We love Mea Kwan! Very friendly, great papaya salad and the BEST panang curry. Good for takeout or dine-in!

The service is TERRIBLE. Unfortunately today I called in a food order, it was a simple order of a pad Thai and a Hawaiian rice. When I went to go pick up the food the restaurant was absolutely EMPTY. With lazy workers just sitting down at a table. I paid for my food and left. And when j realized the food was the wrong order I called back to tell them that they got the food order wrong and that i wanted a refund. They cancelled the sale and then refused to make my order. And the lady working today(in a green attire) was a complete BITCH. I gave them a chance to make the food and make things right and when they refused I told her there will be a Unilocal review and she had the audacity to tell me to «go ahead.» So here is your terrible Unilocal review of your lazy terrible service. Do your job right or don’t do it at all. You work in a restaurant get some damn manners

The food is delicious and I love the atmosphere! I highly recommend the pork satay, yellow curry, and mango sticky rice. The peanut sauce is to die for. Yum! Our waitress, Penh, is always lovely whenever my family and I come to eat here. Today when my mother and I came in to eat, we unfortunately witnessed a rude loud customer come in but Penh handled the situation professionally, calmly, and gracefully. She’s very kind and bubbly and always checks on our table whenever we come. The portions are pretty big! I can never finish a whole plate which says a lot because I tend to always eat a lot and finish my plate so I say you definitely get your money’s worth. Out of all the Thai places I’ve tried, Mea Kwan is my absolute favorite in San Diego and I definitely plan on coming again and again. This place is well deserving of 5 out of 5 stars.

The food here is pretty authentic and delicious. The service here is really friendly. It’s hard finding a reasonable and delicious place. This is the spot for me. I love no where near here and come here often to eat and make an excuse to visit friends. I would recorded the crab fried rice! Their curry’s are on point too.

Love this place. Never a bad meal and the staff is always friendly and fast. So, if you like authentic simple and fresh Thai food, this is the only place I would suggest in the Otay/Eastlake area.

I have eaten here many times and I love the food. The pad Thai with chicken is my absolute favorite the heaven rolls and the mango chicken are also delicious and highly recommended. I live 5 minutes away so it’s convenient and the staff is friendly. The owner of the restaurant is always around and she always asks my boyfriend and I if we need anything. The only negative thing I have to say is the male waiter was very rude to my family once before I got there, he seemed to be in a bad mood but my dad talked to him about his attitude before continuing our meal. Other than that I love this restaurant! We order take out all the time. It is a bit pricy but it is well worth the price for delicious authentic Thai cuisine.

Traveling with three kids from 2 years old to 13. Also included my mom, sister and brother(all adults) To be honest I enjoyed the food, I don’t eat Thai food often but the lunch pad Thai was flavorful. My problem was more an ethical issue. When my bill came I had a hard time confirming the amount with what we had ordered but because we were in a hurry I didn’t overanalyze it. It wasn’t till she brought my customer copy and I went to fill in the tip that I realized it had already been pre-filled out for me. I was a bit stunned because 1– I didn’t see it on the handwritten bill, two– we searched all around and didn’t see a policy stating a certain party number was subject to a pre-determined tip amount, and 3– 2 of our party of 7 did not order anything as one was a toddler and the other shared with my sister. I came home and honestly don’t know if to feel insulted that they assumed we wouldn’t tip or if they just don’t post policy. Either way I probably would have left a more generous gratuity but now the experience has left me preferring not to frequent again.

Came here to try out a new Thai place for an enjoyable dinner and left feeling rather disappointed. Only 1 server/greeter was working, while it was very busy. I was also taken a back when the server began taking our order without having first taken our drink order. Food was good with great flavor, but portion sizes for a couple of the items were rather disappointing. The kids fried rice with chicken was basically a pint size… it was rather a toddler meal. Ha! It was very tasty though! We also ordered the Pad Thai. Flavor was spot on! I’ll probably continue going to the other Thai restaurant that we usually go to, in Otay Ranch, since their portion sizes are better for the price.

