They constantly checked on me and asked if I needed anything. I will definitely return for my sushi needs!

Tempura roll C – GETIT. Thank you to the staff for letting me replace the salmon skin roll as it was a little dry to me.

Delicious! Moderately priced, but the quality food and friendly staff make it worth it. The miso soup was yummy — plenty of tofu and seaweed! We also ordered pan fried gyoza, the sauce it came with was perfect. For sushi, I ordered a baked California roll and added jalapeño and cream cheese… Soooo good! Didn’t even need soy sauce. My husband ordered a langostino roll and killed it. We’ll definitely be coming back!

This place is amazing, so close to home, moderately priced and very welcoming. We ordered the basic crunchy roll and rainbow rolls, some gyoza and fried shrimp for appetizers. The gyoza always seems to vary in size everywhere I go but it always tastes delicious. My bf loved his shrimp lol brief but it’s what he said. Now the rolls, first off the chefs make them right in front of you which is always awesome, second they taste so fresh and last our order was served quickly. So with that… Our order came out to 30 and some change plus gratuity. That’s 2 people. 16 rolls. 2 appetizers 1 beer, 2 green teas. Idk but you, but that’s great to me! :) Enjoy.

The quality is amazing, hope they keep this high quality so it’s not because they just opened! The service was good About the menu and prices, sushi rolls are ok. Special rolls are about $ 10 each so I guess it’s good price(I’m used to go to Sushiya and they always have ½price offers so in comparison this place is more expensive) Something great is they have a long menu with a lot of choices and offers. We got the lunch menu option A and F which includes A) four pieces of four different rolls which makes a total of 16 pieces of excellent sushi. F) three handrolls: pretty big and amazing. Each lunch includes miso soup or small salad. Our total was $ 20,47 so very good! Keep it so good!
