Carnitas Las Michoacanas

This place is great. We got the 11.99 special for two but will easily feed 3 – 4 people. It consisted of a pound of carnitas, a side of rice and beans and about 15 warm and soft tortillas. Will definitely bring the family here.

This has become our new favorite spot. Whether you are taking it to go or dining in they won’t disappoint. The service is always fast and friendly. We have tried just about everything on the menu. Of course the hands down family favorite is their carnitas. My favorite however is their posole. It’s made differently than I am used to but it is amazing. Almost that of a tortilla soup.

We came here Saturday afternoon. There were only a couple other parties there so we got to choose where we wanted to sit. Condiments were brought out as soon as we sat down. After a brief look at the menu, we placed our order. The pound of carnitas came out not even minutes later with the rice and beans. I was very surprised at how quickly they served us. It’s a good place to go if you’re starving and want some good food really fast.
Our order of carne asada quesadilla came out a bit later. It was a very big portion with a lot of meat. Some places are skimpy, not this one!
I definitely recommend this place if you’re ever in the mood for carnitas. Good and fast service. What more can you ask for?

Great food, good service, reasonably priced, and the portions are huge. I’d give this place 5 stars if I didn’t reserve those only for amazing gems. I’m not even sure what would give this place 5 stars it’s really a 4.5 and the best pork I’ve had in south San Diego.

Wow! First let me start by saying they have the best Carnitas in the South Bay hands down & probably one of the best in all of SD! There’s no need to go to North Gate to pick up Carnitas to go, instead come here it costs less the portions are bigger & it taste better! I was never a big carnita person (most Mexicans are) but now I know it’s because I never had Carnitas like this!
I’ve been here 3 times most of the other food is good, had menudo it was good (make sure to ask for maiz in it) & a Milanesa torta & that was real good! Had a carne asada taco & chicken & they were ok but I’m in love with there Carnita Taco! They are very generous with there portions in all there food especially there carnitas. You don’t have to get tacos you can order a pound or 2 of carnitas. You can feed 4 adults with 1lb & half if you want, they give you more then that & a lot of tortillas & rice & beans come with it! To top it off while you wait (even if it’s to go) most of the time they give you a free Carnita taco! The customer service is excellent! Especially the main Carnita cook he calls everyone one Primo meaning cousin/​family, he’s real cool & fast. The food service is pretty quick. No free refills tho so ask for water with you’re soda cuz carnitas do get you thirsty.
Im a fan of carnitas now thanks to this place! There’s other items like Birria & Barbacoa that I want to try but the main reason why I will come back & what there known for is there CARNITAS! I really recommend this place to people who really want authentic Mexican Carnitas! My goal is to be the Duke here spread the word & bring people here to show them what real carnitas should taste like! Ahoooaaaa VIVA LAS CARNITAS MEAT!

It took me 3 tries after reading about this place on Unilocal but if they were always out of carnitas you know they had to be fabulous and they were! The women are so nice gave me a taco while I was waiting for the family meal deal even though the wait was short.
Bottom line — carnitas here are so good we had then 3 times in 10 days when we first tried them. The best tortillas come with them and I love that we get chopped cilantro and onion packed with the meal too. Such a great price for top quality meat. Ask them to chop big prices with some smaller — I don’t know but that combo really is great.

I felt like a truly special fat girl when I received my free taco yesterday but I am glad they make all their customers feel valued. My order for pick up was ready and the man offered to wrap it up to go and I immediately told him «No way!» — I was about to finish that taco right there & then, it couldn’t wait. That Sh… I mean, that stuff was delicious!
The owner was very courteous and asked what drink I would like to start with (at no charge). I ordered Barbacoa which was pretty good but I really think I should of gone for their Carnitas, so I will DEFINITELY be coming back soon. Oink Oink!

1^st time here. This place is amazing. The prices are low, portions are big. Taste is excellent.

Not bad at all. Friendly service and deliciousness carnitas. I usually get my carnitas from university right off the 15^th freeway. But this place is legit for Chula Vista. Me and my buddy the 1lb carnitas package and felt super guilty afterwards but dam it was so good.

Best place EVER for some carnitas!!! They are juicy, yummy, perfect! The rice is always on point!!! And the beans!!! Perfection.
Grab a Clamato (tomato juice, spices, chili sauce, and beer), goes very well when the carnitas!!!
The other items are also pretty good. The barbacoa is a little salty, but yummy still.

I came in to pick up a caldo de res for lunch. I ordered ahead of time and when I came in my order was still not ready. The two people behind the counter seemed to be the owners since there’s a big picture of them behind the register. They acknowledged me and said they would be with me shortly. She went to the window and brought backs carnitas taco and said here you go so the wait isn’t so bad. There were other people that ordered and a free taco seemed to be the norm. The taco to start was full of carnitas. They were very moist and flavorful and they had a salsa bar with plenty of things to put on your taco. I really was impressed with the carnitas I usually don’t crave them but, I have since I ate that taco. I will definitely have to go back to eat carnitas.
For my order the actual broth was very flavorful, it had plenty of meat but the vegetables in it messed it up. They put baby carrots and they had big chunks of russet potato with the skin on :/​I definitely make a better caldo than these guys. They also serve it with rice which was so bland I tasted it and threw it away. I was disappointed with my order but the carnitas taco will definitely take me back ;-)

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to my hometown of Chula Vista especially the westside. It’s been so long that on my way to the old site where tacos El Gordo was located I learned that it had closed down. Instead I came here and I have to admit it was a decent tradeoff.
They give you a complimentary carnitas taco. It was full of flavor, rich and tasty. I loved it, probably one of the better carnitas I’ve tasted. I ordered the carne asada plate, good, yet that the meat could have been seasoned a little longer. Other than that I think the meal and the experience was very pleasing. I would definitely go back and recommend to anyone that was anticipating a tacos El Gordo reunion just to find that they’re gone.

Great service and great food! I ordered the Adobada Quesadilla and the Carnitas Por Libra. The carnitas came with enough food for about three people. It comes with the meat, 7 – 10 tortillas, salsa, picked veggies, rice, and beans.
I ordered to go and they were really fast. They even provided a free carnitas taco as a sample while I waited. The sample was basically a meal in itself! It came with more carnitas in it than most restaurants give you in an actual order.
I would definitely come back here again because it’s a great bargain and everything tastes good!

Awesome service! Food is on point && lots of variety… space && such a clean place no wonder everybody gives them 5 stars cuz there are no down falls period. Wanna try their pozole && chicharron next. And they sell my fav beer!! coronas! A+ service food the establishment itself even the bathroom is hella clean. Will def come back !

This was our first time here and it was such a good experience over all! We ordered the chilaquiles with carnitas & scrambled eggs and they were AMAZING! Also ordered an adobada quesadilla and it was really good as well. We even got two complimentary carnitas tacos while waiting for our order! They were loaded with carnitas and super delicious. So if you’re craving carnitas this is the place! Total came out to only $ 16.00 (:

Why I give 5 stars I’ve been here twice an both time I left satisfied an full the first visit I ordered 4 tacos Carne asada, pollo carnitas & surtido not knowing I’ll get a free taco which makes 5 tacos in total. They don’t make small tacos like taco el Gordo their pretty big, enuff to make 2 burritos if I wanted to.
Now with the 2^nd visit I had this morning was chilaquiles, this was a XXL size haha it was so big I could only finish ¾ of my plate in all their food and service is good I can’t wait to come back here again!