I have come to this place like 4 times and i have always enjoyed their food. This last time that i was there i ordered spring rolls with peanut sauce as my appetizer. They were Super Delicious!!! and fresh. For may entrée i ordered a Chicken Pad Thai which was also amazing but not as spicy as i would like it to be. This was not a problem because they gave me a side of their house sauce which can is very spicy. The only bad thing about my last visit was that their credit card machine was broken and they were only taking cash. The Staff at the restaurant are super nice and the service is pretty fast in ordering and receiving the food.

I would consider this the best Thai restaurant in the Eastlake area. With that being said there really isn’t much Thai restaurants in the area. Like the Downtown Chula Vista location, I love their pad thai. The noodles are nice and thin and it isn’t dry. I like my pad thai more on the saucy side. Their panang curry sauce is rich and flavorful, yum. I also like to order a cup of tom kha soup. They use galanga and kaffir leaves in the soup which give it that authentic taste I look for. Everything I’ve had here was tasty and portions are generous. Service is pleasant and quick. The only flaw was, I feel like the salad included in the lunch special really has no place there. It’s either under-dressed or well under seasoned. I’m always left with a bunch of wet iceberg lettuce which isn’t so appealing. 4.5 stars.

Pretty solid choice for a quiet private dinner. . It is way East of chula vista but it has private booths that are super high so you are not disturbed… The water is weird until you reslise it is cucumber water.. So don’t split it out like my wife. . The food here is not spicy even when you ask for 8 out of 10 you get a 5 but it is good food cheap prices. . Not the fastest service but a very good paver to go eat. every body should try drunken noodles.

Horrible service. Not only did they get my order wrong, but they refused to change it to what I wanted which was the lunch special, not the dinner. It was 2:00 in the afternoon, why would I roder dinner? Of course dinner is more expensive, which explains why they did that. Will never go back. Thai Taste 2 in Bonita is much better!!!

So, first off, usually the service at Mae Kwon Thai Restaurant in Eastlake is top notch, 5-star in quality. The food is great, and I am glad to have a quality Thai restaurant in the neighborhood. Today, however was an epic fail. I called my order in and the gentleman on the phone confirmed that this was the location(Eastlake /Proctor Valley Road) I wanted to order from. He took my order, my name and number, and told me it would take 15 minutes. I showed up 15 minutes later at the restaurant, and I was told that my order wasn’t ready, and that they never even got my order. The gentleman there told me I probably called the wrong location, but I showed him my phone history, he went into the kitchen, and mysteriously found my order. 30MINUTES later, my order was ready. While the food was great, as usual, the portions were significantly smaller than before. No apologies for the wait. $ 13.00 for two scoops of rice and a small container of yellow curry with chicken. As much as I love this place, I was greatly disappointed by my experience today. I hope this was an anomaly, and not a sign of things to come.

Came for lunch today by myself(because, that’s how I roll) and the place only had a few people in dining. I was immediately greeted by the hostess/waitress who asked if where I would be seated was fine. I sat. I looked over the menu briefly, deciding to go after my go to Thai dish of yellow or masuman curry, depending on the place or what I’m craving. Nice! Lunch specials! With yellow curry! Add a Thai tea and water(which seemed to be infused with cucumber) and I’m set to wait for the food. And by wait, I really mean look at my phone, send one text message to a friend, and bam! Soup(which is part of the lunch special) shows up with my Thai tea. The soup was nothing intricate. Broth, cabbage, green onions, and some nice, fresh flavors. But hold on. Wait a minute. I’m not done with my soup and my actual plate of food has shown up. Soup gets slurped down and I start in on the small side salad with a light dressing. Spring roll is next. And then I start mixing small forkfulls of rice with curry. Now, I admit. When it comes to spice, I’m a wuss. Kinda. I love it. My mouth hates it. We compromise. I got Level 3 spice(choose between 1 and 10), and as I chowed down on the curry, the heat built up. But it was good. Flavor, consistency, nice chunks of chicken and carrots and onion… I couldn’t stop. Ok. I stopped to wipe my nose. And wipe my eyes. But I think that’s because I was remembering this one time with my old dog… Ok. It was a bit spicy. But in a good way. Not overwhelmingly though. Some other guys came in after me and they all ordered Level 8 and 9, so maybe I just haven’t reached their manliness level yet. Anyway, you get the point. I liked the joint. No complaints from me. Attentive service, but then again there was no excuse for there not to be. It was only a few of us in there. I’d come back, for sure.

