was really excited about food from the home country and was in the area… only to find the place was closed. it’s lunchtime on a Wednesday, and it looked like it was out of business. no sign on the door. heading to Valero’s now!

Walked in and waited 5 min before anybody helped us. My dad had to call them out and even then they took their time. Then I noticed something crawling on the display case and I thought it was a moth that flew in but my dad pointed out that it was a baby roach. Babies mean mommies. Gross! Never coming here ever again.

I am rarely in this neighborhood so when I found myself on 3rd street I had to stop! My co-worker lives near here so lucky for me she randomly surprises me with chicken Siopao. I like to refer to them as chicken or pork buns! They are my favorite! This place doesn’t mess around they come by the half dozen and I think it’s 6 bucks plus tax. The flavor of the meat is perfectly sweet and they give a good portion of meat! Definitely recommend you stop by if you are in the area! They have hot food to go pancet, adobo, egg rolls, they also have your wide variety of baked goods sweet bread, cheese bread, cookies and sauces for sale.

First time going here and was very satisfied with the food. I ordered tapsilog during our sag stop from cycling. It was flavorful and the meat was very tender. The employees were very friendly and helpful. I didn’t get a chance to try out their pandesal or other bread but will definitely come back and try them out.

Uhhhhhhh I don’t know why everybody like and giving this place good ratings, maybe I went on the wrong time? Their shelves were mostly empty, went to go try it because of the good reviews and the pictures they posted here looks like they make fresh breads all the time like valerios bakery in sea food city. oh man was I disappointed even saw a fly flying inside the glass!!! where they put all the breads. Tried the baked siopao and it was no good, sorry. I end up going to valerios bakery in sea food city fresh panders and fresh cheese balls. I’ll give another star for the nice Filipino lady. Sorry but I had tasted better Filipino breads somewhere else.

I’m not filipino but was fortunate enough to be introduced to pan de sal and turron when I was a child. Star Bakery makes the best pan de sal and turron. I also fell in love with their Leche Flan. It’s soooo much better than the flan that is sold at local mexican stores. It ‘s even better than the cuban flan I used to eat growing up. I was also introduced to Bibingka(the one made with rice) and I have to say that Star Bakery does such a great job. Too bad Seafood City moved without Star Bakery. I think SB has a lot of quality goods and their prices are awesome. Plus, their customer service has always been friendly, making it a sweeter experience.

I love this bakery. Too bad that Seafood City moved to another location which makes this place a little out of the way to get all the sweet goodies I occasionally bought here… mostly for my co-workers.

I work at a flower-shop about a measly 5 minute walk away from here(damn temptation is close!) and with summer heating things up my filipina blood craves some good halo-halo. For those who don’t know what it is wikipedia states«Halo-halo(from Tagalog word halò, „mix“) is a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and evaporated milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served in a tall glass or bowl.» My definition: Delicious + Delicious + Ice = Epic Deliciousness. Their halo halo in particular has leche-flan, sweet beans, jellies, those white hard jellyish things?, ube, evaporated milk, and ice. Topped with a scoop of the filipino ice-cream of your choice. Big enough to fill two people, ALLFOR $ 4!!! The staff is friendly and very hardworking(assumed from the cacophony of sounds the kitchen makes when they are making my halo-halo) Definitely a good mom and pop business find! :)

Although I’m mexican, and my ancestors would like me to be digesting Pan Dulce. I’d rather be eating the Pan De Sal and UBE from this bakery! I simply LOVE it. When I want some good ol sugary carby goodness, I think of this place immediately. Great bakery, great staff, great prices. What more could I ask for? Maybe it should be closer to my house but it’s definitely worth the 3 minute drive! Haha… I LOVEYOUSTARBAKERY!

I have recently lost a few pounds and have subsequently gained them all back thanks to discovering this dangerously good bakery situated precariously close to home. Their bibingka is bombtastic and so is their pan de ube. I have loved everything I have bought here… which, as mentioned before, can be a bad thing :( Damn the deliciousness of Filipino baked goods! The bakery itself is kind of small and very plain. The ladies who work there are friendly. The baked goods are really inexpensive. I remember buying a lot of items for around $ 10. Note: There’s a $ 10 minimum for purchases made with a card.

I have been here quite a few times for lumpia. The shop owners always call to make sure I’m on my way so he or she depending who is there can fry them right before I get there. Nothing like fresh lumpia for a potluck. One time I got there and the chicken empanadas were fresh out of the oven. I took them to work they were gone in less then 20 minutes. Another one of my favorites is the chicken adobo bun? empanada? I can’t remember what it was called but it was awesome! I will definitely be back there. Actually tomorrow because I have to pick up lumpia for a potluck again! Thank you Star Bakery! Besos!

I had just got out of the gym and I was starving(like usual) and I had to eat something right away so I stopped by L&D Teriyaki Express right next door to Star Bakery and I had a great meal. Like always, I always need to have a dessert or a snack after a meal. So, look no further, Star Bakery to the rescue! Moments before, I was looking it up on Unilocal and there were two great reviews(the only two) to help me decide what was going to satisfy my belly. After asking the young lady several questions, I soon found out there was a $ 10 minimum for debit/credit transactions so I had to dig deep underneath my car seats to scrap up some change. I found 50 cents! So, I went back inside and I asked for the sweet buns with cream cheese which were only 50 cents each. Wow! I was beyond surprised. If this were to have been in any other location in downtown with a fancy name, it would of easily been about $ 3. The point is, I have no knowledge of bakery desserts, and especially Filipino desserts, but, I know enough that a cute mom & pop shop like this that is well stocked with goodies at low looow prices and great customer service deserves five stars. The actual sweet bun with cream cheese was soft, a bit sugary(in a good way) and delicious cream cheese inside was just what I needed. It was good! I will most defiantly stop by again and stock up on different types of desserts.

Gotta support your local mom & pop shops and, definitely, this place is one of them. It’s a tiny little bakery, located in the same shopping center, as Seafood City in Chula Vista. It’s cramped galore with Filipino baked goods and desserts. Amongst my favorite is the 6-pack of pork siopao for $ 5.50. Six giant buns for less than a buck a piece? STEAL! Not only that, they were still hot, when I got them! Also a new favorite, which I just bought for the first time today, was the sugar butter topped buns, stuffed with cream cheese. Ooooh, how I heart cream cheese. The dessert is not too sweet, soft and yummy. Good desserts, good prices and a great place to check out, when you crave some of your favorites Filipino desserts! =D
