Olderish crowd(I’m 23) but I guess that’s what I get for staying in Chula Vista in a Friday night. Too crowded to get a drink and the place is a bit outdated but other than that, not bad

If you’re going to call it a cocktail bar, you might want to offer cocktails. They don’t have simple mixers, only take cash, and takes a while for service with only 5 people in the bar.

I have been to this bar for many years and always had a great time. But yesterday I had a very bad experience with a young girl bartender who was deep in a conversation with a lady with our drink and would not bring it. After a while I decided to get I up and get the drink from her. She seem to get upset and came to our table and started arguing with us. I went to the manager to tell him to get her to leave us alone and he never went to assist us. I cannot believe how this young bartender is allowed to disrespect customers. I really hope management will acknowledge this and let this young bartender know how being disrespectful and rude to customers is not acceptable, Good customer service brings business to a company.

Came back here this passed Wednesday, randomly, on a last minute outing for karaōke. It was moderalty busy, im guessing it’s cause summer is about to begin. Mr. D’s is still the same as I have remembered it. Cher, the spunky bartender, was there again and took care of my group. Great service and strong drinks at a cheap price. Vegas Bombs is her specialty a very generous shot. Karaōke is great here if you love to karaōke like me and the taco truck outside are awesome. Still as divey as you get.

This is one of those places where you never know what to expect. We have gone in and the place is practically empty and other times its so packed you can’t move. It’s a big size and very dark in there making it a perfect dive bar more than a sports bar. The bar is super long with plenty of places to sit. They have a friendly group of regulars but the rest of the crowd changes depending on the day and time. I’ve gone in and seen the karaōke people, an older Latino crowd listening to a live band, a bunch of bikers on a poker run and a lot of birthday parties. Bartenders come and go but Cher stands out as the most attentive, welcoming and friendly of the group. Quick tip, if you want faster service, sit at the bar closest to the back entrance. For some reason, the bartenders like to congregate there with regulars and miss the rest of the patrons sitting along the bar. And if you get hungry and its one of the days the bar hasn’t put out great food, the taco truck outside is pretty convenient and tasty.

Great place to go and hang out. Even though there is a mix of people there and different age groups. You can relax and listen to music socialize and have a drink and not worry bout anyone causeing drama. All the bartenders have great customer service and they know how to take care of the customers.

I was just there on an impromptu outing with my friend, as we were celebrating. We had been here before, and the atmosphere was so-so, but since it was close and they had karaōke, we decided to go here. Toward the end of the night, we had difficulty ordering drinks because one of the bartenders was too busy getting drunk to tend to her duties. The other bartender gave a terrible, what-seemed-like-forever karaōke performance and kept telling people to shut up while she«sang.» When no one clapped, she got aggravated and said those who did not clap for her were cut off and then proceeded to throw insults from afar. I doubt I will go back to this place.

I have only been here once and I didn’t like it. Drinks seemed very over priced although I know most bars are overpriced this bar seemed like it was more. The crowd was boring the atmosphere was boring. I was the youngest there and I’m 22. I only went cause I live near it but I highly doubt I will ever go back. Not my type of bar.

This place certainly deserves recognition! Here is my somewhat detailed review. Because finding a cool place in south San Diego is difficult. I’ve been here a few times now but only on Tuesdays and I can say that it has always been a blast. There is Karaōke on Tuesdays! Tecate special on Tuesdays. Taco stand outside which is excellent and you can bring the tacos inside the bar. First off the bartender(Blond hair) she is craycray, but the kind of craycray that makes you feel at home and easy to approach for drinks. She can sing in spanish which surprised me quite well too. The KJ is also quite a talented singer. The owner is also a really nice guy and picked the staff well. The crowd is a little bit of Rock n Roll 70’s, and Mariachi on Tuesdays… by the way I freaking love Mariachi and Rock. So walking in expect to hear the karaōke singers sing the good stuff like Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Jose Jose, Frank Sinatra, Elvis. I’m 26, eating my stack of tacos from while drinking and listening to great singers who are humble and gusty folks attempting the liquid courage approach makes a fun night.

I went to Mr. D’s, And this time I didn’t feel comfortable at all. I had other women looking at me like if they knew something. or they just wanted me to get mad. This is to all of you. I am not a hater. I don’t know what was said to them. But I just wish that if some one has something to sa. say it… I will still recommend Mr. D’s to friends great music… If any one has something to say please email and tell me… it’s okay stop with the stares…

So an old friend of mine from way back was in town from Boston and I wanted to find a bar in Chula Vista since that is where he was staying and that is where I live. I don’t go out to bars in Chula Vista since I don’t drink too much anymore and that I like beer bars and whiskey bars. but I am also a big fan of dive bars and that is exactly where Mr. D’s falls in. So I Unilocaled bars in Chula Vista and Mr. D’s is one of only a few that came up. the rest were like Taco Bars and stuff like that. made me laugh at the time. Anyways I read the reviews and thought it was perfectly located and sounded good so we hit it up. There were two bartenders behind the bar, I think one was new or just bad at her job, the other one seemed to have to help her quite a bit. At one point she even spilled a beer on my friend. LOL! Yeah no tip that time! We ordered drinks, hid in the corner and just shot the shit while a group of ladies danced and screamed all night while their men held down the bar. Very funny. This place is a total dive but if that is cool with you like it is with me then you’ll like it. Couple of pointers. Cash only and Tecate $ 2 Tuesday!

TRUSTME ! This is the only place in Cholo Vista to drink. I have had a mission, to drink, in every single place, in Cholo Vista and I have. No one is immune to my scrutiny. I am the lighting designer to the Saturday nite fever dance floor. I have done work in over 550 nightclubs nationwide. Mr D’s is the ONLY place I will drink in in my new home town after 32 years. This place is not a sheet hole like some of the others. Thanks Chris for being a great owner May god bless Mr D’s.

My husband and I love kicking it here. Came out on a weekend eve and there was a Mexican band, which was fun. Drinks are reasonable. People are super mixed, and fun.