My first time eating Thai & it was pretty good. I had bookmark this place & I’m glad I came. I’m a big fan of Duck so I had the Yellow Duck Curry & it was good with a good little kick of spice(I ask for mild). It could of used more pieces of duck in it but it was still good & It did get me full so I can’t really complain. The Chicken Fried rice was very good my kid loved it, I tried it & I approve. My fav was the reg«Tofu soup» I got the small for $ 4.95. Let me tell you it was on point! Just Tofu with clear broth, scallions, cabbage, cilantro, spinach & carrots! It was a cup of deliciousness! It’s a good little appetizer to start with. The service was great, very friendly & attentive, I was never thirsty my water & soda always kept coming, I Ioved that! From the moment I walked in to the moment I stepped out all the staff was friendly. I’m giving them 4 stars, I gave them 3 for the food & I gave them the 4th star cuz the customer service was great. And it was very clean & neat Inside I only tried 3 items but I will come back & try other dishes cuz I liked this place. I read above the owner’s daughter said the Crispy Duck was great so I will try that next for sure. Overall good place & food, great service.

On a rainy day I decided to order some soup to go from their website. I’ve never been here before, but it is the closest Thai restaurant to me so I decided to give it a try. The price on their site for the soup I ordered was 5.95. When I got there they charged me 7.95. When I showed them the price on their site they said that wasn’t their site. I showed them the address on the site and said isn’t this your address? and she said yes and I said and isn’t this the name of your restaurant? And she said yes, but those prices are for our other location and the rent is higher here. An extra $ 2 won’t help you pay your rent, repeat customers will help you pay your rent. I hope the extra $ 2 was worth losing a future customer.

This is our go to Thai in Eastlake. We live about equal distance from here and other options. Carry out is fast and convenient. We’ve never had a problem and order at least once a month, although last night it was extra slow. I typically have the chicken satay and my hubby has the drunken noodles. The satay is 4 pieces of well seasoned chicken breast served with peanut sauce and cucumber salad($ 8.95). My husband gets the spicy noodles/drunken noodles with chicken and it’s tasty. We ordered a level 8 but could’ve been spicy.($ 8.95). I’ve also tried to red curry which is tasty. We’ve dined-in on various ocassions as well as take-out and think the portions may be larger. Also during the week M-F they have a lunch special which is a great value. I would give them 5 stars but last night we had a bad experience: Ordered take out quoted 20 minutes and took 45 and my satay was a bit over cooked.(see pic)

Everyone who lives in the area knows that dining variety is very limited. We have fast food places, Japanese restaurants, Mexican joints and a variety of large chain places like Macaroni Grill, Cheesecake, Buffalo Wings and Chili’s. So, having a Thai restaurant, one of a kind this far east in Chula Vista, is a nice bonus. I typically order their pad thai tofu and a thai tea, for take out. I’ve also ordered their chicken satay, tom kha soup and the mango sticky rice dessert. The tom kha soup and mango sticky rice are repeats, whenever I want to order more than just pad thai. I’ve eaten in the restaurant twice. Both times, the service has been friendly and quick. It’s never really busy, but I can’t complain about that, since it’s always worked out in my favor. The one downside is that they charge a fee if your credit card purchase is under $ 10.
